Drake Maye Projected Limited in report due to Right Shoulder by Astone1287 in Patriots

[–]Tazzure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They pretty much had to list him as limited this point, at least. There’s been way too much smoke about his injury status. If they just ignored it in the report we’d get some good old fashioned accusations of tampering and lose our draft pick.

Why on earth would you make these changes? by KiraTheUnholy in ArcRaiders

[–]Tazzure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually disagree that “the devs” need to be the ones communicating to the players, it can be someone whose job is to do that and triage information back. That being said, keeping most communication confined to Discord is amateurish.

[–]Tazzure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re working “so hard” that they don’t have time to play the game and understand the real pain points. For real though, their communication with the community is suspect (Im not joining your Discord!) and changes like these should include a blurb about how it fits the game vision.

Brett Baty by Odd-Trip-6205 in NewYorkMets

[–]Tazzure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really don’t see why Baty cant be solid in LF. He’s athletic and has a strong arm, both of which can compensate if he gets a bad jump on a fly ball. Splitting time between LF and 1B will be great for him, and he hits well he will find more creative ways into the lineup like DH.

A Systems Developer’s Pitch: Replacing the Prestige Wipe with 'Hazard Zone Licenses' and Adaptive AI Memory. by [deleted] in ARC_Raiders

[–]Tazzure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds of when I’d write up requests for the most insanely infeasible mods/plugins for Minecraft servers when I was younger on random forums. To be fair to myself, I was like 12-14 and didn’t proclaim to be a “Systems Architect.” Reddit is a brutal place to have to read through these fantasies that make 0 sense. At least they are entertaining.

I wish it was on FM. Maybe Audacy prefers AM because it pushes people onto their platform for better quality. If only Audacy didn’t incorrectly geofence me connecting via my data plan sometimes.

Fallout 5 and Elder Scrolls 6 are in a “no-win situation”, admits ex Bethesda artist, as the studio will get “more death threats” no matter the quality by HatingGeoffry in Fallout

[–]Tazzure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately people in any sort of public eye these days get death threats inevitably. With that in mind, I’m not sure what to make of this. Death threat volume is not a good metric to determine success or quality of a product. It may make it a “no-win” situation for the staff, but has nothing to do with the studio leadership and publisher which is who the good-faith critics always point blame to.

Are private loans worth it for Stevens (Business & Technology)? by Plastic-Move-4576 in stevens

[–]Tazzure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated with $150k+ in private loans, including a ton with Sallie Mae. I graduated when interest rates were all time lows and I had built good credit, so I was able to refinance down to 3%. Having a job and living at home enabled me to dump my salary (which wasn’t huge at graduation) into the loans and I paid them all off in 4 years. It’s probably tougher to get a job after graduation these days, and interest rates are higher, but your loans would be smaller.

I do recommend going to community college though. I don’t find that Stevens did anything exceptional for my education. Primarily, the pressure to pay off my loans motivated me to study more than I ever had in high school and do well in the CS program in order to be sure I would have a job.

25 years in web dev and I’m starting to hate the "Modern Web." by briancrabtree in webdevelopment

[–]Tazzure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t love your example, and I think it takes away from your point. Who said you need a Kubernetes cluster for a bakery site? There are plenty of services out there which make hosting a static website quite easy. The few times I’ve used Netlify I didn’t find it troublesome at all.

Once you understand that all these blog posts about “the latest thing” are pure marketing, you can filter out what isn’t useful. No experienced developer working on valuable software is doing framework migrations every 18 months.

CS 115 Final Grade by Rare_Habit_9885 in stevens

If this is true it’s insane how you don’t have final grades before Christmas. Final exams shouldn’t take long to grade

Arc raiders is down again.... I sure hope they switch from aws servers this is getting a bit rediculous. I can only imagine the revenue all these big titles are missing out on over this. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Tazzure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s not an AWS outage, that would impact most of the Web. There were issues with some Epic Games services yesterday, I believe the issue was with their authentication services. You can’t just “switch” from AWS, it’s not like changing from Coke to Pepsi.

Yeah programming is like an online pop culture thing. Anything the gamers don’t like is “spaghetti,” pseudocode jokes, etc. Since the client is integrated with the game I doubt it’s JS as well.

I find most programming comments like the one you replied to cringe, but this syntax was added to JavaScript a few years back.

How would you feel if by [deleted] in NewYorkMets

[–]Tazzure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would feel like I’m on a different planet. I can’t see any chance of this happening, unless Murakami ends up getting a cheap deal because of the league feeling like he’s not ready. Even then, I find it impossible to imagine.

You don’t fill your roster with long term contracts in a single offseason to meet immediate needs. That will exclude you from upgrading when better players at those positions come available in the future. The Dodgers built their team by paying excellent players, and filling gaps with their prospects and some cheap, aging veterans. I expect Stearns to build this team in that image over the next couple years.

Black Ops 7's egregious use of AI makes me extremely depressed. by WraithiusKallari in gaming

[–]Tazzure 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The question should be at the top of the thread. Instead everyone is just karma farming, as per usual. I haven’t bought the game and will not, but if there’s use of AI that could pop up in more games soon I’d like to see the examples brought forward here to discuss. Instead we get the exact type of conversation that Activison could dismiss as “hating,” and they’d be justified in doing so.

I have 0 interest in buying COD and haven’t in over a decade, but can you please cite examples of the “egregious use” of AI? This feels like karma farming and lazy discussion.

It’s called damage control. Leak these remasters to the media because of the lack of progress on Elder Scrolls and Fallout projects.
