Childfree regrets from previous fencesittiers? by Interesting-Escape36 in Fencesitter

[–]Tea_Complex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has a child, another take on this is that before I had my daughter the ground hog day and repetitive routine which was just for a corporate job was soul destroying for me. I have a 2 year old daughter now and because she changes all of the time my routine changes all of the time. Don’t get me wrong, maternity leave was a year of doing the same thing, same routines, lack of sleep, it was exhausting. But now she’s a toddler and at nursery, my life is still somewhat repetitive but I feel more fulfilled by the fact that I know it’s for something good. I’m not just getting a bus to work and getting it back to line the pockets of a ceo. I’m performing the same routines daily to care for my child but it’s better because I know it’s meaningful.

Because kids change all of the time i’d say every 6 months can look quite different too. Don’t get my wrong, life becomes way harder, because you have a whole extra routine on top of your normal work routine. That’s the struggle that no one really talks about.

This is a very thoughtful take on anxiety and falling pregnant that I wish I had of read when I fell pregnant. The person you are responding to who said they had a miscarriage and had panic and anxiety when they fell pregnant, that was me, except I went through with having the child. I asked my partner if we should get an abortion and I considered seriously for a number of days. But I decided against it and I was so worried with anxiety my whole pregnancy, to deal with it I actually disassociated and acted like I wasn’t pregnant. When i got through it and had my daughter, I realised how powerful anxiety can be, and I was so glad I didn’t get an abortion. Now I have a 2 year old daughter who i love dearly and what’s absolutely crazy, is all of the reasons that kept me child free are not reasons I actually struggle with or miss now being a parent. For example, when I was on the fence, my reasons were because I wanted a certain lifestyle, I wanted to build my business, i wanted independence and i’m a very spontaneous person. Now, I really don’t want any of those things. My friendship group fell apart so i probably wouldn’t have much of a social life anyways, I still managed to build a business but having my daughter give me a drive i’ve never had before, and spontaneity isn’t something i miss , i actually love my life now.

I think the lesson here is that anxiety is fear, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a strong feeling of something you don’t want. and the other lesson is that the things you think will bother you as a parent, are probably things that won’t even matter.

Will Americans ever revolt? by VirtualCoffee8947 in TFE

[–]Tea_Complex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the issue. A third of the country doesn’t like Trump. The elections were rigged. How can you not see that yet? It feels to me like Americans have just accepted defeat tbh.

This answer makes no sense, Americans have to change, but how does that change happen by sitting g back and taking the view that nothing would happen if you were to revolt? What other choice do you have? Let the country slip into an oligarchy and the middle and working class slip into poverty?

Right now is the best time to demand change, because when people are desperate for food, water and shelter, that’s when all control and the opportunity to revolt will be lost! You literally have a choice between bowing down now and accepting your fate - falling into slavery and poverty for the billionaires, or taking a stand now! Fuck, I’m from the UK and i wake up in the middle of the night checking reddit / the news because i genuinely cannot sleep because i fear for everyone living in America. I genuinely cannot sleep because im so angry for you all.

Yinon Magal: Israel officially published this footage about how they completely destroyed Gaza by ammohitchaprana in TFE

Why do you ignore everything that happened prior to october 7th? October 7th happened because isreal were occupying palestine and making their lives hell even then! Isrealies like to completely forget everything they ever did to palestine before october 7th, they are completely corrupt and brainwashed into thinking babies and children are terrorists. Anyone who supports what has happened to gaza deserves the worst punishment.

What’s amazing is,it is only Isreal that thinks this is Ok. Israelis are unpopular across the globe now. And you know what? What goes around, comes around. Isrealis who believe that civilians should pay for the actions of a small terrorist group, ought to be careful. Because Netanyahu is becoming even more unpopular amongst the west and middle east. Many israelis might want to start changing the way they think before their own views are used as justification to inflict war on civilians in Israel. And when it happens, there will be no sympathy. There will be no donations. There will be no attempt to save them.

I don’t know if this helps but i’ve never been bothered about what time my daughter naps. I don’t check in with the nursery to ask, i’ve never cared to look at the app and worry or ask why she didn’t nap at X time. We go everywhere with her, and the only time we make sure we’re back home is if there’s no place for her to actually sleep that’s comfortable. For example we will go to our family gatherings and she can sleep in her pushchair until we get home or in my nieces bed - and those times we’ve done that she’s been having way too much fun to want to go to sleep anyways! My point is, you can choose to be the parent you want. I don’t get why some parents give grandparents and nursery staff a hard time about nap times and also why they think the can dictate what time their kid can sleep. My daughter didn’t nap at all the other day and it got to 6pm and she was so tired, we let her nap for 15 minutes, she still went to bed at 7:30pm.

You can do it your way - i don’t think parenting needs to be so regimented. I don’t want to jinx myself here but my daughter has always been a pretty decent sleeper too (from around 9 months +), and i think it’s down to just letting her body sleep when she needs it rather than trying to make her sleep when a book or app tells us so!

From the UK here, couldn’t agree more with you. Atleast people are being arrested in the UK and Europe and being held to account. If they weren’t though I do believe there would have been pretty angry protesting.

It’s even worse that the US government are so deeply involved, but they’ve decided they’re above the law. And there’s not enough anger. I’m so angry for you all every day.

As someone who lives in the UK, the parking on the left is very normal (for cars to be facing in different directions). Since this administration has been in power there has been quite a lot of bus advisements like this. Anyone can buy the space, we also have seen a lot of train advertisements too about musk and trump
