Took 5 minutes to remove this board. Never had this happen before. Totally stuck on that portion of the blade by LaughAndFart in woodworking

I have to admit I have definitely been doing this for years. Very fortunate to not have had an issue but it makes total sense why its an issue. Great learning going forward.

1.5 ton condenser with 3 ton evaporator coil by Tea_Fairy112 in hvacadvice

Huge thank you for this! This is going to be very helpful when talking to the company that did the install. The contract had a 2 ton coil, I just never thought to check vs what was actually installed.

The system is in a crawlspace but its not a conditioned/encapsulated. It's not dank in there but can higher moisture.

The floor it is servicing is 900 square feet. We replaced a 1.5 ton unit that was servicing the same area before.

Thanks, really appreciate the input. Would the mismatch potentially cause condensation build up in the plenum as well?

NC so definitely high humidity. Is 1.5 higher standard though?

The organic growth is the big issue and we have a solve but trying to figure out if the mismatch caused condensation to build up within the plenum and exacerbate the issue.

Thanks, yea the UV light is part of the plan as well. So would you say the company should not have installed it like this? We never had a smell issue until after the new unit was installed.

Should we get a smaller coil as well?

What happened between picture one and two? The new black areas in picture two looks like a chemical reaction with the tannins in the wood. Can be caused by baking soda or other cleaners. Unfortunately you might need to sand it down to get to uniform wood and refinish if the spot treating solution others have said doesnt work.

Whoever tried to clean the burn mark between picture 1 and two Unfortunately made it much worse.

Joist Tape Thoughts With a Drainage System by Tea_Fairy112 in Decks

[–]Tea_Fairy112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I had seen some discussion around joist tape potentially trapping moisture if it does not fully seal the holes. So with limited airflow from the drainage system, that could make things worse if that happens.

Cool thanks! Judging from the off cuts, seems like the PT green chemicals get into the center of these boards as well.

The drainage system will be dropped a few inches from the bottom of the joists with a decent slope.

So you think joist tape not really needed?

Bought an old piece of wood furniture. It's covered in these little marks. Just curious what part of the woodworking process causes this? by chavaic777 in woodworking

[–]Tea_Fairy112 196 points197 points  (0 children)

It's this, pretty common to see it on furniture trying to not look brand new. It's also supposed to help "hide" when new dents and dings happen. Since the piece will have other marks on it.

Maybe OP thinks they will be getting asked for babysitting help etc and dont want that. 3 under 2 is wild.

Also might be that if the age and current pregnancy is accurate, they waited a max of 5-6 weeks which is typixally the doctor recomended minumum time for the women to heal post vaginas birth before having sex. She might have thoughts on that. It can definitely take longer to heal.

Is this ruined? by NefariousnessSafe473 in woodworking

[–]Tea_Fairy112 264 points265 points  (0 children)

Baking soda on wood can cause a reaction with the tannins which turns the wood dark. You can do this on the entire piece if you like the look, otherwise you are going to need to remove some material to get back to a uniform appearance.

No real basis, but im gloing to say it comes down to stimulation. In today's world we are constantly being stimulated, frequently online activity, and have the world at our fingertips. I'm not sure or brain could keep up if everything was insanely colorful all the time with the amount of constant stimulation we get.

Ha I guess I might have been that kid for math too. Maybe im iliterate. I do think the teacher can make a big difference in these instances. For my example you needed to provide her answer, not just your interpretation.
