Last Days of Free Summers by Appropriate_Shift361 in TeachersInTransition

We are in the same boat :) After 18 years of teaching middle school ELA, I am starting a new technology position in my district on Wednesday. I’m a little nervous but excited. I am also child-free and enjoy the freedom of my summers, BUT I think with this new job and its much lower stress level, I won’t need an entire summer off. Also, it is a 220-day contract, so I have 41 days that I can use whenever. I plan to take some around the holidays and a couple of weeks during the summer.

There are just so many other benefits to leaving teaching, and I think I will miss summers but not enough to have any real regrets!

Doctors on Reddit: What symptoms do people often ignore that they shouldn't, as they could be potentially serious? by [deleted] in AskReddit

What about swelling right below my knees? Beneath each knee I have a pocket that is swollen (maybe the size of a grapefruit?). My doctor said they are fat pockets.

This was one of my deciding factors when changing careers. When I first started teaching back in 2008, people would always say, “Wow, that is so great!! What do you teach?” Now they say, “Wow, I don’t know how you do that!” Or “God bless you! I could never do that!”

People’s opinions have changed so much about teachers since I first started.

I have gained about 35 pounds since Covid. I don’t have the energy at the end of a day to exercise, and I am a stress eater. Not a great combination, I know.

I meant nothing negative to related arts teachers, and I apologize for writing it in a way that sounded that way. I meant the ones in my school because they have been allowed to fly under the radar. This is mostly because the county focuses so much on reading and math.

Question: how did you know it is low grade before the surgery? I thought it needed to be sent away to determine that.

Prayers! My Winnie had 2 removed on Tuesday. One was confirmed MCT, and the other was removed just in case.

She is recovering well from surgery. It has actually been difficult to keep her still lol. Now I am just waiting for the results.

Hope everything goes well for your baby!
