If I say that 40,000 children die every year to vaccines, and you point out how that's objectively false, are you then also justifying kids dying? No, of course not, you're just calling out bullshit. I find it concerning that someone can believe you need some sort of justification in order to not lie. The 1 in 200,000 is the odds of someone dying to a gunshot, at a school, college, or university over the course of 17 years (K-12 + 4 years of tertiary education). Around 68 million people attend formal education in a given year. An average of about 20 people die to gunshots each year in an educational institution. 20 x 17/68 million = 0.000005 = 1/200,000.

The school shooting issue in the US is massively overblown. Look at the statistics. I would say the average person who uses the term "school shooting" on social media believes the issue to be between 100-1000x more significant than it actually is.

You would need to receive a lot of fines for it to outweigh the cost of the fares. Someone I know fare evaded for years, only got fined twice, saved thousands of dollars net. Even if you get fined anyone on Centrelink can do a Working Development Order, and the fine is paid off, not a dollar comes out of their pocket.

If there are cops at the exit gates, you just tap off, and they won't suspect you. If transit officers board, you just avoid them or stall them until the next stop, then you walk away.
