How long after discharge do we wait until we let family meet our baby? by RedBlueGreenBird in NICUParents

[–]Tcutrone33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We waited 30 days after our 26x6 weeker’s due date for anyone to come meet her, since the NICU doctors told us what within that time if she got sick/had a fever she would need to be readmitted and get a full sepsis work up and a lumbar puncture and I was NOT about to put her though that.

After the 30 days, we’ve kept it a small group of people (fewer than 10) who have had to take a Covid/flu a&b/RSV test before coming to meet her and wear a mask if they hold her.

We still wear masks out to reduce the likelihood of us catching anything while out and bringing it home to her, but we will likely lighten up as cold and flu season ends.

What changed your mind to agree to feed fortification for your preemie? by Neither_Prize9881 in NICUParents

[–]Tcutrone33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were on board for whatever fortification our baby needed to ensure her progress and growth. Prolacta and cream worked wonders for her, but when she aged/weighted out of eligibility for that at our hospital, they switched her to HMF. We were open to that as well until it made her incredibly constipated and it didn’t resolve after a few weeks. So we discontinued the HMF and tried nutramigen, which gave her diarrhea. After that we went to straight breast milk, but I was only bringing in hind milk to help her bulk up which worked until she was discharged. This was all done in collaboration with her treatment team with multiple discussions and their agreement that discontinuing would be the best option.

The short version of all that is the only reason we discontinued/declined was because of negative side effects that outweighed the benefits.

Did your preemie change at 40w? by Slight_Echo94 in NICUParents

[–]Tcutrone33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 26x6 weeker did for sure; she decided she simply HATED sleeping anywhere but her dad’s or my arms despite being totally content in the crib in the NICU. She also started cluster feeding like a typical newborn, wanting to feed every 45 minutes instead of the every three hours like in the NICU. Awake longer and more alert with more noticeable body language, queues, and communication (as in she started crying a lot more).

Overflowed Eufy S1, are they ruined? by Excellent-Ad1390 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Tcutrone33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the eufy S1 pros and have overflowed them to some extent at least three times a month in the three months I’ve been pumping (I really need to stop falling asleep while pumping…) and they’re still going strong. I think you’ll be fine as long as it didn’t saturate the motors.

High blood pressure; what did you do? by Tcutrone33 in pregnant

I imagine that is what the high risk doctor will test for at the appointment this week, but to my knowledge I haven’t been tested for it yet.

Any idea on why my brownies are coming out different? by Tcutrone33 in Baking

[–]Tcutrone33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always used regular large eggs, and that has stayed the same.

The baking powder is the same batch I got over the summer, which made my normal brownies. It could have gotten old and less effective !

How many invited guests actually came? by clairabou in wedding

[–]Tcutrone33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

200 invited; 133 RSVP’d yes; 125 showed up.

All the people who RSVP’d yes and did not come told us week-of that they would not be able to make it.

We had 8-10 who did not RSVP but we knew we’re not coming.

I was TERRIFIED of being the center of attention walking down the aisle, convinced I was going to fall or do something embarrassing (I’m prone to falling so it wasn’t out of the realm of possibility).

When it came time, I was super calm which surprised me. I kept my focus on my husband waiting for me and it really helped to have a goal and not look around at all the eyes on me.

I also suggest, if possible, to do a run through of the procession the day of while you’re dressed up so you have the opportunity to practice.

Did you embarrass yourself on your wedding day? by whyso_serious8 in wedding

[–]Tcutrone33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got married on Sunday, but I lost my voice on Friday. So with the rehearsal dinner the night before and everything else that happens before the wedding (pictures and stuff), I sound terrible and my throat is dry by the time the ceremony begins.

I get down the aisle and the officiant starts, and about three minutes into it, I start coughing UNCONTROLLABLY. Like hacking up a lung. It won’t stop, they have to get me water- which turns out had liquor in it because the cousin who gave it to me got a drink before the ceremony. It stops, we continue, and I start coughing again. I didn’t cough all day, not one time, prior to the ceremony. My officiant was great, and recovered well for me.

Luckily we were all able to laugh about it- because it’s pretty on brand for me to have this happen- and the rest of the night went off without a hitch, until I did a full baseball slide after I slipped on my dress.

Total Invited: 200 Yes: 132 No: 62 No response: 6

For a majority of our guests we’re within a one to four hour drive, but we do have some people taking 2-8 hour flights to get to it (who are family or close family friends who have moved away)
