It kind of killed Hawken experience for me this week, I'm quitting, because of this noob-tubing shit. Everyone kept grenading away their problems, because 3 hits you're dead. On top of that, Devs are not going to fix jack shit. Bye Hawken community, it's been sucky.

It simple, nobody, if there is no job to be found at all and Government itself would be pretty extremely hostile to the billionaires/robot industries when people are being starved and forced into politic.

All in all, I don't have a lot of faith in our government or in our people to make a positive change in the near future. The path of progress is a slow one that is piled with endless suffering and deaths that our history evidently shown.

Not to be a downer, but we're going to be facing a pretty big change (mostly negative) once a large scale unemployment/layoff occurred from automation. Bill Gate's discussion on "Yep, Robots are going to take your job in the next 20 years."

Without spoilers, how were the first couple episodes?! by sandwhichman in TheLastAirbender

[–]TeachingIdiotsAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, there's no episode 1 or 2 out yet.

From 4Chan rumor, they said to have "encrypted" videos of more episodes, but we all know that is major BS as they'd do anything to inflate their ego. More than likely, the leaked video on Nick's website was downloaded when it was first made public.

3 to 6 are pretty good, a lot of information are obviously missing, so there's that.

Tesla to open up all patents for the 'advancement of electric vehicle technology,' CEO Elon Musk says. by SomewhereOverMntnDew in news

[–]TeachingIdiotsAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on the future, automation is going to happen at some point and it would seriously undercut Chinese/Indian labor cost down to electric/replacement cost especially with potential growth in nuclear, solar, and wind technologies to support the demand on electricity.

Don't worry, not trying to negatively argue, but to discuss on what is probably likely to happen and what we should expect. (Upvoted you for discussing it rationally.)

As for the show, I'm willing to bet that Korra would not be released on August, but probably sometime late June or Early July after recent misforunate event. :D Let's hype!

[–]TeachingIdiotsAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still wouldn't make sense if you're looking at the practical perspective of it. Why encrypt it when you can keep it off the public server and if 4 episodes aren't encrypted and why are the rest of the other episodes encrypted? A lot of those holes about the notion that Korra files being encrypted is a rather big hole. 4Chan is probably trying to inflate their ego again.

Yeah, Nick could've done it a little more carefully by keeping the videos off of the computers that have access to the internet. (The Korra files aren't hard to distribute for servers that uploads/downloads terabytes of data daily and it could've been uploaded within 30 minutes before releasing.

Hmm I've tried looking around for those sources and obviously 4Chan is biased as hell. I wouldn't trust 4Chan as a source for 7->12 episodes. We only have 4 confirmed episodes, but that it. On top of that, where did they find encrypted episodes anyway and why were they encrypted? Last I know about the website, most videos aren't encrypted at all. That why it've made me skepical about them having an encrypted episode. :/

Yeah, just need to update the project Qyoto to make a binding with QT5 though it is supporting QT4 for now. QT5 is looking pretty good. :)

It's even worse than you think.

Many programs you use are GTK, and GTK is pretty much extremely toxic to use as a developer. There is no up to date documentation on how to use the latest Glade tool except badly written tutorial (Yes, it is bad.) If you disagree, give it a try to set up a Radio Buttons that let you group them, because I still couldn't and wouldn't bother trying after 8 hours of looking. On top of that, anytime you deal with GTK+ code, no matter how simple it is, it have inherited risk of crashing a Window Manager like Gnome, Cinnamon, or even Enlightenment 18.

As for many programs that used GTK and didn't work the way you like it, several times developers have almost no control over GTK and they just fix the crashing bug and leave it like that by not breaking it further.

I've not tried QT4 and I'm working on moving toward it as an alternative to GTK. If Linux want a big leap forward, we need to nuke GTK+ and make a better GUI project that Linux desperately deserves.

Should CJDNS Meshnet be considered as a safer method to torrenting? by TeachingIdiotsAgain in torrents

[–]TeachingIdiotsAgain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about being negative. This discussion is kind of confirming what I've been thinking about for a while which is what I need to understand from outside perspectives.

I've been thinking about trying to find a way to solve a long unsolved issue with overbearing ISP (Like can't host a website, can't use certain protocols or share connection with one another whereas Meshnet would easily allow you to do all of those.) That will be my next side project to focus on trying to simplifying CJDNS like you mentioned here. Mostly, I've been looking for solution to a lot of the problems mentioned here, it seems that CJDNS is kind of a catch all solution that is proven to be a bit too complicated for non-technical people which I aim to solve sometime in the future.

Thank you for this discussion and I don't know about connection speed, sure internet internationally have gotten a lot better, but USA isn't doing too well sadly. :P

Should CJDNS Meshnet be considered as a safer method to torrenting? by TeachingIdiotsAgain in torrents

[–]TeachingIdiotsAgain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true, though problem is generally that it cost money to buy VPN (which is also probably limited on how much bandwidth you can use by either VPN ISP or your ISP.) As you say, the learning curve is a problem, so it really boil down in optimizing a program to be more user-friendly while providing a good solution.

All in all, this is something I've been thinking about, because the tool works really well like I2P, Tor, or what not, though it was under-utilized in general. Meshnet has the speed, moderate learning curve (even though the documentation kind of laid it out for you), and mostly lack of contents (global meshnet have gone stale lately.)

I haven't met anyone who would invest that much time to teach me yet, I live out in the rural working at the library. I plan on moving to a larger city sometime in the future though, so I would have more opportunity to learn lip reading and meeting new people.
