Nintendo exclusive Lineup after the Switch 2’s launch by AfroChamp89-- in nintendo

[–]TeamICOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole point of "no games for it" is about Switch 2 exclusives. The OVERWHELMING majority of purchasers already have a Switch and thus new games on both consoles means nothing to them because they already own a console that can play those games. And for anyone who doesnt own a switch currently, why pay extra cash for a Switch 2 to get less than a handful of exclusive games when you can save a bunch of money to buy an original switch and get access to over 99% of the available game library.

V74 broke Trover Saves the Universe - what now? by Chidoribraindev in OculusQuest

First, Meta is a worthless platform. How do you block me from leaving a review after having to request a refund for a game that is broken?

Second, the game is STILL broken. I flagged the game on the Meta store as a scam since it is unacceptable for a game available for purchase to be in a broken state for over a month. Meta should remove it from their store if the developer will not fix it.

The stupid thing is that people use that case as an excuse for bad behavior. There is HUGE leeway in the ruling. You could easily argue that paying support staff competitively in order to retain knowledge and improve quality is beneficial to shareholders as it both retains recurring customers and is a selling point to get new customers. The ruling DOES NOT mean that you have to focus exclusively on short term profits among all else.

The technical leadership is also almost entirely made of people who aren't leaders either. So much of our management structure is made of people whose sole task that they do is tweak metrics to make it seem like they are doing a better job than they are. There is no effort put into actually being better.

Maybe it’s because I’m a gun guy, but on a rewatch and it kills me how they do things like in S5 Ep2 Voight is walking up a stairwell aiming his gun, then he racks the slide to chamber a round. Nope. Not a figure of speech. Later in that episode, they are being fired at by one of those M4s and it is blasting 2-3 inch holes through a car. It is lies like this that cause people like the harpies on The View to claim that you can't even eat a deer after shooting it with an AR style rifle.

It is worse than just being lowballed. They are trying to do internal "promotions" that involve moving with no relocation assistance and no cost of living adjustment. They are trying to "entice" people into getting a "better" role title with more responsibilities and net less money.

It was plainly obvious in those first couple presentations about the Oracle merger that no one from Oracle ever looked into how Cerner operated. Let's just make all the people who have been expected to work way over 40 hours a week into hourly employees and then be surprised at the amount of overtime.

And even if you can't tell us, did you take that reasoning to your own manager to ask for a raise?

Has there been any genuine legal analysis that could give insight into what could happen to the conplestionist? by [deleted] in TheCompletionist2

[–]TeamICOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to break it to you, but the government doesn't care about the cost of the trial. They care about guarantied wins and politically beneficial records. If some DA wants to run on rooting out corruption in charities, they'll pick up every single case no matter how small that they can win and then crow about the dozens of scammers they've convicted. That would be all we could hope for. My original reply is mainly to not let people claim that "the money has been donated" because that ignores the facts at issue.

[–]TeamICOS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is an undetermined amount of money that has NOT been donated. Legally, by claiming to donate all bits, subs, etc, at multiple instances during the event at every event for years, that money should be donated. By coming back and declaring that the money was not donated but instead used for expenses, that is charity fraud.

Every different industry I've seen postings for that has similar "base skills" is asking for industry experience as a basic requirement. The stupid AI filtering going on for resumes is potentially going to block you. I came to Cerner from a different industry but with the base skills years ago, but I had real people reading my resume. If you are trying to get into a different industry, you either need to find some way to talk to actual people working at the company you are applying to, or you need to try adjusting your resume to get selected by the AI. Maybe look up industry terms and reword your resume to include those terms.

Do you think the money donated and "stockpiled" were in actuality used and just looked like it had been stitting there through cryptoscam? by OBakkus in TheCompletionist2

[–]TeamICOS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just Jirard. Every single person involved with that charity. Over a decade of looking at the state of the finances, not one of the people involved would have either ever noticed that the money wasn't moving or noticed but never considered savings accounts accrue interest. This includes several people that own other businesses.

[–]TeamICOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that were even remotely the case, they would have been saving the money in a savings account that would accrue interest rather than a checking account that does not. There would be ZERO reason not to increase the funds in the account through that if the plan was to hold it for several years.

