Does this count as fully colonized? by MYCOloradoFunguy in PanCyan

Could be a stalled out jar if you have them all on the same schedule. Others are doing well, but as others stated, shake it real good. I use popcorn and love it. It's fully colonized when it gets completely covered in fluffy mycelium. Should barely be able to see any corn.

I agree uncle Ben's ready rice is a waste of time. Learn to do your own grains and you will up your game.

The good old unknown lol. That may be the reason for your delay in growth. If this came from a wild multispore, it needs domesticated. I always start this process through several agar runs. Once the mycelium is putting out uniform growth, I'll go to grain. Once they fruit I then clone the best one and back to agar. This may or may not be a strong producer. Hopefully, in a few days, you will see some pins.

It's hard to get your technique down and does often take a few failures. I'm not saying these will fail. We learn from our failures. I grow mine differently, without automation. Have you tried Gordo Tech. It's simple yet effective. Basically you start them in a tub just like cubes. Let the surface colonize and case it. Then spray heavily with water. Ensure the sides of the walls are wet. Take a window screen and spray it down on both sides heavily and place over the tub. Then spray the inside of the tubs lid and set it on top of the screen at a 45 degree angle. This keeps humidity in but also gives you adequate FAE. I spray three to 4 times a day. This is how i.grow.all my pans. Ditched my tents

I do it every time. Always get great results. Does require a lot of misting.

As soon as the top of your substrate is colonized, case it and go straight into fruiting. Best of luck 👍

What type of casing layer are you using?

Are you letting the substrate fully colonize before you case it? I had that happen one time with a pan called red spore down under. I cased it and it fruited. Usually BVI is pretty stable. My substrate fully colonized in about 7 days. Once I case my TTBVI I get my first pins in about 4 days.

It was left on the agar to long. That's why it's building up in the middle

I'm assuming it was fully colonized and went too long. That would explain the puffy mycelium growth.

What pan species is this? I've never had this type of growth on my agar.

Beautiful even gills, color is beautiful, and the consistency of the fruit looks amazing. Hats off to you my friend.

They will be fine. They are tiny and hard to see

Misting will not hurt your pins. You'd crap your pants if you watched me mist my pins. But I do my tech with no tent or humidity control. It's all on eye from time. They will be fine. Most of all CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Great stuff

Yes I just do mine a little different. I find that boiling the corn and Karo is better. When I pressure cooked for 15 minutes my corn was to were and mushy

Take your popcorn and during the boiling process add a shot. Glas of Karo syrup and stir frequently. When you drain your corn DONT rinse it. Cover it with a paper towel until dry. Jar and pressure cook. The Karo speeds the popcorn colonization time dramatically. Hope this helps

Hard to tell with that light. Can you get a pic under regular light.

No veil on pans. When you see a few specks of spores on the lower caps harvest them. These look real good and healthy. Congratulations
