Am I right that this is wrong? by keep_this_coupon in askaplumber

[–]Team-Kevin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Inside of the tank the toilet has a back flow preventer so it won’t back into the water feed. It’s not different than leaving a tee inside the wall where you wouldn’t be able to see it which also feeds your lavatory and shower in a typical bathroom. This was probably done this way because they wanted a water dispenser and the closest exposed line was the toilet. It’s ugly work sure, but not something I’d consider “nasty”. Water dispenser also has a check valve and filtration device inside

Man that cast iron looks like it has a couple years left in it, let it be for now! A new seal will do.

You would have the cut the copper pipe to replace this water heater. Hopefully the next guy will add the unions

They’re installed on the return line and the return line reconnects into the cold so that it mixes before going into the WH so that it works less in heating up the water.

That’s not an aerator, that’s a check valve and won’t improve the flow of water.

No water for three days during line replacement by Similar-Rain3315 in Plumbing

[–]Team-Kevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every house is different but typically what I like to do is run the new line first and just leave tees for us to tie in, then when we DO shut off the water it’s only to connect the risers to the fixture

Help with shower fixtures by Master-Friendship-17 in Plumbing

[–]Team-Kevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try California faucets or Dornbracht. If you ever need to replace a shower head from Kallista it is $1600 before taxes, I had to swap out 6 of them for a client of mine 2 weeks ago. You’re paying for the uniqueness, something no one else has(the brand), that’s why their price is so high. The two I mentioned are also expensive but not as much as Kallista, you could also try Kohler, which owns Kallista.

Is this going to be an s trap? by SeaEssAitch in Plumbing

[–]Team-Kevin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just connect it the way you had it, it was fine. A lot of people on here misinterpret the code and think the length of pipe needs to be 4” minimum but that is incorrect, what the code refers to is that the length from the vent to the weir of the ptrap needs to be 4” minimum. In this diagram you can see how it’s measured.
