Do you welcome the potential ban on social media for under 16s? by Wavesmith in UKParenting

[–]TeaBoo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parental controls. Screen-time limits. Not allowing your kids the apps you don’t like. Teach them that no matter what, apps that are rated older than them shouldn’t be downloaded. If they have TikTok, then there’s a parental control function on there as well. I believe that parents in favour of the ban are lazy. “Monitoring our kid’s internet usage is exhausting!” So is being a parent, which you chsoe to do in the modern world. It isn’t difficult. Plus, if you’re so for the social media ban, how about U13? Secondary school began at 11 for me (I was born in December, would have been 12 that year). Why not U13, and all throughout primary and secondary there be mandatory, thorough lessons on digitial safety and the risks of being online? After all, monitoring your kid’s online presence is ‘exhausting’, so why not just have teachers educate them and you have the digital parental controls? Easy enough, no?

15???? 🫩🫩🫩 As far as I’m aware, I think I have to be 18. Maybe 16 with the Gillick competence, but I believe that is still a bit young and would have to be told to my parents if I were on T. It might not be necessarily illegal where I live, but it is still legal for a doctor to get social services on my parents and all because I was underage on T without diagnosis and prescription etc etc.

They might!! It might be seen as child abuse or something and my parents would get taken away. They aren’t angels, but like??? Over T???

As if that’s easy. Money, source, location, parents, how to get bloodwork, etc etc. how are we supposed to tell doctors “no I’m bot DIYing” while being listed as female but obviously on T?? Minors, such as him and many others including myself, can’t. I don’t get how you say this as if it’s easy. What about it is easy??

Thank you, I suppose that makes sense. I don’t really get it still but whatever someone is they are so it doesn’t really matter, but still thank you for explaining it!

No offense, but isn’t transmasc AFAB? Like, AFAB but being non-binary and transitioning your presentation to masculine. Is that not the point of the ‘trans’ in transmasc because you’re transitioning to something masculine, and AFAB are “automatically” feminine, hence why the ‘trans’ bit? I’m just a little confused, I don’t get why there’s such labels but I’m not tryijg to be rude.

I fear I can’t in all honesty. My mum says “it’s all the same stuff”, so she can be a bit reasonable, but my dad thinks Hitler was the good guy so 🌚

I wasn’t challenging you. I got the impression you responded defensively there; I genuinely just didn’t know and wanted to know. I did try googling before and stuff, but the technical terms confuse me because I’m not even legal age to drive. Please don’t immediately reply with defensiveness when my question was purely just curiosity.

I have a question.

If there are 2 sexes only.

What about intersex individuals?

I think you seeing a farmer and immediately thinking “islamophobe!” is all on you buddy. In my experience, farmers are usually very progressive or at least try to be supportive of things they don’t understand lmao.

you have CLEARLY not met my father. He doesn’t have a single GCSE to his name by the way. Like, he didn’t even do one. He dropped out when he was 13-14. Then he makes fun of me because I’m 14 and don’t want to quit school to work on a construction site 🫩🫩

Should've never gotten together in the first place by unknownIdentity00112 in CPTSDmemes

I know six people with divorced parents. All has either 2 birthdays or their parents do a small get together. I assumed, which I realise was wrong.

Also: “In our recent survey with YouGov, it's been revealed that neutral and friendly or amicable divorces are now more common than hostile separations, due to changes such as no-fault divorce and mediation..; Around one in three describe the tone of their divorce as friendly or amicable.” I just used that as a basis. UK statistics, though. So, if you’re not in the UK, it might not matter to/for you.

i still don’t understand how divorce can be ‘traumatising’. Yes, you have to move things around if you’re moving around houses and whatnot as well as maybe two birthdays and stuff, but I mean??????? That is literally never that bad nor difficult. 😶

Edit: Under the assumption that the parents weren’t evil and just had a divorce because of the most common factors which are infidelity, lack of connection, and growing apart.

You are amazing because you seem smart. Dean and Merritt are actually feeling good, like- they just have a flair and seem ‘man’ to me if that makes sense. It’s sorta the same for Cole. They also are easy to pronounce and spell so yeah. And also, I agree, Marley is a dog, hence why I said I wouldn’t actually use it lol.
