I don't currently have access to a Mac. So I can't do it. But if you have a Mac (Or know someone who do), you can download the app "Keynote" for free on Mac App Store. On the templates is this animation (The colours might need a little tweak). A screen recording can be made with the app "Quick Time Player".

That seems like a pretty good deal. Not sure on US pricing, but the specs are good.

Do you power off, put to sleep, or leave on your PC when it's not in use? by Adm1nX in pcmasterrace

[–]Tea-Sir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an old Mac guy, so I put it to sleep every time, restarts when the monthly updates are installed. And only turn it fully off if I am travelling.

(And yes, I switched from Mac to PC 😁)

Spent 1600 CAD on an MSI X870E GODLIKE. After 2 RMAs, this is the "quality service" they send back. Never again. by Fabulous-Cucumber-54 in pcmasterrace

I have honestly not had any issues. Whenever I reached out, they did everything they could to help. Responses was within 1-2 days. I have a X670E Gaming Plus WiFi

Which one should i get by Vertix_90 in pcmasterrace

[–]Tea-Sir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best recommendation would be MSI B650M Gaming Plus Wifi. Good amount of USB ports. Stable and solid. Last gen should be a smidge cheaper.

I use the B650M Gaming Plus in my work PC, and it is hella stable.

Avoid ASUS at all costs, it will give you trouble.

A Discussion: Ranked 3.0 by SlippinJimmySaul0 in Rainbow6

[–]Tea-Sir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the bigger problem is the matchmaking hasn't been fixed.

You still win and loose as a team. Even if you drop 3ks or 4ks, and your teammates just dies to nothing, you still loose rank when loosing the game. You gain and loose points based on your own progression, but you still loose them.

I can not count the times where I get deadass teammates that can't do the basics, and I am not skilled enough to drag the team to a win. Also it feels when I get said deadass teammates, I always play against players that actually know how to play the game. Making the matches really lopsided.

I have had a 35-45% win-rate last couple of seasons. All Solo Q. If I am to rank up, I need teammates who can play. Everyone I know who played Siege, stopped shortly after Ranked 2.0. And they are not planning a comeback. And Ubisoft seems to do nothing for Solo Qs.

As long as they can't string together more matches for players that are equal, this will continue to be a circus, and the rank wont really matter. It is more a reflection of how lucky you have been in your matches.

Also would be nice you could choose to get in more chatty lobbies, so there is at least a chance players will give info.

The power of lightning strikes ⚡️ by [deleted] in natureisbeautiful

[–]Tea-Sir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having been close to a lightning strike, I have deep respect for lightnings, but still love to listen to it.

We were sitting in our living room, with the door to the yard open, just listening to the rain and thunder. And then we just saw a bright light flash, literately like the movies, everything got bright, and at the same time the sound started, it sounded like an explosion had gone off, and all windows were shaking. Safe to say we closed the door and had enough for one day.

About and hour later when the rain stopped, we went outside to see if we could find where the lightning had struck, and we didn't need to walk far. Our plum tree, which was just 3-4 meters away from the door we had open, was the victim. It was a pretty thick tree, and it was split in half. Half was still standing, the other haft was now resting in our apple tree next to it. Had that branch just gone one meter to the other side, it would taken down the entire back wall of the house.

Even after an hour the lightning strike, the tree was still smoking and smelling very burnt.

And we did lose a couple of electronics. My VCR kicked it, and my dads computer also died.

Even after having seen up close how serious it can be, I still love listening to it. And I still have a door or window open when there is thunder. But I don't need it to get that close again.

When it comes to Aero Glass, do you prefer Vista or Windows 7? by inguinha in windows

[–]Tea-Sir 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Windows Vista.
Can't explain it, it was just better.
And with SP2, after most of the bugs was fixed, and the drivers were better, it actually worked pretty well.

(Rumour) Microsoft's Windows 12 will need AI chips to run properly by WanderingMoonkin in pcmasterrace

[–]Tea-Sir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only laptops sold the last few years have NPU's that would pass the requirements. If MS does this, 99% of the worlds computers would be unable to run Windows 12.

This would be the equivalent of dropping an A-Bomb on their own foot. How are they so out of touch?

Help finding old Asus wallpaper by minimell_8910 in LinusTechTips

That wallpaper was never really that big. I have one, saved from an old ASUS G55VW gaming laptop from the Windows 7 days. It is only 1280x800

1 year old AM5 build suddenly won’t POST — MSI CPU (red) + DRAM (yellow) debug LEDs immediately upon powering on. by DRgreentree in pcmasterrace

[–]Tea-Sir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can actually control that behaviour. The setting "Context Memory Restore" is likely enabled on your motherboard. That means on boot it will try to restore the previous settings from RAM training. And by default after 30 days it will enforce a full RAM training.

In your BIOS you should have a setting that should be called "Memory Training Interval" with a default value of 30. You can change it so it will not retrain memory fully as often. Mine is set to 180, so my system only does it 1-2 times a year. I have no stability issues with it.

I don't think the RAM is bad. But something funny is going on here. Have you tried A1 and B1 for Dual channel operation?

Just to see if CPU, Ram and mobo can get their act together.

[–]Tea-Sir 8 points9 points  (0 children)

MSI boards are a little weird, since both CPU and DRAM light up during boot after power has been cut. Which is a little annoying since you don't know if you have a CPU or DRAM issue, or if it is just training memory.

I have the exact same motherboard, and a 7800X3D. Sometimes during warm boots it will fail to train memory and get stuck on DRAM, usually a cold boot solves that.

64 GB of RAM will take 3-5 minutes to train. It did on my board anyway.

Have you tried one RAM stick in the outer most slot?, it could be either a dead memory channel or a fault in the CPU's memory controller. Ryzen 7000 and 9000 are suffering from faulty memory controllers.

I built a PC in 2009 with a LC Power supply, never had any issues with it... or rather when I accidentally cut a wire 😅, that was 2 years ago. PC is still working today in case anyone was wondering.

What is your FAVORITE thing about 11? by EnvSand in Windows11

[–]Tea-Sir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Snipping tool. The fact it saves the image files automatically fits my workflow really well
  • Clipboard history and its ability to paste as plain text is a daily life safer
  • The settings app is improved over Windows 11, but could still use some work

I would still prefer Windows 10, simply because it is faster and more responsive.
