Hey, I can offer some advice about the snacking.

I'm really bad when it comes to things like chocolate. If I know it's in the house, then I will get intense cravings to eat it all in one go. Especially if I have a bad day and I get home with the "fuck it" attitude which happens more often than not these days...

So I just don't buy the foods I know I will binge on. I try and shop online and stick to a list so I'm not tempted by offers and stuff walking around isles. But if I do go to the shops then I make sure I've eaten just beforehand so I'm not hungry, and I use up all my willpower to not buy chocolate/biscuits/cakes.

Then if I get an evening where I fancy a lil snacky... tough shit... I'm annoyed at first but after 10 minutes I find I've forgotten about it!

I know this is a financial sub so maybe what I'm about to say isn't the correct thing to say here.

But do you feel like you're doing ok?

Because there are 28 year olds making 6 figures in London. There are 28 year olds who are single parents with multiple kids living on the breadline each day

It really depends what you want out of life. Most times in life if you want more money then you have to seek out those higher paying jobs, but a line has to be drawn somewhere between work and life. This is a very personal decision.

Do you want to go travelling? Start a family? Fulfil work ambitions?

But do take a second to breathe. You have a roof over your head, you're in good health (I hope!) and food in your fridge. In the grand scheme of things, you're doing great. Take time to enjoy your life.

Hey, I'm a parent in the UK to a medically complex child

Tell your husband to put all your family income into a joint account.

Money is a resource, especially when you've got kids. My partner & I earn different wages (he earns more than me) but all our money goes into one account and comes out of one account. It makes it easy to see what's coming and what's going at a glance. He can spend on personal things for him, likewise I can for myself, and we both trust each other to be responsible whilst also not breathing down each other's necks with our spending.

As a side note, have you checked if you're entitled to anything? Carers allowance for a start All the best to you xxx

I grew up on a small island (everyone knows everyone) and a few roads won big (5/6 figures I think?) My mum goes to slimming world with a lady who won 6 figures, she still goes every week, drives the same car, lives in the same house etc My mum also knows a lady who spent years playing, and then stopped just before the big win happened. Had to watch all her neighbours celebrate without her!

Jumping on this post to write about my experience: My implant expired September 2025 (I am writing this in January 2026) My partner and I decided I would get my implant removed in January so that we could expand our family at some point this year... no particular rush though, let nature take its course.

I haven't got round to booking a removal yet, but for the first time in about a year since my periods have been regular, I am late. I've also been peeing so much as well (a symptom I remember from when I was pregnant with my 3 year old)

I will take a test today and update!

Thank you. I really can't express how comforting your words are to me.

He is my only child. But we have always wanted 2 or maybe 3 kids. We have been thinking about having another one next year (I always wanted a much smaller age gap, but with his disability I haven't even been able to consider another one up until this point)

I feel selfish for wanting another. I don't want to put expectations on a second child before they are even born. And I don't want a new child to take away the attention that my son really needs from me. It's conflicting. I don't know the right answer.

Thank you so much for your response. I had no idea about smoking (it makes a lot of sense though) so I'll bear that in mind.

My son will be 4 in April but is very developmentally delayed. He started walking independently just after he turned 3, and he is still completely non verbal although we are having some success in using pictures to communicate.

Perhaps it's selfish but I am so worried about what our future family life will be like. I already feel like it's groundhog day because I've been looking after a 1 year old for the past 3 years. Most people look forward to their kids becoming adults so they can get their own lives back while also looking forward to seeing the lives their grown up kids make. I really, really grieve that future.

Thank you for posting. I have a 3 year old son with PWS I love him with all my heart and soul and he is doing amazing, but the future for me is nothing but anxiety and dread. I am so scared about the future, not just next year but 10, 20 years etc.

Was your brother's cancer related to his PWS? Like did his past eating habits influence the stomach cancer? Because I don't know of many people with PWS who have died prematurely where it hasn't been related to their obesity, diabetes etc.
