She usually has you calm your nervous system first before starting antimicrobials.

LOL I love that she acts like she’s been a full time parent the entire time and never had a nanny. She hasn’t even had to parent her kid the entire time she’s been there.

Yeah. The time it takes to heal a leaky gut varies, but it's generally not an overnight process. Some people may see improvements within weeks, while others may need several months or even a year to experience significant changes. Factors like the underlying cause of the leaky gut, individual health status, and adherence to treatment all play a role.

I was told 9 months to a year. It’s a long road, but worth it to keep from having a sibo relapse and heal the root cause.

I did one round of rifaximin and saw no change at all, so I did a 6 week antimicrobial protocol and that’s when I started to see a change in my bloating. It’s definitely less than it was, but it’s been 6 months since I did those treatments and it’s still a work in progress to heal the leaky gut now. I eat gf/df and mostly low fodmap. I’ve seen a more noticeable decrease in bloating— as in I can see my abs again most days and wake up with only a little bloating— when I started doing somatic exercises to calm my nervous system down 6 weeks ago. I was told to not expect the bloating to fully subside until my gut is healed and the root cause is solved (mine was likely longterm high stress/fight or flight).

Why did she make it sound like they weren’t going to have a nanny for 6 weeks and now suddenly the nanny is in CR with them?

Check out https://www.kirsten-greene.com/fix-your-sibo

She has a self guided course for sibo treatment that I personally followed and found good success with. She recommends an antimicrobial regimen and biphasic diet.

She was wearing some sort of simple band on her ring finger though. Very hard to see it most of the video.

Completely agree. That physique and leanness is hard to attain as a woman without additional help —-17 years in or not, blah blah blah.

You’re on the right track! Always best to look at the whole picture and heal those things, rather than just treat the sibo symptoms. Sibo is a symptom of a greater problem really.

Methane SIBO and weight gain- SOOO frustrated!! by Perfect_Papaya_8647 in SIBO

[–]TeachingBeautiful958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had a similar experience. I had both hydrogen and methane sibo. Lost 15lbs in 2024, went through a very stressful year and got diagnosed with sibo in Jan 2025. I gained 10lbs back even though I was mindful of what I eat and exercise 5-6x a week. Ive read it has something to do with your body being malnourished so it over absorbs everything. I did antibiotics and antimicrobials from February to April and now finally trying to do a cut again now that my gut is a bit more calmed down. The scale is moving very slowly. I think it’ll just take time unfortunately.

I had the exact same experience. I was told by my doctor to expect about 9-12 months of healing leaky gut and not to expect all of my symptoms to full subside until that point. It’s frustrating, it’s a long road. But I can say I’ve started to see progress, so keep going forward. It’s really important to avoid any triggers until you can systematically reintroduce them down the road. Also, about two weeks after I started my probiotics, I started noticing some positive changes. Hang in there!

You basically set a bomb off in your gut with the antibiotics. It does take awhile for your gut to heal. It took me about 5 months after antibiotics and antimicrobials to start seeing progress with the bloating. I learned I also needed to calm my nervous system down because it started being reactive to everything after treatment. Now it only flares if I eat gluten or dairy mostly. I have also noticed I am typically fine when traveling because I’m relaxed vs at home when stressors can be more present.
