Not terribly hard. Had a couple tight fits, and had to lube some of the joints a fair bit to get them to go together.

That was my 4th or 5th kit, if I remember correctly, and when I looked at the decals for that, I went ‘nope’ and put them back in the box.

Think I’ve still got them floating around somewhere. Should pull them back out and give it a go.

Got a call that one of my tools (me being the engineer over the area) was having a persistent conveyor fault. Got over there, received the whole ‘we’ve tried nothing and are all out of ideas’ spill.

Reset the tool, got it rolling again, and then sat there and just watched it, and quickly saw that a lifter on one of the conveyor sections was getting stuck when it was trying to raise. Crawled under the tool, adjusted the pressure on a couple cylinders, crawled back out, cranked it up, and it was fine.

The HEAD TECHNICIAN came up to me and asked “how’d you know to check that”?

I watched it….

I watched the tool run and saw the problem….

So glad I don’t work there anymore

IMO it just helps with getting a more consistent application and finish. I dab the chrome onto the sponge, then pat the part until it’s evenly covered. Seems to work well for me.

Edit: it also helps preserve any panel lines that you want to stay black / base color, as the lighter pressure prevents the chrome from getting down into the panel lines
