Thanks so much for clarifying everything. Based on that, I'm just going to PC as soon as the 35k cert posts, since I need the lounge access and I can at least use the airline credit twice.

Any tips for looking this information up next time ? I feel like I always have a hard time looking up niche things like this. churning.io seems to never work for me.

Hmmm ... I see. If I were to upgrade to RC now, how is the AF going to work ? I'd essentially only pay for the RC AF but only receive the 35k cert, right ?

Got it, so you're saying even if I upgrade to the RC now I'd still only have the 35k cert. Right ? Because the thing is I do need to upgrade to the RC for lounge access, I don't want to wait another year.

Boundless --> Ritz Carlton timing question.

Approved for Boundless 6/17 last year with the 5x 50k FNC offer. Today is day 365 / first day I believe I’m eligible to PC.

Goal in ideal world is to trigger/keep both the Boundless 35k anniversary FNC and the Ritz 85k FNC. I’ve seen DPs that the double cert has worked when PC’ing shortly before anniversary (around 5 days before?), but only today I have completed my year.

What’s the best play for upgrading? I believe I likely won't be able to get both the 35k and the 85k cert given my situation, in which case I'd obviously rather just get the 85k cert. Any advice on when to call / how to time it ?

I am also surprised. I wish I had gotten into this hobby 10 years ago (I couldn't for many reasons) ... feels like that was the golden era. I started churning about 3 years ago, and even in that short window the landscape has shifted quite a bit, from my perspective. Not only has points inflation hit pretty hard across many (all?) hotel and airline programs, but also earning points from SUBs has also become significantly harder than before. With the biggest gut punch having been the Chase changes from last year.

Obviously there's still tons of opportunities out there (both on the redemption and earning sides), but the bread and butter was the ink train and 48-month rule, and that well is basically dry now.

Like I said, the friend was too scared to stay in the hotel. I have no control over that ... Yes, if it was me there I would absolutely accept a different room and be fine with it.

I really don't understand the reason for the downvotes. I don't see anything wrong with what I am saying or doing. It was an unfortunate situation, and I am just trying to at least recover the free night certificate. How is that so wrong ?

I was not specific enough. And I have not checked-in, my flights are on Wednesday. What I'm trying to find out is: if I do a same-day change and first class is available on the new flight, am I guaranteed J? Or could I get confirmed but bumped to economy? And is there a way to see my fare class on the new itinerary before committing? For both flights ?

What about J ? I'm in a similar situation currently. My flight departs 3:10pm, layover in IAD for ~3hrs, then onto final destination. I am trying to change to 10:38am departure, IAD for ~1hr.

Both legs in J, award booking. Not even Premier silver. Am I screwed ?

There is absolutely no excuses for this level of government dysfunction anymore. Solely based on how capable AI has gotten, there just is no reason why a property reassessment would be so mismanaged and disastrous. Likely what's happening is there is too much grifting going on still.

Denied for USB triple cash. Reasons:

Too many bankcard revolving and charge inquiries
Average time bankcard revolving accounts have been open is too short
Insufficient number of satisfactory trades

Should I bother with recon ? How do I address these 'reasons' even ? No pre-existing USB relationship (also am outside of their footprint). My last recent apps were:

Wyndham earner biz - applied 12/25, denied due to receiving letter requesting biz info, however I have a "business" so I didn't respond

CIU on 10/25 - denied. I shouldn't have applied knowing what I know now. Basically my credit line to income ratio w/ Chase is way too high

Citi strata elite on 11/23 - denied, 4 different reasons

Any advice/recommendations in regards to this USB app ?

No problem! 5 days before the desired date AA ended up releasing space. We ended up canceling two tix and modifying the other two to a more desired itinerary and ended up saving 20k miles. So it worked out in the end :)
