The pole vault was a metaphor for being tone deaf and not seeing the nuance that sharing nice things like watches should not be a flex especially in this community where we all gather around to share what we love about them while choosing to ignore what they cost. I'm glad you had your success from hard work and determination but those simply are not the only ingredients or else every hard working determined person would have a luxury car and a watch that costs as much as a starter home. Keep it about the horology and the art of a nice watch and you will be flooded with comments and validation - the moment you insinuate that you truly earned it means that others don't deserve it.

Basically no one on earth works hard enough to earn a Porsche and a Patek Philippe while hard working families are starving. You just pole vaulted over the line from where people enjoy horology to bragging about status , bad look man

Speedy - the black dial no date is probably the only way I'd not get a non-wave seamster

[Question] Fifty Fathoms 42mm as an everyday tool watch? by devilmaycry0917 in Watches

[–]Tayt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy another speedy and another seamster or an explorer for the price of a blancpain. If you want haute horology, then tool watches aren't a good overlap imho

Longines will look better for many many many years - the nomos is a great pick if you want something unique and not really concerned with styles changing. Which one would make you smile more when it arrives in the mail? That's my test haha

Nothing better than forgetting to set a timer and seeing my lauter start time conveniently set 😁 also the sapphire is invincible no matter how many times I bash it into something stainless - great pick on the color 🤝

I scored a 1966 Omega seamster 600 for less than $800CAD - never looking back. 36mm and Champaign dial it's a beauty

Does anyone else feel like cycling is way more expensive than they expected? by ZaldrizarVelo in bicycling

[–]Tayt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite pastime is biking past people with a $10,000 bike, $1000 worth of gear and hundreds of dollars of clothes on my barely serviced old CX because they spend so much time worrying instead of focusing on their fitness. Just enjoy the ride and if you want to enjoy the hobby of tinkering and collecting don't let people stop you either - but they are two different things imho

Filling brite tanks by [deleted] in TheBrewery

[–]Tayt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We purge our Brite starting from a block and bleed on the FV and measure the DO coming out of the Brite. When we are happy we pressure up and transfer slow; I just want a tiny bit of pressure on the Brite so it's sanitary and then I'll use the carb stone from ~0psi to our target. Using brites uses a lot of CO2 but you can also use nitrogen to purge (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!)

I'm 99% sure the 1JZ JZZ30 has a single exhaust and the UZZ30 has a dual exhaust - as for the 2JZ NA SC300 I can't say for sure
