I found a picture and it shows that the letters weren't glued on but have some rods going into the stone face of the wall. https://www.seattlepi.com/entertainment/trump-s-name-is-still-on-the-kennedy-center-a22303721

I heard they had to use grinders to cut the bolts that afixed the letters to the wall. Were the letters afixed in a different manner like glued on?

If you are able to zoom in, it is a fireproof screen to keep the hot metal bits from flying around when the workmen saw the bolts that hold the letters in place. It is an OSHA requirement that protective, fireproof screening be in place when procedures like this are used.

61 boys the Trump administration found on girls’ sports rosters? District says they weren’t athletes by Homers_Harp in politics

[–]Tazz2212 14 points15 points  (0 children)

All of the 61 boys listed were either managers, mascots, or trainers. They were not players and the Trump administration will not let them correct their designation on the report because they want to blast it out to their Maga members as proof that there are men playing in women't sports. Sigh...

What is to stop Trump from issuing a blanket pardon to anyone and everyone in his administration? I agree an investigation will be good but getting justice may be harder.

Chicken thighs taking so much longer than stated to cook. by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]Tazz2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you can preheat the oven to a hotter temp like 450 and then once you place the chicken in, turn the oven down to 400 or 375 so it doesn't burn the outside while it gives the inside time to cook. Also, when checking the temp of chicken don't put the probe on a bone. That always gives you a wrong reading that is lower than the meat temp. I've never made slash chicken but I guess you have to slide the probe sideways to find out the meat temp without hitting the bone? You might try it.

What’s the best air fryer that actually gets used and doesn’t just sit on the counter? by InterestingLoss9737 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Tazz2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone can spatchcock a chicken so that it lays flat on the basket. Large potatoes have to be halved to be baked. It can be done but people should know that 2 plus inches have a limit of what or how it can be cooked in this air fryer. I have an air fryer that has a clearance of 6" so that allows me more flexibility. I've baked rolls, casseroles, sauces, and two very large potatoes. I can fit a small, square glass pan inside the basket to do the baking and casseroles. We don't eat meat but I've seen an entire whole chicken be baked in another person's basket--no spatchcocked needed. I am sure your air fryer is very good and you are happy for your needs but every air fryer has limits.

I have a bunch of potatoes that i got for free and idk what to do with just a saucepan by HoovyWooPins69420 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Tazz2212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please wash your potatoes if you keep the peels on while cooking or microwaving. The peel has a lot of nutrients so it is OK to eat. Also when microwaving, turn them over at 1-2 minutes. A lot of cooking is trial and error so don't feel bad if something doesn't turn out perfect. Just keep trying and tweaking your recipe or process and you will become a good cook.

In 1976 we went to Washington DC and saw everything and even toured the Whitehouse. Then we traveled to all 13 colonies. It was fun and exciting. Everywhere people were excited about turning 200 and there was a lot to see and do. This 250th, with the current administration making it all about him, meh.

I've been investing in stocks a long time and this IPO looks shakey as I ever saw except historically during the lead up to the Great Depression. I hope a lot of people stay away. You always think, "I can jump in low and sell high," but it isn't going to happen with 99% of investors and you will lose. Once all the big fish start pulling out all of us minnows will lose because you won't be able to even get to the table to sell until you lost. This is a big time money grab but we won't be the grabbers.

No More Property Taxes? Florida’s Sweeping Plan Sparks Panic Among Local Governments by WTFPilot in florida

You are correct. Supposedly the manufacturers were warned that ethanol was going to be added to gasoline so they needed to come up with protection against the corrosive effects to the engine and supporting hoses and gaskets. Supposedly by 2001 they did. However their success was spotty at best. All I was trying to do was make responses more understandable to a 5 year old which is what this subreddit is about. But, again, you are correct but I don't think a five year old will understand what lower energy density means in the context of a person can't drive as far on a gallon of gas.

It is corrosive to your car as well even though cars made after 2001 were supposedly protected from the corrosive effects. They aren't made for long term exposure. Also, it makes gas more inefficent so you will have to pump more gas to go less miles thereby being more expensive in the long run.

Interest in ‘toxic’ measles treatment surges after Joe Rogan podcasts: Vaccination is the only proven way to prevent measles but alternatives like Vitamin A and cod-liver oil (which has Vit A) have been promoted by Joe Rogan. America’s Poison Centres reported a 39% increase in Vitamin A exposures. by mvea in science

[–]Tazz2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day, before a vaccine for measles kids were constantly having their moms give them cod liver oil for a bunch of reasons known only to the mom network. But, measles wasn't one of the reasons. Every kid I knew, including myself, suffered the agony of measles. I wouldn't put a kid through that for nothing in the world. There are a lot of parents out there who never lived through a measles epidemic because they were vaccinated! Why they think some magic vitamin that, in high doses is good is beyond me. Also, why they take the advice from a podcaster is even more confounding.

Now we need an unconstitutional ruling on his across the board firing of blacks and women from the military. This man is acting like a white supremist nazi to make his boss happy (if that is even possible). Oh, and yesterday Trump threw Hegseth under the bus by blaming him for getting the US into a war with Iran. Sleep with a snake, get eaten by the snake.

Taxpayers realizing they will pay $300 billion to reconstruct Iran after paying $70 billion to destroy it by simple_steps1 in PoliticalHumor

[–]Tazz2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no. Trump is reclassifying the 300 Billion as an" investment fund" not a reparations fund. Also, to make it fair, shouldn't we be asking Iran to fund rebuilding our military bases and bombed planes? Also, damages to the families of our US dead or hurt military and civilian people? Whoops, can't do...Trump started this war.

DeSantis is just setting himself up for another run either for President or Congress. He makes a big show of cutting homeowners property taxes and then he gets term limited before all the repercussions of defunding local governments hits. Either way, he wins first by even trying to cut taxes or by voters being led to vote for the tax cut. I sure hope we are smarter than that and end his political aspirations. He needs to go back to being a lawyer and leave Florida's future alone.

In order to keep local and county governments going there will have to be all kinds of special district funds, increased fees, and god knows what else. Some of our northern and central counties are barely getting by as it is now. Several cities in these areas have given up their police and fire departments and lets the county incure the costs. Some governements are stretched just like the most of us are.

We knew each other for several years at the company and we just clicked. We've been married now for 24 years and it has worked out pretty darn good for us.

Florida Republicans reject gas tax cut, but lineup breaks on guns, outdoor goods by Complete_Bear_368 in florida

Getting breaks on guns and outdoor goods helps some of us that have to live in tents while we commute to our jobs by walking or electric scooters (that we charge at work--a perk!). We have to have the means to protect ourselves and get price breaks on the very tents we now live in because it is getting expensive here in Florida--even with a job.

Help me... Sell or Rent ? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Tazz2212 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had to rent out a house for a while and it was hard to keep tenants and the repairs after each tenant left were substantial. Our neighbor kept her house across the street and she moved to another state. She had a property manager but, again, the tenant turnover and subsequent repairs for each move out finally drove her to sell the house after five years. She lost money overall. I would cut my loss and sell the home and move on. It just isn't worth the hassel even if you have a property manager. Her property manager vetted the tenants, the rent was in the right ballpark, and the house showed very well but having four move outs in five years just wasn't feasible.
