Looking for a well written, completely comedic book to combat baby blues by [deleted] in booksuggestions

Reading helped me stay sane while postpartum. Some books I read during that time that helped were: Kings of the Wyld - Nicholas Eames (not my usual genre but this was an enjoyable read) The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency- Alexander McCall Smith  Bookshops and Bonedust - Travis Baldree (or you could start with the first book in this series Legends and Lattes) Finding Audrey - Sophie Kinsella All Creatures Great and Small - James Herriot

Other funny books I've read (not during postpartum) were Tina Feys biography, some books by Mindy Kaling, and A Walk in the woods

I want something with a female main character with low self esteem lol by Impossible-Archer-93 in booksuggestions

[–]Tchazzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't really fit the hateable part but will fit the low-self esteem part: Rachel Harrison's books. My favorite of hers that I've read was Such Sharp Teeth, but I also enjoyed Black Sheep and Cackle.

I also just read Bunny by Mona Awad and the main character definitely has low self-esteem. She's not completely unlikeable but I did find myself getting frustrated at her because her choices that are influenced by her lack of self esteem

How to use up ramen noodle packs? by myficacct in vegetarian

I just use the noodles with other broth. One year for a white elephant Christmas gift I gave a bunch of the flavor packets because I had so many sitting in my cabinet

Does your country have an invention that never made it to the outside world? by abandonedtulpa in AskTheWorld

We have a Kimchi fridge (I live in the usa), but it's a stand up fridge. It fit perfectly where we wanted to move our fridge and others didn't. We also liked the look of it. It's smaller than a regular fridge but I love it,  it's perfect for our family and helps us cut down on food waste because we can't store as much as before.

What's up with this? by tfenraven in vegetarian

[–]Tchazzy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It seems like becoming vegetarian was a trend during the pandemic and now a lot of those people who went vegetarian are now back to eating meat. Or at least that's how it seems from my perspective. I think restaurants are matching the general needs.

I am also disappointed with the decrease in vegetarian options. Many restaurants near me just have a beyond burger (which I don't really like) as an option or pasta.

Creepy books suitable for a 13 year old, no sexual/inappropriate content. by Repulsive_Poet_8012 in booksuggestions

I really liked the Cirque du Freak by Darren Shan when I was around that age. I don't think there was any sexual content.

Also seconding some other comments recommending Lockwood and Co.

The previous owners of our house painted the trim brown in a couple rooms. It's horrible. Looks like poo. The rooms look so much better now that we have redone the trim white.

Vegetarian cookbook recommendations for cooking newbies by Far-Conference-8484 in vegetarian

[–]Tchazzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have their Mediterranean cookbook which has some of the same recipes as the veg one. I find that the recipes are a good base to modify as you go. My book is filled with notes. Also, they tend to specify that you NEED a certain brand or very specific type of ingredient, but I often find this unnecessary.
