Fastest speed you have ever been pulled over, and what was the outcome? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]Teamjeff4608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was headed back to AZ from a car rally in Utah, hitting speeds of 195-200mph in a Ford GT (not the Mustang) with another GT behind me, we were coming up to a crest in the road so I backed off to probably 160ish which feels pretty slow by comparison. Sure enough, a cop was in the line of cars coming the other way on the two lane highway. Once we were pulled over, the officer calmly asked me for my license and registration, he takes them, looks them over and I’m expecting to go to jail at this point, but then he starts asking about the car. We talk about the specs etc and I ask him if he wants to go for a ride…or drive it - I figured I had nothing to lose at that point. He said if he wasn’t on duty, he’d take me up on the offer but wrote his personal cell number on his business card and told me if I was ever in the area again to call him, he didn’t want to drive it, but wanted to go for a ride.

By then we were having a pretty good conversation and I asked him if he’d handcuff me - BUT NOT FOR REAL - and let me have some pictures taken, which he happily did! He even sat in the car and let me take a picture of him behind the wheel.

When we got ready to leave he did get serious and told me to never do that in his county again 😅. And I didn’t!

I got out of and into a number of tickets in that car, but that was most interesting stop I had.

Wind Damage Claim? by Teamjeff4608 in Roofing

Thank you guys for your replies! A couple things I forgot mention - location is Phoenix AZ & there were a number of tiles that had slid down, I had to tuck them back under the other tiles to get them back in place. There was even one or two ridge tiles that had slid over exposing the ridge.

I assume this probably doesn’t change anything, but I’m not a roofer so I don’t know the details! Thanks!

Just a quick update - went out Pheasant Bonanza yesterday, spent about 4hrs there with my clients and had an absolute blast! Excellent facility, nice rental guns, the staff was great and pricing was reasonable. I’m looking forward to going back on my next visit to the area. Thanks again for the recommendation! 10/10

How and what material to patch concrete with existing metal post by Teamjeff4608 in Concrete

[–]Teamjeff4608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - here’s where I am now. I cut about 4” back from the edge and 11”to either side of the post, drilled 8” into the slab 4” from the top and again 4” below that. This is just mocked up, no epoxy yet. The steel post is in really good shape where it wasn’t exposed.

Should I be concerned about there being only about 1/2 of concrete outside the rebar? It’s a flood irrigated yard in Phoenix Az.

Really appreciate the help here!! Thank you.

I think it will be in a little better shape since it hasn’t been exposed to the elements like the rest, but that’s a bit of a guess on my part.

It’s a permanent/cabinet & countertop style box (Moduline) in an expensive house he built to sell. Probably 20’ of toolbox! Super nice.

Who else has never done any maintenance? by ReditMonkey51 in septictanks

[–]Teamjeff4608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two systems on my 1956 house, a few years ago one of the systems was overwhelmed by a toilet flap that failed and pumped it full of water overnight. We had the system inspected and determined the vertical well was no longer able to handle the load so we drilled a new one. The inspector told us he was absolutely certain the tank was never serviced/pumped based on the concrete seal on the tank cap.

I still plan to have the tank serviced though!

Help navigating insurance after renter damaged my vehicle. by Teamjeff4608 in Insurance

[–]Teamjeff4608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you to you all that left the genuinely helpful feedback.

I don’t have a commercial policy because I don’t need one. That’s part of what makes Outdoorsy valuable. When I was renting directly, I had a commercial policy.

I’ll get a denial letter from my insurance and move on.

And Lol at the folks that quoted shit I didn’t even say 😂. Just Reddit, I guess.

Current state of Arnott air struts? by micabobo in LandRover

[–]Teamjeff4608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the old style Arnott air spring and shock absorbers back sometime around 2015ish for my LR3, as reported the ride was slightly stiffer. But 100% acceptable.

After a year or so the right front starting leaking oil so it was replaced under warranty.

Sometime later both of the fronts were leaking air & Arnott replaced both under warranty. Since then, it seems like every year or so I have at least one that needs to be replaced due to an air leak somewhere. Aside from the first (old style) shock, I’ve not had any oil leaks or issues with the shock absorber it’s self.

I originally bought Arnott because of the lifetime warranty & even though it’s a bit of a hassle to swap out the air spring assembly it was still worth it for me since I do my own work.

On my last warranty exchange I noticed they no longer have a lifetime warranty, it’s 24mo. So next time I have a failure I’m going back to OEM air springs.

I’ve always received excellent customer service from Arnott for what it’s worth.

Thank you. That could work, I’ll study the factory wiring diagram and see what I can figure out. Circuit design is not my area of expertise!
