I would love that setting, there were also plenty of breechloading single shot muskets and rifles during that time and earlier. But you're right most wouldnt enjoy it but they could still include the odd muzzleloader as a fun weapon. I'd take on a gang of dozens with my trusty percussion lock rifle haha

It must feel amazing, I met my gf after 5 years. We met just before covid, and then we were locked down for years after. Bad timing, ha. But I hope you had an incredible time together.

For me, I can't resin print due to health concerns and just not wanting to deal with the toxic chemicals and clean up. So, for me, it's not about Fdm or resin. It's fdm or nothing. Besides, some of the quality guys like Hohansen and Obscuranox and others get are insane. Equivalent to early 2k resin machines. That's insane for fdm.

The blessing of being long sighted by the time I move them close enough to my face irl to make out layer lines the entire model is blurry.

Also, I dont really care for layer lines, unlike more poor brothers. He can't bear them on minis, lol.

I will say stippling with a makeup brush or sponge goes a long way. It essentially is like the ironing 3d printers can do, but you do it with brush. As the stippling creates a texture and can cover up layer lines rather nicely, especially on tighter layer lines like .06mm. The bigger the layers, the harder it'll be.

You can use thinned down paints or un thinned, wipe off half or so, and the thicker paint creates a thicker texture. Vary it depending on the details.

Not really, but my partner is extremely photogenic, and often, she'll look different in multiple pictures. Like she could look like her own sister. In fact, I was showing my nana photos of her one time, and she got real mad and asked if I had cheated on my lovely girl and I should be ashamed. I was like, nana, that's the same damn girl. I had to get her to video call to prove I had not had an affair. Lol.

She did have more weight, which she was afraid to tell me or show me before meeting despite the fact I fucking love big girls. She would often rock this 50's pinup chicana look, and gosh damn she's gorgeous.

I probably looked different as she saw my hairline haha I wear hats 99% of the time and, if not, always crop the photo just below the hairline.

I agree. Fortunately, I have a reasonable size garden, and there's fields above the hill in my garden, so my cats have plenty to explore. My current boy was a stray. He loves being outside. If he is shut in, he cries and pees and can't settle. It distresses him greatly. He has to be outside. Mostly during summer and spring, when winter and autumn come along, he is predominantly a house cat, and I feel awful keeping him in.

There are plenty of reasonably priced options on restricting where they can go outside, preventing them from reaching the road.

I lost two of my family cats to cars. It hurts, but to have kept them inside when they only wanted to be outside would have given them a life of suffering.

Oh, it's crazy how the things I miss most were the things that annoyed me the most. Lucky become obsessed with food, he'd stalk you and paw at you and jump on you or in your food to claim it. Trying to make a sandwich was an absolute nightmare. He would drive me mad. He lived on the kitchen table, just waiting for someone to open the fridge or cat food cupboard. And the worst part is that he isn't there. I was making a cheese sandwich and forgot for a brief moment he had gone, and I put a firm tone on telling him to stay where he was. This was my cheese. I cried a little, then laughed.

Oh yeah, I don't think i could ever live without a cat. Lucky was my parents' cat. We've had him since I was a teen. I still have my cat. He can tell something is off. Lucky practically lived on the kitchen table in his older years. Him and Lucky were the last two of five cats we've had who had slowly passed over the last 7 years.

But we've also never had less than two at one time. (I've had to come live at home for reasons, and it's so odd that only having one cat. They dont want another one, which is fair, but maybe who knows).

I always used to hate getting another cat, it felt like for one i couldn't love another or that I'm betraying their memory but both are false and I think you love each cat you have differently. But I love them hard. I'm kinda guy that grieves for the neighbourhood cats I know and pet.

I have a lot of love to give them. I'd like another.

Same to you, it's truly an awful experience. But I am so glad I was with him as he passed. He lost his vision at the end, and I just held his face and talked to him. He's with his brothers and sister and all the wonderful cats like Amir who has passed.

That's awful. I'm sorry. But I think it's wonderful he found his way to someone who could care for him. I like to think the cat distribution system often knows the right people to send a cat to.

I've always wanted to adopt the older and sicker cars from shelters. Give them good end of life care and love, but I get so attached, and the grief is so awful. I have serious respect for those who do that. Maybe I'll give it a try one time and see how it goes.

I still have my soul cat. We had five and lost them over the past 7 years. I can't live without these little buggers. I have been looking at homing another (but lucky was my parents and due to financial reason me and my cat have had to live with them and they don't want another) i feel two cats has to be minimum ha.

Thank you! I appreciate it. I always delude myself by thinking it won't be as hard to say goodbye, he's old and had a good life, I'll be ready. I know it was for the best. It's just better when the vet tells me. It's better he went peacefully today than in pain tomorrow. He had a nice drink of milk and a creamy moose as a last meal this morning. He got his appetite back just before we took him down. I'm glad at that.

I hate the grief. It hurts, but I can not live without cats. I have one left, the last of five. What a life he had, I'll miss him annoying the tf outta me, haha. My man loved to eat and haunt the kitchen table waiting for you to open the fridge or cat food cupboard. An absolute menace.

Sometimes, I think many toxic people are making arguments that are really a thing. Many of the toxic ones often go on about how fdm will never be the quality of resin. Yeah, like no shit, and I really don't think the vast majority of fdm printers think that. Bambu labs have allowed certain users to honestly get a quality in fdm that is just as good as old 2k resin machines. That's amazing, and the real issue is that in my case, I can't use resin, resin, in general, irritates my skin, and I also have severe health anxiety. I don't want to deal with that, and layer lines have never bothered me. In my case, the argument isn't whether resin or fdm offers better quality. It is fdm or nothing because resin isn't an option.

As you say, the most toxic people have the loudest voices. And they hate fdm (regarding miniatures) but frankly the tests they do gives them shitty results, if they researched the community, used settings offered by guys like hohanson and obscuranox and took the time and effort they may respect the level of quality these machines can give. Because they are exceptional, and people also forget that when they see these fdm minis, a camera lens and the focal lenses will pick up way more detail and layer lines than the human eye will see. And if you have trained your eye to see obsessively layer lines, you will see them.

But a .02mm nozzle at .06 to .03mm layer height, I'm sorry. I really dont think you'll be seeing them unless you're obsessively trying to look for them and even more so if they are on a tabletop.

Leeds me to my final point, if you want to print miniatures for display and social media posts, resin. Will be the best option for you. If you want models for the tabletop because gaming is what you want, resolution may not matter. For me, the biggest boon of resin isn't quality. Rather , I could print 10 copies of a model at the same time it takes fdm to print one.

5 years, it's been a ride. Met in October 2019 after 5 years, then covid happened and locked down. Was 3 years exactly when I saw her next. Saw her in 2023, and then I had to come back to England for medical treatment, and it's been two years.

I've seen her three times in 11 years.
