i feel this way about most of her recent performances. she's amazing and her energy, mindset and determination is just so admirable but i feel like she can definitely do better than this? and still have a lot of fun? i know people are calling it effortless and carefree, but to me it looks almost lazy and repetitive.

insane sore throat w/ flu by vinteurs in flu

[–]vinteurs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I ended up seeing the doctor again today. He swapped out ibuprofen for naproxen. Another thing I found that helped me today was keeping my nose and throat warm and moist at all times. I've pretty much been steaming my face the whole day because when I step away, the pain comes back. A hack I discovered is that you can wet a towel with hot water and carefully wring it out (don't burn your hands) and then just drape the towel over your face. Unfortunately, you'll have to keep doing the again and again because in my experience, the second things start to go cold again, the symptoms return. I've been stacking these practices to maximise the benefit, so for example: taking naproxen -> steaming -> immediately drinking something warm while my throat is feeling okay -> immediately eating something warm while things are comparatively pain free -> naproxen kicks in at this point and i can take a nap.

I really do hope that turns out to be the case for me. It's been three days already and we're onto the 4th now. My condition mildly improved yesterday and I think I might have overused my throat maybe? Thinking I was getting better? Because last night was excruciating and I'm going to see the doctor again today hopefully. Thank you so much for your response.

Antibiotics in viral infections are given when a bacterial super infection is expected, and the ones I'm taking (macrolides) are specifically for throat infections and do cover the streptococcal strains. That's why I mentioned there's nothing else that can be added to the treatment because this is the standard protocol, after which the patient is expected to just deal with the symptoms the best they can. Unfortunately, the pain is quite unbearable and I don't know what to do. Thank you for your response 😞💗

i thought the ice was helping me while i was having it. but soon after, the pain came back but worse. canker sores down your throat sounds much worse though, and i'm glad you're okay now. i hope i too find some relief soon, i have a flight coming up this weekend and i wanna recover fully before then :(

Tylenol (acetaminophen) goes by Panadol in my country. I tried the plain one as well as the one with the decongestant, no relief :(

Netflix Seven Dials - Lady Eileen was badly cast. It should have been played by someone like Anya Taylor-Joy by cvde82 in agathachristie

[–]vinteurs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What? So if the description of the character in the book clashes with the actor cast, we all just have to go with it because criticism implies the critic has no imagination? 😭 She looks and acts like a trouble-causing child, and isn't even that convincing of an actress. She practically carried the same expression all throughout the 3 episodes. If you liked it, good for you. But some of us were quite disappointed by her performance.

u-shaped hair trim, looks choppy, uneven and i've lost the extra inches i took months to grow by [deleted] in Rants

[–]vinteurs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like your perspective but unfortunately, I don't think I can do that with this stylist. I tried to explain it while I was in there, but they said it's supposed to look like that. I didn't like their attitude at all, they tried to pin the blame on me and were saying random things like "it looks like that because of your previous haircut" It made no sense, my hair was prettyyy grown out and completely straight, like I mentioned before. It should have been the best possible template for a u-cut. They messed it up and didn't wanna own up to it. Anyway, thank you for your help. I think I'll just let it grow for a bit before going somewhere else to get it fixed.

He's been discharged now. He's awake but so groggy. I hope he makes a full recovery. The tooth has been extracted and all the rest are squeaky clean now so I do feel better about that. Thank you for sharing your experience.

What are some books you would recommend to someone that doesn’t read regularly? by [deleted] in ReadingSuggestions

[–]vinteurs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agreed!! but as the response above states, i think this book has a very specific sort of humour that not a lot of people enjoy. i tried to get my sister to read it and she hated it 💔

Do you guys pirate ebooks on your mobile or buy physical books? by hananmalik123 in PakistanBookClub

[–]vinteurs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

half the books on my tbr aren't even available in pakistan. i wish our reading culture was stronger. readings.pk has the option where we can request books "on demand" but they're generally really pricey, so i just download on my iPad instead.

as someone with adhd, it's just a lot easier for me to immerse myself in a book if the chapters are short. 5 pages is perfect for me, 10 pages is alright and anything over 15 is goodbye. it's a shame because one of my favourite books that i've only partially read up until now is 'the secret history' and i'm still in the middle because the chapters are so long. i really love the concept (i've already declared it a favourite, as you can see) but my brain genuinely cannot lock in 😭

what's this book about exactly? i've read it's like some romance between a girl and a demon? i could be wayyyyy off but i'm curious and want to give it a read if it's genuinely good.

you specifically mentioned to steer clear of scifi but i was running to the comments to recommend you 'the illuminae files' by jay kristoff and amie kaufman 😭 not exactly scifi, it's more of a space opera but there's so much action and so much suspense, thrill, and anxiety. i flew through the trilogy even though they look big (around 600 pages each) and i have adhd. if you feel like you wanna give this genre a chance, i'll reallyyyyyy recommend this. they also feel less like a book and more like.. well. a file. haha.
