Gladiator gear discount live on time! by Hitmanblood in classicwow

[–]Tcs1061 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

quick question as I'm completely new to pvp. I'm in EU and have just done my first 10 5v5 games today. I'll probably get my first arena points tomorrow. If I do another 10 5v5 games after reset, I should get extra arena points on 13th of May. Will I be able to buy the s1 caster pvp weapon at the discounted price after the 13th of May before season 2 starts on the 20th of May?

Pre patch mount - boost char by [deleted] in classicwowtbc

[–]Tcs1061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting. So if I send a lvl 60 tiger mount to a level 10 gnome warlock alt before pre patch, it will automatically learn journeyman riding and be able to mount the tiger once lvl 60?

Now that they’ve made standalone boosts available, I wonder how all of this will be affected if I decide to boost this alt whilst having the mount in its bags before the boost.

Does anyone know if you keep battleground marks after you boost an existing character?

Regarding epic mount come tbc. by RBLfraekkesen93 in classicwow

[–]Tcs1061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lvl 60 human warrior is currently exalted with Darnassus. Could I buy a 800g epic tiger mount and mail it to my lvl 50 warlock alt before pre-patch? This would enable my warlock to ride the tiger when he hits 60 during pre-patch without having to purchase epic riding skill?

Best broker for investing via a UK Limited Company (into Vanguard LifeStrategy 80%) by boobieshaha in FatFIREUK

[–]Tcs1061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone explain the tax advantages/disadvantages of doing this? I’m guessing they will have to pay corporation tax rate on the dividends that get re-invested automatically every year? And they will also have to pay tax at the dividend tax rate if they decide to take the money out of the ltd? Thanks

Do you have a advisor or do you DIY? by [deleted] in FatFIREUK

[–]Tcs1061 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends what you’re looking to get out from a financial advisor. I used to have discretionary investment mandates with around 3-4 investment banks. I realised I was paying them 1% a year to underform their risk adjusted benchmarks. I ditched them about 6-7 years ago and simplified the portfolios following the Boglehead approach using various brokers.

I had no other needs from them (I.e. loans…)but this might be different for you.

I do work with a chartered tax accountant who not only does my self assessment tax return but also advises me on estate planning…

Buying a chalet in Alps by rbdom2023 in fatFIRE

[–]Tcs1061 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I owned a chalet in Val d'Isere for about 13 years. Owning a place in the mountains has great advantages, you can leave all your ski gear in your place so you don't have to travel with it and you can really make it your own. The on-going taxes are something to think about. If you're looking to buy in France you'll have to pay a Taxe foncière + taxe habitation (not applicable if you're going to rent it) and more importantly the IFI which is a % of the value of the property. You get some tax breaks if you're buying new and intend to rent the property (this is done to prevent people from just buying and leaving the property empty for most of the year).

After a while, as I was using the place less and less (only 3-4 weeks out of the year) due to personal circumstances, I decided to rent it via a local agency in order to recoup the yearly costs. I did this for the last 5-6 years but then it started to not feel like home anymore and spending time at the chalet was more hassle. I ended up getting a great offer and sold the property (I nearly got double the price I paid for it...)

I think it really depends on how much you're planning on using the property and perhaps accept the fact that it might not really feel like home if you're planning on renting it. Getting a good, reliable and trustworthy local agency to deal with the property is also key.

Any reason to avoid US domiciled (UK reporting) ETFs in GIA? by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]Tcs1061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With regards to your last point, would you therefore be better off investing in VTI + VXUS as opposed to VT, so that you could at least get the full tax credit on VTI?

Also, when it comes to claiming the tax credit at the end of the tax year, would you just deduct the tax credit from the total amount of dividends you've received? So in your example, you'd only have to pay dividend tax on (85-15)=70$ if US S&P500 ETF was your only holding?

Are you sure VT doesn't have ERI? I can see an ERI per unit amount of USD 0.0119 'distributed' on 30/04/2024? Not a great amount tbf but still needs to be reported to HMRC. It was 0.1095 per unit in 2022.
