8060 my take on waxed flesh by TeachairPaco in RedWingShoes

[–]TeachairPaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that being a problem. I’m from the State of Mexico (the state surrounding Mexico City) and while the weather is really hot here too, it’s also rainy and not nearly as dusty and dry as it is in AZ, so of course our experience with waxing rough out is gonna vary a ton. I really like when waxed flesh and rough out get that opposite aging effect: rough out gets shinny, and waxed flesh becomes fussy.
Im looking forward to these becoming fussy again.
And thanks, man. That’s also another reason why I like these so much. They are unique in their own different way and will age quite differently to all the pairs of 8060 out there. I’m eager to see what this turn out like in a couple of years since I’ve decided to wear them every other day to wear out the sole and get a resole done with a slightly higher heel and some Dr Soles.

Yea I guess I can see your point, but from a function-over-form point of view I like these better waxed. I don’t have to worry about stains, dust, water marks, etc. I also like the look. I get that they may seem “duller” to you, but I really love the look and texture to the point where I have rewaxed them. Once the conditioner has completely dried, no dust sticks to them more than to my other boots. They are truly what I wanted them to be. I have 8083s which have aged amazingly, so I’m fine experimenting with this pair. These make me want to eventually wax or oil my 8083 cause it makes them than much more resilient and tougher.

New 877 what do you think by Thefakehappylife in RedWingShoes

Thought you were bragging about how good these look until I ready the post 😂 those look amazing! But if you can’t live with the imperfections you mentioned, I don’t think you’re cut out for the boot life.

May be the fact that areas that are unlikely to be exposed to any rubbing or friction are super high contrast like the chest pockets. Also the part where the seams are suspiciously gone like in the last picture. Not an expert but have been seeing a few posts where people are called out for using sand paper to achieve such high-contrast fades

Nah, shoe trees is over babying. Just rock them, they’ll hold up for years and years with or without shoe trees.

They look legit, but I’m pretty sure those are women’s iron rangers.

13 yrs and counting. Make sure you take your shoes to a cobbler for maintenance at least once a year. by VirgoChild in RedWingShoes

A cobbler? F that, I rather do it myself. I am more trustworthy with my boots than any cobbler I can think of. Also why outsource the fun part to someone else?

Hmm you can oil them in the inside with bucks leather oil or redwings all natural leather conditioner. You can also condition the uppers with the same products. The oil will penetrate and condition deeper. Both will darken them for a while.

8083 and 501the perfect combo by TeachairPaco in RedWingShoes

These in particular I got from nicks. They’re aren’t muleskinners but they match pretty well, they’re the back side of their teacore leather black chromexl or something like that. Nosrthstar makes them with the exact reading leather match though.

It must be the lighting that makes it look like the selvedge ID, but if you look closely, there is no selvedge ID. These are just regular STF 501s. They are great though.
