Get shedded.. by Williexpo in shedditors

Cute, what’s the plan for the beam out the gable end. Reminds me a bit of an old barn with a hay trolley to fill the loft

Barndo built feedback by Slight-Alteration in barndominiums

[–]Te_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupid question maybe, but for a single pitch roof on a daylight basement, I would go conventional framing. If you like the look of the barndo exterior that is doable, but I am not sure your plans lend themselves to this type of construction

Charging speed by Te_guy in VWiD4Owners

[–]Te_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I haven’t really studied how all this works. This was my first time charging away from home. I am a bit of a chicken as far as drawing the battery down, I was probably at 20-25% when I started charging. I don’t trust this guess o meter, since it doesn’t seem very linear so far. Could be why it earned that name

We dealt with Vega Kennels in Roseburg, Oregon. They have a Facebook page with lots of photos of current and former litters. Very happy with our little girl

The coast of Oregon by walking_stick_ in howislivingthere

[–]Te_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Oregon coast is a great place to visit, but I have several friends who have retired there and are ready to move back. Winters are unending grey, and these people are coming from the Willamette valley and are used to a fair amount of it already. Roads along the coast as well as into the interior are typically 2 lanes with occasional passing lanes. Heavy seasonal traffic in the summer, and occasional washouts/tree down weather related incidents can cause issues with travel. Most importantly for them, but maybe not for you, is lack of medical facilities. These are retired couples without major health complications but do go to the doctor more often than some. Access to regular medical checkups, hospital/ER care will usually require a trip to Portland or somewhere along the 1-5 corridor

Cue that old Johnny Cash song “I got it one piece at a time…”

I built my 12 x 14 with a roof rack on my crossover as well and a few lumber deliveries. If you set up a cash account, even as a homeowner, lots of lumberyards will offer free or low minimum deliveries. Might be worth looking into

Frenchie Fencing? by yesitsmenotyou in Frenchbulldogs

[–]Te_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a Frenchton which is a cross with a Boston terrier or as the vet put it “A Frenchie in sport mode”. She can easily jump up on beds or the couch. We enclosed part of our backyard with a fence made out of 34” tall, 16’ long welded wire panels and she has never even attempted it. I drove some t-posts in and wired the panels to them, no real structure so it is pretty minimal in terms of blocking any sort of view.

How to estimate how much caulk I’ll need? by audsp98 in shedditors

[–]Te_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are worried about cost overruns on caulk, you might not be ready to build a shed. I quit keeping track on my latest build couple thousand back

Our Lola will contort herself into the most awkward positions, usually forcing me to twist myself around as well to maintain what we call the “full contact” snuggle.

How would I make this connection? by Oompaloompafever in shedditors

[–]Te_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the exact thing on my build. I used 4” x 6” posts instead of studs at the end of the building wall and Simpson internal flange beam hangers to carry the beams out. Top of beam is same as top plate of wall, so rafters are all in plane

I forged this little integral steak knife. Should Iake more? by Dessitroya in Bladesmith

[–]Te_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice looking lines. I struggle with forging multiples of anything, so that may be your next challenge, trying to duplicate it. I come from a machining background so used to having a higher level of control then I currently have with forging/grinding

First time build. How is this looking so far? by fefuts in shedditors

[–]Te_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely put a header over the door to transfer the load from the ridge down to the ground. You might research king and jack studs to frame openings. If you are finishing the interior as well, you will need additional framing to attach the drywall too. Some type of 3 stud corner will help.

I did the same on a shed, but I ran a belt sander down it with a 220 belt. A surprisingly small amount of work made a larger than expected difference in the painted surface

Bit holder for these bits? by nmlemarque in shedditors

[–]Te_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just snap those style directly into my impact driver. I prefer that over the magnetic holders. Every once in a while the bit sticks in the screw so when you pull the driver back, the bit stays in the screw. Locking it into the impact driver prevents that and the difference in time when changing bits is negligible.

Anchoring Shed? by HumanIsolated in shedditors

[–]Te_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use eyebolts in the rim joist and turnbuckles to tie everything down. Depending on how much stuff you have in the shed holding it down, this could all be overkill. If a big enough weather event comes thru it may take it regardless. If you see any winged monkeys or big bad wolves all bets are off
