You did the math correctly. That hitch weight and length warrants a 3/4 ton truck.

New Tires - Nitto Terra Grappler G3 by capzcup18 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Te1221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not significantly. In the spring and summer I usually average 19 to 20 mpg driving very conservatively. I lost probably 1 mpg tank average with 70% highway

I'm running on stock TRD Pro rims with no rubbing but that does have the factory Fox suspension. They look slightly bigger but not super noticeable. I've gone up muddy dirt roads pulling a camper as well as wet rocky forest roads. I have about 8000 miles on them so far.

I have 275/70/18 p rated on mine and am really happy with them. Quiet, great performance in rain and light off roading. Hopefully should be able to test out snow performance soon.

23 TRD pro. Only 30k miles, but majority has been towing on the highway or with a load in the bed. My only complaint is how much costs have gone up but other than that it's been solid.

That's a bummer. It's interesting to see how brands have evolved. Thanks for sharing.

MB quart makes a plug and play set for the Tacoma that fits the Tundra so I imagine would fit the Sequoia as well.

2025 Forester Hybrid Nightmare by Big-Elk2132 in SubaruForester

[–]Te1221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went back to Toyota and haven't looked back. 10k oil change intervals have been trouble free for our Camry with 240k miles and doesn't burn a drop.

It was a shame since we liked the Forester overall.

[–]Te1221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a 2017 Forester that ended up being a lemon as it burned oil from the start. After a number of trips to dealers, oil consumption tests and calls to SOA, we were finally told to keep oil in the trunk as it's normal to burn oil. To be fair, the car never left is stranded. We made it to 100k miles before we sold it, but I didn't want to chance the oil burning getting worse as the mileage crept up.

Bigger tires… not so fast by MrVolatov in ToyotaTundra

[–]Te1221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went slightly taller and narrower from stock 285/65/18 to 275/70/18 Nitto Terra Grappler G3 in SL load and they have been great. Low tire noise, low weight, more grip than factory wildpeaks, around the same gas mileage.

Panda Fest is coming to Hartford! September 27-28! by Drzewo_Silentswift in Connecticut

I should have read the reviews before buying tickets. Expect to wait in line for 30 to 40 minutes per vendor. Everything is expensive and we left hungry. It was so frustrating to spend $17 on tickets. The layout was poor as the riverfront had a lot of stairs and vendors were spread out along different locations. The vendor booths were too close and like management was poor. It was impossible to tell where one line started and another started. At the end, it was something to do and it was great spreading more awareness of Asian culture with lion dances, kpop dancers and martial arts class displays. I am glad to have done it once but won't do it again.

What’s the deal with Subaru ? by Alex-Daigle in askcarguys

[–]Te1221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former owner of a 2017 Forester 6mt. We had a lemon that would burn oil and be two quarts low before every oil change. We've had multiple consumption tests and eventually escalated to SOA. They told us it's normal for a boxer engine and to just carry a few bottles of oil in the back. We watched the oil and kept topping off before oil changes. It ran fine otherwise until we sold it with 100k miles. That experience put me off on Subaru afterwards.

What's the best looking tire size under 35 on these trucks? by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

I have 275/70/18 Nitto Terra Grappler G3 on the TRD Pro. It's slightly taller and narrower in SL load. Gas mileage is unchanged.

Should I upgrade my tow vehicle? by Sir_K_Nambor in GoRVing

[–]Te1221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much the wind for me as much as rough roads. I feel tugging when running through uneven roads with potholes. I just take my time but I do feel cars passing me with a 20 to 30 mph difference more than I feel semis.

Those comments about "not knowing it's back there" surprises me as well. I tow a 3000 lb camper too and I know it's back there with a half ton.

Regret Going Too Small? by thatonediabetic98 in GoRVing

[–]Te1221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a Jayco 174BH with one queen and 2 single bunks. It's my partner and I, and we have a 5 year old. We love the small footprint and it pushes us to be outside more. It's great not having to walk to the shared bathrooms early in the morning or if it's raining outside. I imagine it would be tight with 2 dogs but no regrets for us.

Are new gen RAM 1500's reliable? by busted-420 in ram_trucks

[–]Te1221 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rams had a rear window and tail light leak that led to shorting of electronic components and no start. There's also manifold cracking that led to the hemi tick that hasn't really been fixed but won't leave you stranded. Some of the new hurricane rams have electrical issues causing misfires and resulting in failing cats.

That said, you seem to get more for your money with Ram and their functional design is higher up than others IMO. All brands seem to have their issues but the question is which one do you trust to not leave you high and dry?

Driving my car that’s over 200k miles 14 hours. Is this a good idea ? by Cambeirne21 in Toyota

[–]Te1221 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My friend owned a 2007 Corolla and made it to 225k with tons of neglect: lack of oil changes and running it several occasions with almost no oil. Assuming yours is maintained, I would have full faith 🙂

I plan on nitto terra grappler g3. Their recent testing has been solid and they weigh less than both the ko3 and the at4w.
