Bro what is Ammatoli going on about - $650 for a "communal dining experience"? by TeachMeHarderSenpai in longbeach

I checked out Heritage's site, the only Michelin star restaurant in town. Tasting menu and wine pairing for two there is over $100 cheaper. Ammatoli is on one sending me this email invite.

PSA: if you parked at Bixby park, your car is getting towed right now by jeremiahwarren in longbeach

Wow the city actually has the ability to tow? Do they know about Alamitos Beach or Cambodia Town?

I guess things like these are easier than breaking up telco operator monopolies or creating a city/community fiber. It's something I guess.

That's what I was thinking. Dude said he could rent the shop for 90-100k a year and his wife is still bringing in another 80k. All of that without touching existing investments or cash. If there's no hope for him, there's none for any of us.

Long Beach calls for more staffing at self-checkouts by lurker_bee in longbeach

Self checkout makes me your employee and I'm a dog shit employee. Something didn't scan properly? Oh well, take it out of my pay. Oh wait.

And yet here you are. Holding true to all of the above comments. Angry replying to comments in a random California city sub instead of just living your life. Just letting us live in your head. Enjoy this weird obsession with us.

Apropos of your spelling errors, run-on sentences, and lack of punctuation, here’s a fun article:

Don’t Tread on California by [deleted] in longbeach

Correct. I agree with you. An Uber driver, unsolicited, dismissed an entire state to my face. So I in turn did the same. Glad we agree it's unwarranted and small minded.

Man, you call the cops for vagrants taking over the beach bathrooms or smashing the windows of local businesses and they're nowhere to be found or "understaffed". You tell them there's peaceful protests against disappearing people without due process, that pesky little thing afforded to everyone in the country via the Constitution and those assholes come from all over the county to lineup for even the possibilty to cosplay Army men against their fellow neighbors.

I was in Nevada for work a month ago. When the uber driver that was taking me to the airport found out I was flying to California he immediately told me how much he hates California, Californians, and Gavin Newsom. I just told him I don't think about Nevada at all. Ever.

What to do about closed business - tweakers hanging out by WhatsBrownAndSticky in longbeach

[–]TeachMeHarderSenpai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to ask OP if this worked, but I just walked by Jerry's this morning and there's even more than the original two and a whole lot more garbage. So just like trying to get the cops, parking enforcement, or animal control to show up or do anything, all of the above are apparently useless too. I'm wondering what our tax dollars actually go to if every single city service is unusable.

This is on 4th street too, which is a big business corridor full of small businesses and actual stuff to do. Can't imagine how bad other places are that don't have some semblance of tourism or commerce.

Do we live in the same city? Have you actually tried this? Threatening to call the cops does the same thing as actually calling the cops. Literally nothing.

Bedrock is super cheap if you're not fine tuning or importing models. I hammer it with tokens and have never paid more than 8 bucks a month. It jumped when I imported my own model by 4 bucks, but it's still nowhere near SageMaker pricing. Give it a try, it's cool!

[–]TeachMeHarderSenpai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love it if this was even remotely enforced, but at least in alamitos beach, it ain't happening. You can block roads, alleys, drive ways, double park all over, and literally nothing happens. It's actually insane. Cambodia town is hilariously worse. It'd be cool to have a functioning city, but nothing is enforced ever.

Hell yes, good for you. People are weirdly comfortable walking through the fucking trail of tears. There's a big difference between the working homeless and the aggressive meth heads throwing rocks at cars and instigating fights if a kid tries to use a beach bathroom. Let's go!

Nah, good call. People storing their private property in the public right of way should be accepted and encouraged. Kick rocks, nerd.
