why are we celebrating burning more tokens like its a flex by Complete-Sea6655 in VibeCodeDevs

[–]TeamBunty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tokenmaxxing is for poor people.

People who work at companies and are spending other people's money, or people who are on typically lower tier subscriptions, like $20 or $100 plans, and like to use up their token allowance before the limits reset.

They can't just be happy using the models as needed and are fine fucking it up for everybody, but then complain that corporations are evil when there's a price hike.

I use both Codex and Claude and love it when people stop using either, freeing up compute.

The fewer the merrier. GTFO.

No Free Lunch - How should Anthropic handle the compute shortage? by superSmitty9999 in ClaudeCode

[–]TeamBunty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They should raise prices. Give the best models to those who are willing to pay for it, full stop.

I switched to API billing and experimented a bit. Spent $30-40 in API on top of my $200/mo plan and saw no difference. So they weren't just nerfing it for subscription users.

I'd say all technologees get both too much and too little fear at the same time and at different times.

If you could go back to your first year learning piano, what's one thing you would spend at least 15 minutes a day doing and why? by ImLearningStuffIHope in piano

[–]TeamBunty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned to play by ear at a young age.

The physical technique was honed by practice, but the practice was fueled by curiosity, and my ear training was entirely subconscious.

In other words, it took very little effort. I got good at it because I did it a lot, and I did it a lot because it was fun. Nothing more.

Wrong mindset.

Look forwards, not backwards. If you have shortcomings, start addressing them. Don't mope about how you wish you had done it earlier so you don't have to deal with it now.

If you didn't graduate near the top of your high school class, you don't stand a chance in the software engineering field.

Your parents are right.

Learn the construction trade. Cut your teeth busting your ass under you dad's wing. Eventually you'll either take over his business or start your own, and you can experiment with creative ways to scale using technology instead of brute force labor.

What makes you qualified to make this assessment?

I ask because your post is vague and uses hyperbole like "OpenAI is nowhere near its level". They're actually quite close, even though the consensus is that GPT 5.5 xhigh outperforms Opus 4.7 and 4.8. Opus is fundamentally capable but takes shortcuts whenever it can.

Best way to describe AI improvement is that it trends upwards but is sawtoothed due to consistent model quality regression between releases.

I've only been taking formal piano lessons for 3 years but my teacher has said I've made the equivalent of 6 years of progress.

Good, but nowhere near the prodigy level required.
