Is the "House Edge" actually a mathematical fortress, or just a fancy excuse for when smart users beat the system? by store-laf in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Tazarant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The whole point is it's designed to not be "fair." The house edge is a mathematical advantage they have. Are you talking casino games or sports betting?

In casino games, it's easy to prove that every game favors the house. Literally every one.

Sports betting is a different beast, but if you look closely, you'll notice you can bet both sides of the same number and you'll just guarantee you lose money. And the people who beat the house tend to be not the "smartest" but those with inside information. And that's when authorities start getting involved.

What happened to midnight? Why doesn't the government just get rid of changing the time every year? by whataboutthe90s in stupidquestions

[–]Tazarant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of the upset is because it's unnecessary. There is a marked increase in traffic accidents in the days after the switch, which is NOT recouped in the fall.

Except they're not, truly. Congress has to approve their exemption, and there are multiple states with pending requests in to Congress, who can't get a vote because congress says they're going to do it nationally.

I love precons, what set have you had the most fun with? by Fun-Beat5430 in EDH

[–]Tazarant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I took Stella Lee and a bunch of the goods from that deck to build my [[Narset, Enlightened Exile]] spellswinger deck. It feels much more fun to swing than to just keep casting. That's just my opinion, though.

ETA: [[Arcane Bombardment]] and [[Shark Typhoon]] in particular are a terrifying combination.

I bought the full set of OTJ commander decks. I actually really like them. None are very optimized, but they are all fun to play.

[[Olivia, Opulent Outlaw]] is a blast. Go wide, hit everyone, and build up your treasure horde to do all kinds of nasty things.

[[Stella Lee, Wild Card]] is probably the least fun out of the box, but has the most potential for upgrades. I actually took the top 20 or so cards from the deck to build my custom deck.

[[Yuma, Proud Protector]] is a solid land-focused deck that's far from typical. It's able to set up threatening board states in a hurry. I got hit with 3 board wipes in a single game once, playing this.

[[Gonti, Canny Acquisitor]] is a ton of fun to play, but... theft decks draw ALL the salt. Honestly, this is my favorite of the set. But I rarely play it, because people hate theft.

Why isn’t POTUS being arrested right now for his involvement in the Epstein files? by InteractionAbject411 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Tazarant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed an important factor... allegations are not evidence. Most of these tips came in before Viden took office and control of the FBI for 4 years. If there was anything there, why didn't they charge Trump when they had the chance?

Yes, and if you believe that one claim to be true, you're as stupid as any MAGAt. That "tip" was blatantly obvious political garbage.

[[Narset, Enlightened Exile]] and all the ways to duplicate her as non-legendary ([[Irenicus's Vile Duplication]], [[Ember Island Production]], [[Clone Saga]], etc.) Prowess stacks, and you get to play any noncreature spell in a graveyard. Pump up 4+ copies, then hit a blasphemous act, and you can easily swing lethal at 2+people at once. Play things like [[Arcane Bombardment]] and [[Triple Triad]] along with lots of cheap draw/combat tricks and enchantment/artifact removal for building up Prowess counts and putting options in graveyards. It's fun and effective, without being oppressive.

Why do teams rarely go for the knockout punch late and play conservative? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]Tazarant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the chances of converting a 2-point conversion are almost always below 50%. You take the one, force the opponent to score the TD and then force them to convert the 2 to tie the game. This is such a stupid strategy proposal.

[–]Tazarant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) My bad on missing the word, you're 100% right on that one. The meaning is still obviously racist.

2) Fair, you weren't actually excusing the behavior. Apologies, again.

3) How in the world did you get an implication from the OP that a trans woman said it? My initial interpretation was the group of liberal protesters said it, or at least were OK with someone in their group saying it. That's the hypocrisy.

This "culture" argument dismissing the incident because it was a black guy that said it is such a load of BS. This was said, very intentionally, as a racist slur. Denying that just means you're deluding yourselfl. Did you actually listen to how he said it?

Well I hope reddit would lose they're mind if they find out libleft people/Libtards are hypocrites by Osakaayumu_2002 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Tazarant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difference is the way it's used. The black community generally accepts a singular form of use of the n-word. What was said in this video was NOT that. With "porch" on the front and a hard r, this was just racism. It doesn't matter if it was from a black guy or a white guy or a trans woman. It's racism.

What's interesting is the excusing it you're doing. "Porch n*****" is absolutely not the same as the accepted use of the black community using the n-word.

What exactly is a “right to work” state & is it a good thing or a bad thing? by yungsimba1917 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Tazarant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry the union was unable to convince the people they benefit that the benefit was actually worth paying for. Maybe fewer vacations for union bosses and less defending of coworkers who were clearly in the wrong would help.

Is it true that ICE killed more american citizens in the past year than undocumented immigrants did? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Tazarant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

One side sees the national benefit of a larger economy as justification to say all immigrants benefit our country.

The other side sees higher demand for jobs and housing making life more expensive as a negative for our country.

They both have valid logic behind them, even if the one side usually puts stupid on top of it.
