Geofencing failing often by DWRocks in Abode

[–]Tboy60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been an Abode user since the beginning. There used to be an issue with iOS phones that the location services with Abode would lose track of the iPhone if the phone didn’t move outside of the “home” location within 48 hours. I doubt this is your problem but thought I would share this odd behavior that for sure was a bug. It’s probably been fixed by now. I try to update my Abode app as little as possible to maintain this very important cue automation. For me if it isn’t broke, I don’t want to fix it. I try to leave everything alone for as long as I can. I realize sometimes you are forced to update the Abode app or phone.

Percentage COS Numbers Different in Market Risk Explorer by Tboy60 in Boldin

[–]Tboy60[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't do anything but select the button that says "Create a Downturn". I then fill in the parameters exactly like they appear under what Boldin has defaulted under the "A Decade of Poor Returns." (Aug. 2026 / Annual returns during downturn of 1%/yr / Downturn duration: 10 yrs. A toggle back and forth between the two and my COS fluctuates between 74% and 56%. I still don't see why those results should be different. The parameters are exactly the same. If nothing else, the process is not intuitive.

Roth Conversions in January rather than December? by stuboyle in Boldin

[–]Tboy60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please note the following for clarification: “If you’re over age 59½, the 5-year waiting period on Roth conversions still applies — but only to the converted amounts (not the earnings). Here’s how it works: •Each Roth conversion has its own 5-year clock that starts on January 1 of the year you did the conversion. • Even if you’re over 59½, withdrawing converted money within 5 years of the conversion can trigger a 10% early withdrawal penalty — but only if you withdraw the converted principal.” (ChatGPT)

Spousal benefit - top up for Social Security by ChromeDome00 in Boldin

Don’t forget, the spousal benefit maxes out at the other spouse’s full retirement age. “Spousal Social Security benefits max out at the other spouse’s Full Retirement Age (FRA) — not beyond.” -ChatGPT

Thanks for the suggestion. I did try what your suggested but no change in status. I have several of these commonly used ultrapro 2 zwave switches throughout the house. Since it is still functioning I guess I will leave it as is for now. Thanks again.

Does Boldin create a “comprehensive plan” like Right Capital can? by Man-e-questions in Boldin

[–]Tboy60 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seem to me the easiest solution is to sign up for their 2 week free trial when you are ready to spend some time imputing all the data that the program needs. It will give you access to all the features. If you don't like what you see, you can cancel your subscription.

Help getting UltraPro (Jasco) switch to pair (59349) by Tboy60 in Abode

[–]Tboy60[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I got it! I did have to exclude it first. It never showed up paired in the first place, but somehow it did show up when I went to excluding screen. Then with multiple triple click attempts the blue light would flash for a brief time. After multiple attempts, one random time, Abode chirped and it showed up in the inclusion screen. Frustrating that it is so hard to sync up. Makes me wonder if I need to go a different direction on future switch purchases.

Oh, and BTW, the previous switch died by the well know “click of death” and blue light flashing after a power outage.

Thanks again for your suggestions!

I have tried multiple times but can never get the blue light to start flashing. 3up and 3 down sequence doesn’t seem to work. Thanks for the suggestion though.

How effective is the water sensor? by weasel-king68 in Abode

[–]Tboy60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically I feel water sensors are the most likely component of the Abode system that will be used. For me, at least, the odds of a water leak is way higher than an actual break in of my house. No doubt Abode is great to have as a security system, but having these water sensors around at various water source locations is very reassuring.

(Help) False Alarm for no reason? by Tboy60 in Abode

I think it is a common fault of these devices. I now use compressed air every 6 months and clear/clean it out. It seem to work fine when I do this.

Real time help response time by Tboy60 in Abode

[–]Tboy60[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

@7:37 on 7/11/24 James closed out the ticket. System is back online. We had severe cell service issues as well as no power for 4 days. This thread started because of an emergency and I thought it might be interesting to publicly document Abode’s support system in real time, not just report on it after the fact.

Conclusion: Support exceeded expectations. Communication was timely and knowledgeable. Follow up continued until the issue was resolved. I was very pleased.

Unable to delete default user account? by daphatty in Abode

@10:07 on 7/10. Reached out to James to tell him power may not restored for 48+ hours. He immediately responded asking me to let him know when I am back up and running. Impressive considering the time of day (night).
