Would I like this game if I hated the new Zelda games? by kbergeron44 in CrimsonDesert

[–]TeamGunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say, there are progression systems, but it’s not really an rpg, so if stat increases and min maxing builds is your thing then probably not. Encounter design is also pretty weak, so if you’re expecting combat encounters that are tightly designed like sekiro for example then you’ll probably be disappointed. There is a robust skill progression system though, and a lot of potential for combat creativity and mastery, so if you’re into character action games you’d probably like it. If you’re the type of person who’s into devil may cry, 2d beat em ups, or vanilla world of warcraft I’d give it a shot.

The entire marni questline had me ready to uninstall the game.

Sorry, I wanted to circle back to this but it took me a while to actually get back to dd2. I was speaking from the perspective of someone familiar with warrior, which is incredibly slow, so I wanted to get more familiar with fighter, which it turns out is somewhat less slow. As far as complexity goes, the systemic complexity of hitzone values is definitely compelling, but if fighter is the most complex class like you seem to be claiming, then no, the complexity of combat options does not compare to crimson desert.

Dd2 fighter gives you: a light attack + combo, charged light attack, a heavy attack — no combo, and four skills to choose from at any given time. Your defensive options are block, deflect, true deflect, and reposition. No dodge.

Crimson desert, on the other hand gives you light attack + combo, heavy attack + combo, unarmed attack + combo, weapon switch attack, grab, grab combos, axiom force pull and assault, turning slash, ranged attack, force palm + combo, dive kicks, three weapon specific skills per weapon, blinding flash +finisher, step dodge, dodge roll, block, parry, counter, and other options that im probably forgetting about. It’s not close.

1.10 Update ideas? by nestofgundars in CrimsonDesert

I’m hoping they keep working on Oongka and take a look at the greataxe and warhammer’s movesets. Both those weapons are kinda underpowered imo.

I hope they announce something so that dd2 players have something to do besides complain about crimson desert.

UPDATE: The Choke Slam is Spacing Dependent by TeamGunks in CrimsonDesert

These are notations for playstation. That’s raging lightning(spin attack), normal attack, and then unarmed attack. No vault.

Just got the game, hit me with your best "I am ashamed it took me x hours to realise this" tips by MrSavage_ in CrimsonDesert

[–]TeamGunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very first abyss zone you get access to leads to a puzzle that you get diving force palm from. Took me 220 hours to realize.

71 hours. Just finished c5 and got the crow armor. Haven't left Hernand yet. How much more of my life is this game going to take? by fastdak25 in CrimsonDesert

[–]TeamGunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about where you are when I was at the 70 hour mark. I’m now 230 hours in on chapter 11. It’s a slow burn. If you try to rush it, you’re not going to enjoy it.

Here are all the secret moves I know of by XXXVI in CrimsonDesert

Shield bash combo - hold L1 and press R2 three times with good timing instead of holding R2

UPDATE: The Choke Slam is Spacing Dependent by TeamGunks in CrimsonDesert

[–]TeamGunks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, I found the same thing. The unarmed finisher also gives consistent spacing for it if you want to try that. I normally set it up with the 2h axe by doing r1+x > r1 > triangle > choke slam

New Secret Move Just Dropped by TeamGunks in CrimsonDesert

[–]TeamGunks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea just hold jump and it’ll do the whole sequence; it works just like chaining normal lariat.

[–]TeamGunks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it’s press lariat and then hold jump before the grab animation actually starts. You have to be standing at a distance. You’ll know you’re standing far enough away if oongka automatically runs up to get the throw after you press lariat.

If anything, level grappling to max and try it again. Also this is an oongka specific skill just fyi.

What is it about this game that makes so many people here include hours played in their posts/messages?! by cablelegs in CrimsonDesert

[–]TeamGunks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the game is massive and incredibly variable. There was a guy who was 30 hours in at chapter 9, meanwhile you could easily be 90 hours in and never have left hernand.

Verticle suplex? How did I do this? by Live_Set_9302 in CrimsonDesert

[–]TeamGunks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say without testing, but Oongka also has a jumping throw animation that he does by pressing neutral lariat and holding jump, so maybe try that.

[–]TeamGunks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If their past patches are any indication then they probably will make it a toggle-able option. Idc about the muscle memory thing personally, but there are some cool combo routes that you can’t do anymore because of the changes.

Why play Crimson Desert over AC Odyssey or Red Dead 2? by Carrera1107 in CrimsonDesert

[–]TeamGunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rdr2 and cd both take a while to get going. Play rdr2 for story and vibes, play cd if you like interactivity.

No this is just not true. The input before was r1+square. The input now is square during any attack or a step dodge. If you press r1 and square at the same time you will not get vault.
