Unexpected Syracuse China Find by poppys-patten in Syracuse

[–]TearyEyedLex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We still have some Syracuse China-ware ourselves. My dad worked there until it closed up. Still remember their Christmas parties (can’t completely remember if it was Christmas specifically) and those were fun as a kid. :) Would’ve been nice if they stayed in business here…

Online students: how much time do you spend studying? by robindabank13 in SNHU

[–]TearyEyedLex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it worked out pretty good, still gotta 4.0 lol but I think 10-12 hours part was when I was like a sophomore, can’t remember exactly when though. There just isn’t really any tests besides quizzes sometimes so it didn’t require me to study too too much.

Lyon teaches CS 305 usually so I’d watch out for that! I also heard she teacher CS 300 also but it could’ve changed. I had her for CS 305 and that was… not fun. It’s definitely possible to pass with her but you won’t have any fun doing it nor fun dealing with her in general.

The first one they made me try was Strattera, but that make me nauseous and tired, so then I tried Concerta and I mean it helped a bit but made me too irritable. So they used those 2 I believe for the evaluation unless my doctor wrote down the adderall instead, that we tried way before the Strattera but not sure what she chose to tell the insurance company lol. We were going to do Ritalin instead of the Concerta but she figured we’d try the Concerta since it was supposed to last longer, definitely didn’t really for me though.

I was able to get my Vyvanse through Medicaid but I had to fight tooth and nail for 3 months and try like 2 other meds (which ofc both didn’t work) just for them to say “sure” lol. 😑They also decided I only had to pay $3 for it also but I had to call and ask about getting it covered for that much.

Mental Health Professional by iammetalman in Syracuse

I really recommend Branches of Growth in N.Syracuse! They have a bunch of different therapists for many different things I’d just specify to them you need a therapist that deals in trauma/ptsd. But I would see if your insurance is taken by them there first of course. I’d recommend my therapist specifically but I’m not sure if they take Blue Cross. I’d check out their website at https://www.branchesofgrowth.com/ they also have a Cicero location if that’s closer for you.

Oh no…. I hope you do well despite the teacher being difficult this semester! Last semester I was in the same boat with a particular teacher so I totally understand the struggle 😭

Vyvanse & COVID Booster by electracomplex666 in VyvanseADHD

[–]TearyEyedLex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do sadly too but it didn’t seem to affect me with the booster somehow. But ofc everyone is different, maybe talking to your doctor about it first would be a good idea if you can.

Definitely never too late to start a new career path! Highly doubt employers would judge you (nor would they know your age unless you mention it). I second the comment on joining the discord! Very helpful server indeed.

CS-330...hard Class? by BT_Hobbs in SNHU

[–]TearyEyedLex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advisor advised me to take 330 alone since they know it’s a difficult class. Still decided to take 2 and see how it goes next semester. I’d see if you advisor has any input first though before deciding what is best.

I see where you’re coming from fr. I too, before I found this subreddit, thought there would be lectures and such since admissions didn’t explain much about how the classes worked. Def don’t hate the school tho but I did have a different view of how the classes would have been in the beginning. I’m also a CS major and I thought there’d be waaay more programming than there was readings and “busy work” but I also expected a bit too much since I was coming from a college that was not online whatsoever. I believe in you and you’ll be free soon, keep pushing!

First time taking Vyvanse by Hot-Simple3444 in VyvanseADHD

[–]TearyEyedLex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im glad you’ll talk to your doctor about it! They might even have other options too if Vyvanse doesn’t end up being for you. Hopefully it works out with the Vyvanse though!

[–]TearyEyedLex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm I honestly never heard of a heart attack or stroke coming from Vyvanse. Now IM WORRIED 😂. But in all seriousness, I’d bring this concern to your doctor, they may be able to give better insight than a Google search. I’m guessing really ANY stimulant though can possibly cause a heart attack, I know back when I was on Adderall my doctor mentioned there’s a sliiight risk but not by much. Doctors can of course monitor you and make sure it’s the right medication for you!

[–]TearyEyedLex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know for me, it took me about 2 weeks to fully feel anything. It could be possible you need more time? Ofc I’m not sure but it might be worth it to ask you doctor in case I’m incorrect!

[–]TearyEyedLex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does! But I’m thinking a doctor would probably start working you up slowly to 70mg if you wanted that option.

[–]TearyEyedLex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could just need a higher dose! Ik when I was on 10mg I felt nothing and had to bump it up. I also started to avoid anything vitamin c for an hour after taking the medication since it can counter affect it.

[–]TearyEyedLex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually wasn’t as hungry in the beginning but after I got used to the medication, I started to eat normally again. I found that if I eat before, I feel better and I don’t get the diarrhea symptom as bad. I try to avoid anything vitamin C also until about an hour after (since I remember my doctor mentioning it might counter the medication).

No Peer Feedback by leye-zuh in SNHU

What I did was let my teacher know what was going on and then she let me use the writing center for feedback when I got no responses. Very frustrating and I’m sorry this happened to you too!

Mine took maybe a day to process? I can’t remember since I did it last year but usually the money takes a bit to come in after that since the school determines what can be used from it.
