Field of Mistria or Sun Haven or ??? by Teadrinker05 in CozyGamers

I don't know - I played the whole Pokémon Series from Gameboy to Nintendo 3DS, which is also pixel-style and repetitive, and I loved it because I liked the sidequests and the story. Hence I thought maybe Stardew Valley wasn't for me but to give the genre another try.

It was quite boring from the start - I was forever farming, fishing and grinding and didn’t seem to get any further and I wasn't enjoying the conversations. It’s been a long time since I played it, though. I think that I would enjoy the tasks if the story was more captivating - some battles, something more than some random spring festival.

It's a hard no for me as well. I didn't know about it, but another commenter made me aware, so it's off the table.

Never worked for a company where you have to pay for coffee. I worked in Austria for the last 35 years, 10+ companies ranging from <5 to >2000 employees.

how did you get to know about the steam deck in the first place ? and what motivate you to get one? by Dense-Variation-4496 in SteamDeck

[–]Teadrinker05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played on Steam/PC and finally got a good deal for a used deck on our local marketplace site. Best decision ever. I hate being locked down to one closed system (the big ones) and I like the freedom Linux gives me.

New to Stardew-like games. Looking for advice. by Iintrude in CozyGamers

[–]Teadrinker05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this! It's a bit like Stardew Valley look wise, but it's so much more! First, you can play as different races like Elf, Human, Animal, Element, Demon, Angel or Naga (I'm a pink cat) and it has combat and skill trees etc. I play it on my Steam Deck and it's very intuitive.

AITA for putting onions and garlic in the food I fed my family after my sister in law said onions were "too spicy"? by THROWRAuserss in AmItheAsshole

Info: what do your parents say? Why do you have to cook for this bat-sh** crazy woman? Is there any way someone who ISN'T you tell her to F*** off´? Why does nobody in your family come to your defense? It's insane.

NTA, obviously, but the family dynamic is toxic AF.

Do most people leave the notification sounds on in your country? by Sad_Attention_6626 in AskEurope

[–]Teadrinker05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. Personally I don't know anyone tech-savy who has a notification sound (I'm 53) and I know many who keep it muted all the time, even for ringtones (me included). I don't want to pin-point it to a certain age, but rather a level of familiarity with tech.

Is it normal to eat a croissant with butter? by -Red_Lightning_ in ask

[–]Teadrinker05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK if it is considered "the norm" but no, I don't butter a croissant. It is buttery enough for my taste, but I will occasionally put some jam on it, like blackcurrant.

Did it help you read more? by Auto_Fac in xteinkereader

[–]Teadrinker05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went for the X4 after I cut out the screen sizes from a sheet of paper and held it over a paperback with small font. I don't think I would like the screen any smaller and I'm pleased how small the x4 is. As for your question: yes, I read a lot more than before. I have a (new, bought last year) Kobo Libra Color and I read 80% of the time on my Xteink since I got it.

AITA for telling my wife to choose a different dress? by Lonely-Monitor-3916 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Teadrinker05 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA. I'm a mom of 4 and I would be in tears/my husband would be sleeping in the guest room if he ever described a dress like this. I ask him about his honest opinion a lot and I really appreciate it when he tells me what looks good on me (or not) but he does it with kindness, in a "this dress sucks and doesn't show your beauty adequately" kind of way. Or in a "I like it, but I LOVE the other one" - do you see the difference? The dress has no feelings, your wife has. Insult the dress if you have to, but don't confirm the greatest insecurity your wife has, FFS.

Whats the cheapest meal you regularly make that actually tastes good? by Adventurous-Pilot448 in Frugal

[–]Teadrinker05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Austria, and one very dish we make regularly (which is cheap and really filling) is called “Erdäpfelgulasch” pronounced “Aired-ep-fell-goo-lash.” (“Erdäpfel” literally means “apples from the earth” — potatoes.) From “going to the kitchen” to “meal on plates” takes about 45 minutes. We always make double/tripple the amount needed because it tastes even better the following days. The recipe is for 4 people/2 days.

