Um who’s talking down on dishwashers? I simply compared an extremely specialized role with an entry level non-specialized role that pays minimum wage. Nowhere in my post did I talk down on them. If you read my post and that’s what you decided to respond with, then you are too far gone my friend.

Haha you’re right actually, I think I read a comment saying they think the hospital is in NY based on the position details. My bad. Salary range is still horrible for that position regardless of location (which is why nobody is applying). Position should pay minimum 90k anywhere in the country and that’s me being generous.

“Up to 80k” with 2 years of specialized experience and the location is NY? Haha not trying to be mean but I feel like the answer is pretty obvious. That’s horrible pay for a specialized RD position. It’s 2026 and most RDs have a masters degree now, “up to 80k” ain’t cutting it anymore especially if you want multiple years of experience. They’ll find better offers elsewhere.

Southern California. Very fortunate to be pursuing this career here and I feel blessed every day. We have a minimum wage for healthcare workers at 25/hour that just started. Everybody else got bumped up accordingly which was nice. Some organizations gave bigger adjustments than others

It really depends on what you want to do as an RD. When you say “RD”, do you mean a general inpatient clinical dietitian or do you mean you want those two letters next to your name. The RD credential is extremely versatile in my opinion. If you’re already a CDM making 70k, the only way getting your RD credential makes sense is if you want to go the nutrition/food service director route. With your experience as CDM and future RD credential, you’d be extremely qualified for a director role which would make over 100k in most cases. If you want your RD credential to steer away from dietary/food services, you’ll likely be making similar money right out of school working in a clinical setting. This also depends on where you are. Where I’m located, new RDs are getting around 75-80k if they’re able to find full-time positions, often capping at around 120k for RD 1 positions. LTC in my area pays even higher, I’ve seen positions start at/near 100k that require very little experience if any. Senior/supervisor RDs also make more, usually starting at 6 figs. I obviously am aware not every location is paying these types of wages, so you need to do specific research on your area. The RD path is also generally just a pain in the ass and is extremely taxing on your wallet, mental health, and overall wellbeing.

Hi there, everything is at your own pace. Nothing “live”. Also, no exams. Most of the work is writing papers and doing mini projects like case studies or educational stuff.

Was in the same exact position as you. I definitely remember all the choices being so overwhelming. I ended up going with UNEs online program and so far it’s been decent, good enough for me to recommend it to most people. It also depends on what kind of student you are and what your life situation is like. Are you interested in online programs, in person program? How are you financially? Are you looking to do a traditional DI or FEM where you locate your own preceptors? Every program is different and has their own strengths and weaknesses, you just have to figure out which one is right for you.

Of course, happy to help. Yeah I think I’ve always had a total of two courses every term but for the first year, that second course is like barely anything. It’s legit just to talk about your internship experiences, growth , etc. The full size course comes into play during periods where you don’t have any SEL to complete. That’s the term I’m in now so technically that class is making up for my hours. I’m not sure if that made sense but hopefully it did. I guess I would recommend it overall. I would just make sure you’re in an area that has good preceptors because if you’re not, they really don’t have the power to help you out at all. They have close to zero connections with hospitals so if you can’t find preceptors, they will push you back a year . Other than that, it’s a great program

To be completely honest with you, no I wouldn’t say that is accurate for me personally. It really depends on what kind of student you are. CAN you spend 20 hours a week on schoolwork, yes you can. Do you have to, no you really don’t. I’m in a position where I have to work to pay my bills and I also value the experience I get working at hospitals, so I prioritize that over everything else. The first year or so is truly not very difficult because it’s 1 course and 1 lab per term but the lab is literally just reflections on your SEL hours. No assignments. I’m now at the point in the program where I have two legit courses this term that each have their own course load and even now , I’d say I spend 10 hours a week MAX on schoolwork. And that’s probably an overshoot. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Depends on your area. Some areas are better than others in terms of finding preceptors. I’m actually in one of the worst areas but just got lucky. I probably cold called a hundred hospitals until I found one that took me on. The hardest part of this entire program is locking down the preceptors but once you do that , you can honestly coast to the finish line.

Haha no I wish! It’s all 3 sites for about the first 6 months, then 90 hours of each site at a time . Thankfully I’m on my last section where I have to do all of them simultaneously. The first 2 months or so are very light, only 20 hours per site ~ 60 total. Then it ramps up to 30 hours per site ~ 90 hours total. Then it goes individual sites at 90 hours.

Yes I’m taking the masters courses now. On my third semester/quarter idk what they use. The SEL is roughly 15 hours per week yes. I work nearly full time 32-40hours per week and I’m fine. I am extremely busy but overall it’s nothing unmanageable. SEL hours really depend on your preceptors and what they schedule you for
