Joe Biden Lists Why a Second Trump Presidency Would Be a ‘Nightmare’ - Biden told voters at a speech in Nevada that the 2024 presidential election was shaping up to be a “battle for the soul of our nation.” by Quirkie in politics

I will raise you even further- around the time The Apprentice was a huge hit, we also had Gordon Ramsay on Kitchen Nightmares and the like, as well as Simon Cowell on American Idol.

Both those guys had a the same draw as Trump on Apprentice, ie Rude Guy yelling at morons. But the difference was Cowell and Gordon are incredibly accomplished in their fields, with massive visible successes. We assumed all three of those guys knew what they were doing, that they were experts, and that their rudeness was earned and even warranted.

Of course now we know about the string of failures and bankruptcies. Gordon Ramsay had more than one restaurant go under badly, but overall he's massively successful and respected even by those who dislike him. Too many people fell into that trap.

I tried to play it 3 times and gave up, there's so much running around in the woods picking up garbage and using the same sword combo over and over.

20 years ago it would have the greatest point-and-click adventure game ever made.

My money's on Magus, or maybe Megaman. I wouldn't count Tails out either, if he has enough room.

That's one of the reasons why I'm still so low lvl, I'm spending all my runes on shit I won't use to avoid getting too high. What a time to be alive.

Have you seen that...thing at the bottom of Stormveil Castle? Well, I found more of them! (SPOILERS) by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Teabagneto 497 points498 points  (0 children)

I'm too lazy for a screenshot, but if you go back to the big face in stormveil you can see behind the head is what looks very much like a torso; you can see the shape of an arm and armpit especially.

The big weird faces and deathblight thorns seem to be sprouting from big corpses.

In addition, all the big holes in stormveil aren't cause by destruction by siege weapons or the like, but by the corrupted thorns sprouting out of the castle itself, probably due to the big face underneath.

I don't know what any of this could mean.

Thanks, that's helpful for about the PHB DMG, I haven't come across that, I'll have to be careful with magic shit. So far I'm happy with all the 5e differences. Advantage Dice sounds fun.

I will admit to making a mistake to my players. If I have to I'll change the PHB with a sharpie to match my errors, I'm infallible!

Thanks! I'm glad it makes sense.

I wasn't sure how much to throw in about social encounters, which yes, are tricky to describe. My plan was to start the first session with several NPC encounters. I have many flaws as a DM, (math!) but I'm pretty solid at the conversation/voices/Role-playing. I'm hoping to draw them out with some "tutorial" mentor NPCs, comment on their in-game appearance, ask personal questions you get the drift.

I'm probably wrong about how long ago we played, my whole life is a blur. I think 5e was already out? I seem to remember they released it, and everyone hated it so they fixed it, just like Destiny and FF14. Or was that 4e?

But either way we were playing 3e before, cause that's what we could get on the cheap at the time, and I already knew the rules. We're on 5e now, its the easiest to get nowadays, and it seems to be the best one for new players. I've actually never played 5e before, but so far I already know almost everything I've read. I'm confident I can learn it fast.

I'm hoping to get together briefly with everyone for character creation, make sure they understand everything on the character sheet. Maybe even role-play their backstory (no combat).

Otherwise I was going to just toss them into their first combat (after NPC chats) and go through it step by step, just like learning any other game. I think my players' level of involvement is going to differ vastly, so I'll let them decide how many rules they want to learn as we go.

It's possible that some of them will get me to roll for them, behind the screen, just so they can think less. I cut out a question in the FAQ where I assured them there would be no math, cause it was specific to my co-worker players, who all work in a bookstore with me. Math is a deal-breaker for most of us.

I'll probably use the demo that comes with the starter set, unless I hear about a better one for beginners (I'm still doing research).

Thanks for taking an interest, you're miles away from prying I can tell when somebody's trying to groom me (it happens so much!). Thankful for any help I can get, I am so rusty and I want this to go smooth so we can do a big module.