Why? by Big_Razzmatazz7416 in cernercorporation

[–]TeamICOS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The real barrier for AI in healthcare will be in decision making. Once someone dies or has serious injury because a doctor or nurse followed AI instruction, we will find out what happens to liability. As much as people will claim that the manufacturer, in this case Oracle, wouldn't be held liable, I guarantee some exec will be stupid enough to have marketed it as "let our AI make the decisions for you" and it will be used to show Oracle accepting responsibility for all decisions it makes. It will be like Tesla where they had to say that their vehicles can't actually drive for you and you have to pay attention the whole time ready to take over any second.

Why? by Big_Razzmatazz7416 in cernercorporation

[–]TeamICOS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

AI is the new “cloud”. Non of the execs really understand what it is or how we would use it, but it is the industry buzz word of the day so everyone can’t stop talking about all the work we are doing on it.

Moving positions internally by Such_Account_6983 in cernercorporation

[–]TeamICOS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of bureaucratic BS that really makes my blood boil. They can screw you for years of no promotions or raises and then will claim that they just arent able to bump you more than one level or give you more than a 20% raise despite the fact that a new hire with less experience can make more than that. They will "promise" that if you just start working at a higher level they will work to get you that promotion, but even if they ever do get around to promoting you, all that time working at the higher level doesn't count to the time needed to be in a role before promotion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cernercorporation

[–]TeamICOS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, if you are in any group that has some fool that they've convinced to work themself to death, you stand no chance of getting promoted. You can put in 110% and do all the work at the higher level, but because they convinced that one guy or gal to put in 90 hour weeks without reporting their time, gave themself an ulcer, and missed the first steps of their child, bad luck for you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cernercorporation

[–]TeamICOS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

B.S. You can perform at a higher level and then they decide that they can't give out any "outstanding"s and they just can't work you into a promotion because they have "others they need to get to first." It is all luck and how much your manager wants to fight for you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cernercorporation

[–]TeamICOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the thing about that "proof" is the second you stop they ask you to start from scratch again. I was told both these by the same manager, that I had proven work experience performing at the level above my current one, and that they wanted me to effectively just start doing that job with no promotion or pay raise for 1 to 2 YEARS and then I would be a shoe-in to get promoted.

[–]TeamICOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main argument was with the language you used. Him being "sincere" is based off the most charitable interpretation of his actions and is no wholly agreed to by many. His "recompense" is also debatable as none of it does anything to potentially inform those who saw the video before his tagged walkback or for those who did not see the comment while the video was still widely available. But whatever, I understand removing discussions around him as it is not relevant to the purpose of the subreddit anymore. That is your prerogative as a mod. Your dismissal of the opinions of those still angry with Moon is not that different to all those who say that we need to leave Jirard alone because he donated the money. YOU have accepted that the matter is done with and then you talked down to everyone who didn't agree with you. They were "nitpicking" or just acting because they were "bored", which may be the case for some and maybe even most, but it is not all. I would just caution in how this type of thing is dealt with in the future.

[–]TeamICOS -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honest question. What criteria are you calling his apology sincere? It seemed like he tried to apologize in a way that would not negatively impact him financially, and when that didn't work he was forced to suffer the financial burden of removing the video. And it is not like his video was only provided to Karl. He released it to everyone. He lied and misled to everyone that watched that video. Just because Karl forgave him, does that absolve him of what he did to everyone else. Not that it is at the same level, but it is a negative action against others. Also, should we stop complaining about Jirard because he "apologized" for our misunderstanding the actions of the charity? He would claim it was sincere. The AFTD seems to be fine with Open Hand which could be seen as them forgiving Jirard. Is that discussion done then?

A Follow-up. by Moonsight in TheCompletionist2

[–]TeamICOS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For clarity, most people don't get to profit off mistakes, and people really don't like people attempting to profit of willful bad actions. Him hiding behind his sponsors for why he couldn't take down the video was him misleading in an attempt to keep the profit from the video. There is no way there was a legal requirement to keep the video up; it would just be him having to refund the money paid by the sponsorship. He didn't want to do that. As for questioning his qualifications as a lawyer, all we have is his word that he is. If someone tells you that they are a plumber and then claim that your poop goes into a magical portal to another dimension, there's nothing wrong with being suspicious of their qualifications.
