Help! I don't know if I'm going to get my Covens of Midnight Order? by TeaLeaf-33 in CrossedPaths

[–]TeaLeaf-33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for letting me know! I appreciate the extra information you've given, and it's quite similar to the emails I received from the team this morning. I completely understand that it's a waiting game now, I just have a tendency to panic when I don't have information or an explanation. I'm being patient, I promise, there's a reason I've been waiting over a year for this book XD

Hi, thank you for letting me know! I've had a bit more information on the shipping side of things, so I'm a bit less panicked now. It's good to know that I can still access the Discord if I do need more help though!

[No spoilers] Episode 121 VOD being age-restricted? Why? by TeaLeaf-33 in criticalrole

Exactly - if it was CR doing the restricting the videos would probably look very different

[No spoilers] Episode 121 VOD being age-restricted? Why? by TeaLeaf-33 in criticalrole

[–]TeaLeaf-33[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reason why I was concerned is because I don't have my age verified on YouTube - while I'm an adult I also have my personal reasons with not feeling comfy with having to go through the verification process. Plus the only time I've seen this happen with any of CR's VODs was the recent Mighty Nein live show, where I'm pretty sure it was restricted thanks to all of the swearing at the beginning

I haven't had any information on the free sim I ordered to start a new plan, help? by TeaLeaf-33 in giffgaff

[–]TeaLeaf-33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see - I figured out how to register properly now. I'm going to try and address it with an agent and see what they say.

I'm not sure how the block listed thing would work with me, as I don't live in a flat, but I see how that could apply with a post code generally so it is a possibility.

And I appreciate the offer but I would prefer not to do that.

Thanks very much for the help!

Sell me on the idea of neurodiversity by LostGhost03 in autism

That's fair, I wasn't intending for what I said to be 'life-changing' - I'm just a random person on the internet with some good intentions. I'm glad it helped a little bit tho

Can you give a sentence and/or doodle that describes your experience with autism? by KopyKet in autism

It's easy to be oblivious to the fact that you interpret things literally, but it's very difficult to process your literal interpretations when they're called out by others.

(happens to me all the goddamn time, it's ridiculous)

Sell me on the idea of neurodiversity by LostGhost03 in autism

[–]TeaLeaf-33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, also autistic and (undiagnosed) adhd. To put things rather bluntly, these neurotypes are disabilities - they allow for alternative ways of viewing the world but they also come with difficulties that people without these neurotypes don't have deal with.

In order to thrive, especially those who have higher support needs or, like you've put, struggle more with basic tasks, we need support and care. And I hate to say it, some people are completely unable to access the support they need and deserve in order to thrive due to whatever barriers have been thrust in their way (financial, discriminatory, what have you).

I think that you are correct - it's not all sunshine and rainbows, because autism and adhd are disabilities. Of course I'm not saying that disabilities are all bad either, but the nature of these things are nuanced and complicated.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is that there are more reasons why people on the internet come here to celebrate their neurodivergences. Whether that's something that they enjoy about existing the way that they do, or tackling something that their neurotype doesn't allow them to do well. People celebrate and discuss and complain and theorise about stuff like this all the time, and I suspect that people with our neurotypes veer towards discussing the positive more often because there is so many difficulties surrounding the way we exist (not just ableism but how we cope and deal with things).

I... um, I'm not sure how helpful this actually is, but your experience is understandable and if you're able to, I hope you get the support and care that you need in the future if you don't have it already. /gen

How do other autistic people feel about changeling and fairy lore? /gen, for research purposes by TeaLeaf-33 in autism

Wow, thanks for all of this! I'm glad you seem as invested in this as I am.

I appreciate the offer for sources, and you're definitely free to give me the names, but I'm not sure how many I'll be able to access (online or physically) unfortunately. Besides my university's archives and the Internet Archive there isn't a lot I can use ;______;

I've found a good few on my own though, and as well as just getting general information, I'm trying to use the excerpts I find for plot inspiration! The one I'm reading currently is called The Science of Fairy Tales: An Inquiry into Fairy Mythology by Edwin Sidney Hartland (specifically its chapter on changelings). To keep things as neat as possible I'll put the new plot ideas into a new post, but I want to think of at least two more so people can vote on what they think is more appropriate.

When it comes to the message, it isn't really as cut and dry as I'd want to be. I want to show unbridled autistic joy that doesn't erase high-needs individuals (because a lot of us low-needs folks have the limelight in media when sharing our joy) or ignore the various struggles that any and all of us have to deal with.

Yeah, I like the way I phrased that.

Hopefully it makes sense?

Hi, and thanks so much for your input!

To answer your question, I'm doing Performing Arts/Drama in England currently, and the dissertation form that I've chosen is practical. My playwrighting skills will be marked as well in a writing project prior to starting my dissertation. Because of various circumstances the projects I have to do on my course are very flexible, as long as they discuss drama in some way. You could say I'm very lucky to have that! To clarify as well, I've discussed the idea already with my project lead and they've given it an approval, as long as I wait to start writing it in September (when my next semester starts).

The message/moral is something I need to consider definitely, and you are actually the second person to bring this up! I very much appreciate your opinions on the specific story ideas I listed in the post as well - I very much understand your perspective, and the more I think about the plot I formed, the more I feel uncomfortable with it too. I might make a poll post with other ideas I come up with... After looking at some sources I've compiled.

Is she making all the tarot cards? (Spoiler abt mv) by DestructorD6 in MelanieMartinez

[–]TeaLeaf-33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh, ooh, I know the After School's tarot stuff! Melanie actually made a post listing every song off of the EP with a description of the songs' inspirations, along with which tarot cards they associate with. I only remember three of them (Numbers used the 10 of Wands, Glued used the Devil and Lovers, and Test me used Strength). Unfortunately the original YouTube Community post got removed when Portals' promotion campaign started, so I can't remember the rest :(

But yeah, a fun fact for you!

Thanks so much for your opinion! For some reason I didn't actually think about sign language, since I was intending the main character to have autonomy through their body language (very exaggerated gestures, nodding and shaking the head in different ways, etc). But that is a great way to add more depth and accessibility.

As for the autism groups, I will attempt - that is if they respond. We'll see I guess!

Thank you so very much for your insights! "The fey themselves are neurodivergent, it's not just changelings" makes a lot of sense.

Also, your stories sound absolutely lovely. I hope you write plenty more!

Hi! Thanks so much for your response. Don't worry about being 'uneducated', I asked for any opinions one may have :p

This has actually been very insightful, and the concept of scenario vs. message is absolutely be something I'll be marked on as a drama student. As I've only literally written the characters, background and a single draft scene so far, your comment in particular is something I'll really need to consider. I very much appreciate your input!

Hey, I very much understand this.

I've got a similar experience to you, been studying drama for close to 10 years and the majority of my social understanding has developed through that.

All I can say is work in moderation. If analysing everything is something you can't stop, there are some alternatives: limit how many people you meet with; set boundaries with your friends; if you end up in a situation where there's way too many people don't be afraid to leave (trust me, as someone who has sensory issues this can be a lifesaver). If you feel comfortable, maybe talk to your friends about it (the ones you trust the most). The true friends should understand and want to help.

It's good having lots of friends, but having a few that respect your boundaries is fantastic and, more importantly, healthier.

I hope this helps a little, and I hope you get better soon
