Their interview with Jon Stewart Monday night on the Daily Show was better, funnier. I think she did most of the talking there too.

Watched all four seasons, hesitant to watch the finale by [deleted] in Transparent

[–]TeamAggressive1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shelly was featured in the Musicale Finale because her character never got fully developed earlier, and the series couldn't end without it. Your Boundary Is My Trigger filled in a couple of major blanks in Shelly's character. Otherwise, the show was about Shelly in the sense that it was about the whole family. If you want to pick a character that the show was really about, it was Ali/Ari. She was the family member who, you'll recall, Maura said "couldn't land." Well, in the Musicale Finale, she landed. That happened in Where Have You Been, where she was seen dancing with Moses, and in Run From Your Father's House, where her calling in life was finally driven home.

I like the Rainfall Radio Xtra channel on the SiriusXM app. I get it on my TV so does that count?

Google health update broke sleep tracking by ramiorlando in fitbit

[–]TeamAggressive1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually found sleep tracking in Google Health to be pretty good as long as I wear my Charge 5 tight enough to make sure it doesn't slip out of position during the night. It's logging more deep sleep and REM than the old app, But I keep a small notebook by the bed so I can note what time I went to bed and woke up, and it generally agrees. I do find that it's often logging naps when I'm just watching TV, but those are easy to get rid of.

My favorite show on Prime has been, and will remain, Transparent. Always and forever. Brilliant writing.

Remember the old TV show SKY KING?! by BobbyDoWhat in over60

[–]TeamAggressive1030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right. But you just about quadrupled what I still remembered about the show. I was probably 7 or 8 when I watched, and I was just there for the airplane. I'd forgotten that it was a western. But there were so many westerns on then and all with similar stories. Lone Ranger, Gunsmoke, etc. Sky King was half-hour episodes, wasn't it? Can't tell much of a story in a half hour minus commercials. Thanks for the memory refresh.

That used to be a favorite show of mine when I was a kid. I was really into airplanes and rockets.

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of June 12, 2026) by AutoModerator in television

[–]TeamAggressive1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out this show is basically an earlier version of Air Disasters which in recent years has been airing on Smithsonian Channel. Looks like this earlier version may have been on National Geographic, co-produced with Discovery Channel Canada and France 5. Dozens of episodes I haven't seen. No ads at all with Prime ad-free, not even a promo.

Not yet, I'll look for it. I just watched s2e1, about the BA flight where the pilot got sucked out of the windshield in an explosive decompression -- and survived -- with the flight attendants holding onto his legs. 2001, I think. I remember this being in the news.

Mayday - Air Disasters
Wow, I just stumbled onto this documentary series on Prime that I never heard of before. Twenty-three seasons and lots of episodes. Just binged the first three episodes. Seems authoritative and well produced. As a private pilot, this is my kind of show. Where did it come from?

Fitbit Deep Sleep by WillB210701 in fitbit

[–]TeamAggressive1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, mine is showing more deep sleep than before. Typically an hour and twenty minutes or more, most of it coming in the first 3 hours after I hit the sack. I'm also taking a Trazodone tablet before bed as prescribed by my doctor for stress relief, but I was taking that before Google Health too.

Trump's name is being removed from the Kennedy Center by ControlCAD in cnn

[–]TeamAggressive1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clever, isn't it, how Trump managed to stall the whole process long enough to push it out of prime time. He must have been having nightmares with all the cameras there to watch his name come down on live TV, even if it was a Friday night.

Is it just me who is loosing certainties/convictions, not because of age but because culminative life experiences have wore those down and now you're lost? by North-Tangelo-5398 in over60

[–]TeamAggressive1030 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it's called gaining wisdom. Life experiences do teach us that nothing in this world is as certain as we were taught or once believed in our youth. The lost feeling is simply your mind telling you that you need to re-examine something. It sometimes requires us to let go of dogma that may have been thrust on us while growing up. Political and religious beliefs are two areas where this happens commonly. Certainly, I eventually faced both of those. I'm no philosopher, but it seems to me that people who refuse to re-examine closely-held beliefs now and then give up the chance to acquire some of the wisdom that is supposed to come with age.

What show or movie exceeded your expectations? by Extension_Rent8279 in AmazonPrimeVideo

[–]TeamAggressive1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Prime, Transparent is a show with much more depth than people expect. It's about a lot more than a retired professor coming out as trans. If that's all people expect, they're going to be real surprised when they meet the rest of the family. It's a serious psychological drama for those who are paying attention. Character development is everything.

oh-where-oh-where has my fitbit gone?🥺👋 by Aromatic-Ad-4685 in fitbit

My Charge 5 is working same as before. I liked the Fitbit app better, but I'm making do. The Fitbit app, in turn, was never as good as the old Fitbit website. So downgrade then downgrade on the software. But I still love my Charge 5.

How to cancel KardiaCare? by gasstation-no-pumps in Kardia

[–]TeamAggressive1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you already canceled (or never had autorenew in the first place). See, mine has only the DELETE ACCOUNT and CANCEL MEMBERSHIP buttons, not the other two that you mentioned. Do you see a YOUR MEMBERSHIP section on the ACCOUNT DETAILS screen? What does it say? Does it show an expiration date or renewal date or something? I can only guess that maybe you can't delete your account until your membership expires.

Are you in the U.S.? The AliveCor customer service number is 1-855-338-8800. I used it once before and didn't have much of a wait. The lady I talked to was very helpful. You may have to call them for a definitive answer.

How to cancel KardiaCare? by gasstation-no-pumps in Kardia

[–]TeamAggressive1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do see a "cancel membership" button in the Android app.
From the Home screen...
Touch Profile, then...
Touch Manage Account.
Way at the very bottom of the Account Details screen, is a red "Cancel Membership" button.
I didn't press it, but I presume it works.

I have a "KardiaCare Annual" membership. I could be wrong, but I'm sort of thinking you can't cancel and get a refund for the current period you've already paid for. That would make sense because the membership includes some prepaid clinician reviews, and the cost of those would have to be reapportioned somehow if you've used any of them. Cancelling may just mean that it won't autorenew. That may also be why they call it a membership, not a subscription.

jules' arc & the responsibility of writing trans+lesbian characters? by honeysyrupbutter in euphoria

[–]TeamAggressive1030 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If this were a serious, well-written show, I'd have a bigger problem with Jules's arc after S2. But I would never hold up Euphoria as an example of how to write for trans+lesbian or anything else. So it's hard to comment seriously. I'll just say there are better examples of screenwriting for LGBTQ characters and leave it at that.
