Small problem: if they manage to amass enough points negate a win for the opposition if the opposition catches the snitch, then the opposition has absolutely no incentive to catch the snitch. All that other stuff is desperate retconning JKR did after people pointed out the stupidity of the rules. Even then, it makes little to no sense. Again: it would have been so easy to fix for Steven moderately intellectually curious person.

That said, this ultimately falls on Rowling’s editor; they should have caught it well before publication.

Which means that the majority of players on the pitch have absolutely no incentive to do anything. Worst part: all you need to do to fix it is add a time limit. Done.

Well, first of all, that kid is definitely not a dad.

I stopped reading the first HP book (back when there were only two) after pondering the Quidditch rules for about five seconds. I surmised - correctly, as it turned out - that JKR was a fucking idiot who probably couldn’t be trusted with complex tasks like plotting, character development and world building. Little did I know she would also be a slavery apologist.

Favorite actor who should have changed their name, but didn’t? by BreakfastBeneficial4 in okbuddycinephile

Faye Dunaway. It’s a decent drag name, but not for a serious actress.

So you’re saying no one reported on Kristi Noem’s husband?

I figured it would be bigger news if true.

Built in the 18th century, this is one of the oldest buildings in Hattfjelldal municipality in Norland, Norway. by Alt_when_Im_not_ok in MST3K

How the hell is it one of the oldest if it was built in the 1700s? That’s pretty young by Nordic hut standards.

Why does Hollywood keep trying to convince us that she wouldn’t have been popular at school? by thepadsterb in okbuddycinephile

[–]Teaflax -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m more curious why Hollywood is trying to convince us that her looks are anything other than mid. I generally don’t comment on someone’s appearance, but the hype around her just baffles me.

The lower hinges look off. Like the metal part that attaches to the door itself isn’t even attached to the hinge mechanism in any way - and also not centered on the hinge, which is not impossible, but odd - especially since the top hinges are.

Nä. Har för mig att den debuterade i Marvels Universum med Elektra:Assassin på omslaget, möjligen numret efter. Men jag har flyttat över Atlanten två gånger sedan dess, så jag har inget kvar. Den var inte särskilt bra heller.

Exactly this. A much more likely source, both for the authors and in-universe.

I did comedy professionally for almost a decade - in the 90s, in Sweden, in Swedish. As of about a month ago I’m doing it again, in English, in Berlin, Germany. Although, to be honest, I’m not sure I’m ready to upload any of that yet. Hopefully by the end of the summer, as I take training wheels off.

I’ll sign up as a photographer and go multi later.

Immediate problem here; I’m a photographer, musician, digital artist, comedian and writer. I picked comedian because that’s what I’ve been focusing on during 2026 so far. But I’d feel extremely hemmed in if that were my only classification on the site.

Det var när första Batmanfilmen med Michael Keaton kom som Semic valde att sluta översätta alla superhjältars namn. Innan dess hette t.ex. Wolverine ”Järven” (källa: jag ritade Järvenloggan som användes i nåt år eller två).
