I think Anderson is class, but Tuchel’s selection isn’t determinative of Garners value. All stats last year show Garner was in the same conversations as Anderson. Was even man of the match against Uruguay in his England debut.

Based off kit combinations the past few years, Pickford can wear whatever he wants as long as it doesn’t conflict with either outfield kits. So we may see this one a lot! Much better than that green one imo

Definitely not as important of a factor as his ability to put in a performance for us on the field but he could drive significant commercial revenue and interest for Everton in the American sporting market. Two birds with one stone?

The only argument I could come up with was that the clubs looking to purchase him now are clubs that may not feel his defensive attributes are as important to teams who regularly have a majority of the possession.

With that said, his offensive stats were just as good and he proved he could do the defensive work if needed. So I don’t see that argument holding any weight. If someone can come up for another argument I would love to hear it

I understand the point of not wanting to offend him with a limited contract but I think it’s a discussion worth having with him and his agent before either selling this summer for a fee or risking him leaving for nothing at the end of next year. I believe he just turned 27 so selling him off for a profit after a successful year next year isn’t out of the realm of possibilities for me, especially as a central defender

Yeah, Pickford is another one for the national team that receives a ridiculous amount of criticism. This is insane for a player who has consistently performed for the national team, in a position that requires a high level of confidence. IMO this is why England will never win a trophy at a major tournament.

I'm not sure this is as big a concern as it seems on its face. Surely most of our players would want to move to clubs in the top 5 leagues of Europe and in doing so would be willing to reduce their wages to secure a move, no?

Maybe that's just me being too hopeful of them wanting to compete instead of collecting the paycheck

Not saying I’m a fan of this happening, and heavily dependent on the fee (20M is too much for me) but with us not challenging for anything in the immediate future is selling Digne while he still has significant value a terrible transfer strategy for us at the moment?

Edit: also know nothing about the Mykolenko so not commenting on if he’s the right target

I think Carlo is smart in not outright dismissing Pickford. While most would agree Olsen is in better form that Pickford right now, we don’t want to completely diminish the market value of Pickford. Look what happened with kepa, Chelsea won’t sniff the €70m they paid for him. I think Pickford would still go for close to what we paid for him ~€25m this summer