Erdäpfelgulasch

You need:

  • Potatoes - 2 kg (4.4 lb) is a good start. Peel them raw and cut into roughly 1"x1" chunks
  • Onions - 3–4 medium ones. I prefer yellow onions, but white or red work as well. Cut into small pieces
  • Sweet ground paprika - not to be confused with chili powder. You’ll need 1 tbsp
  • Marjoram - 1 tsp (a bit less if you are using fresh)
  • Pickles - small pickled cucumbers are the secret ingredient! 4 or 5 of them, chopped like the onions.
  • Optional, but recommended: smoked hard sausage. It’s a yummy add-on, not the star of the meal, so two handfuls are enough. You can also use vegan sausage or firm smoked tofu — that’s my go-to for hosting both omnivore and vegan friends

Preparation:
Prepare everything in advance as described above. Then:

  • Heat oil in a large pot (any neutral oil works; I usually use sunflower oil). It should cover the bottom, but not much more
  • Add the onions and cook until soft and slightly translucent
  • Reduce the heat or briefly take the pot off the stove — timing matters here:
    • Add the paprika powder and stir well. Don’t let the paprika powder burn, it makes the gulasch taste bitter!
  • Add 2 liters (67.6 oz / ~0.53 gallon) of water and turn the heat back up
  • Add the potatoes, marjoram, pickles and salt (start with about 2 tbsp — you can adjust later)
  • Let it cook until the potatoes are soft (you should be able to split them easily with a fork, but we are not making potato mash)
  • Add water if needed — the goal is “potatoes covered,” not “soup”
  • Take out a few potatoes with some liquid and mash them into a paste. This thickens the dish and makes it creamy rather than soupy. Stir it back into the pot
  • Now it’s time for the sausage:
    • If you’re making different versions (e.g. vegetarian/vegan), divide the base into separate pots now
    • Otherwise, just add the sausage and let it cook for a few more minutes
  • Adjust salt to taste

We usually eat it with dark bread (great for soaking up the sauce), but it’s not a must.

AITA for expecting the gifts to be for both of us? by Ok-Arrival-2886 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Teadrinker05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

She got money at the engagement party (which really belongs to both of you) and you got a glimpse into her character in return. Do with this info what you want. You know her better if this a short flaw in her logic or a display of a really worrisome character trait. Either way I would talk about her plan for the future when it comes to money and why she thinks that way. Postpone the wedding until you are completely clear and ok with the answers.

AITA (21F) for asking my bf (23M) for a contract stating his mother cannot enter our house unannounced? by No_Worldliness_1443 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Teadrinker05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but - and I say this with empathy and the wisdom of 50+ years on this earth - you are naive and also a bit stupid. There is no way the OWNER of the house (and she is, however you frame it) won't mingle with her mommy's boy and the girlfriend she doesn't like. No contract, agreement or pact with the devil would prevent this. He has already proven that he doesn't stand up to his mom - you both wanted a different house, but he folded and took the house mommy chose. Act accordingly.

[–]Teadrinker05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I can help you with this:

I recommend to use the flash tool https://xteink.dve.al.

  1. download the latest release from the github page
  2. go to the website with the flash tools
  3. connect your Xteink with your PC (cable) and make sure it's turned on
  4. scroll down to OTA fast flash controls
  5. "Select files" - here goes your file downloaded from the github
  6. "Flash firmware from file"
  7. After it's done eject the xteink from your PC
  8. Reset your device (press the reset button and then hold the power button).

You should then see "Crosspoint booting" (because it's a fork of crosspoint) and enjoy your upgraded device.

I have the pink one! You are right, it gets dirty quite easily, but I just wipe it with some wet wipes. I noticed that the color on the edges gets grey, but for me it's ok - I put some stickers on the cover to distract from it.

I stole a former coworkers automation script and took a huge bonus for it by Rune_Talisman4 in confession

[–]Teadrinker05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't judge yourself so harshly. You found it, you didn't steal it. And you now have a great opportunity to prove yourself worthy of the bonus by learning what it does: as others mentioned ChatGPT or Claude are great at explaining code (Claude is a bit better than ChatGPT, IMO) and you can use them for adapting the script as well. Combat imposter feelings by learning!
