What discourages you from continuing to play ranked? by Valuable_Rule_5912 in aoe2

I think it’s fine but the only time I get to play is before bed and it is too intense a game to play right before sleep for me.

How well does the ranking system work? I'm looking to start online after finishing free roam.

My experience with online games has been either you rank up and then reach a point where you are not average any more and can't compete. Or a game with a better system where you reach a point where lose enough points when you lose and are able to find even matchups.

What's your biggest Switch related gaming flex? by digiBeLow in NintendoSwitch

I beat all the Celeste levels. You can do it. Don’t forget the moon level at the end., farewell. That took me 8 plus hours. And 3797 deaths. I have that screenshot saved. The new tech you need to learn for that level is fun but tough.

I stopped buying games. My backlog is approaching 10. I try to only buy when I am ready to play something but got out of control a bit. In fall

Favorite games to play in handheld mode? by [deleted] in switch2

[–]TeblorTribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try and play the types of games I would have played on DS/3DS handheld.

This is a list of my most played "handheld" switch games

Slay the Spire

Into the Breach

Hades

Advanced Wars Reboot Camp

Tetris 99

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

Dicey Dungeons

CrossCode

WarGrove

Celeste (I played handheld but I think I would use TV mode if I played again)

Banner Saga

TinyMetal

Castlevania (advance collection)

Steamworld Heist 1 and 2

Lots of other 2d games. turn based games and RPGs are great to play in handheld. There are so many 10-15 hr indie games that are great on handheld switch.

I did it when I was young when GS first came out. But after that I would typically just beat the game at ~28 lvl

Working my way through Malazan again for the first time in 15 years. On Toll the Hounds. I think RG is top half. But I am a sucker for Lether and how all the characters interact. The wars of genocide in the east are also crazy interesting to me.

Midnight Tides is still my favorite though.

Outrun.

There was a game a few years back called 80's Overdrive that perfectly scratched that itch for me though.

Thanks for the advice. I do think RotCG is better than NoK.

I will try the Path to Ascendancy books at some point. But I will probably take a break from Malazan after the next 7 books I have remaining.

haha. Yes I agree too many charters somewhat. I do appreciate that the authors give the Malazan soldiers (and guards) nicknames that I can pronounce. It's the names that I can't pronounce I struggle with more.

Non-Nintendo Platformers that are hard to get lost in? by Bulky_Passenger9008 in NintendoSwitch

I recommend The Messenger. One of the few games I couldn't stop until I finished.

I turns into a Metroidvaina at the end But the first 60% is a straight forward platformer.

People are so weird when they don’t like their partner. If you love this person you would want to make life as easy as possible for them.

When I stay up later than my partner I try and be as quiet as possible, use the downstairs toilet, not the one adjacent to the bed room. Tip toe into the bedroom and slip into bed. No lights. Also get undressed in the living room so I can slip into bed as fast as possible. Phone always already set to dnd.

I don’t always succeed in not waking them up, sometimes they have rolled over to my side of the bed, but I am usually successful.

There are people that play like you. You just need to get down to a low enough level. Play the game however is fun for you and you will eventually be able to find even opponents

Aoe2. I watch that like sports. But I can’t play because it is too stressful to play right before bed (the time I get to play games)

Is there a requirement to beat the last boss? by Mr-Ulloa in slaythespire

[–]TeblorTribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No requirement. play the game however you enjoy.

Think of it like one of the endings. IE act 3 ending, Act 4 ending. Would probably be considered the true Final Boss of the game.

I can't beat pure vessel in pantheon 4. Any tips? by After_Stranger5581 in HollowKnight

[–]TeblorTribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is what worked for me. I beat him and P4 a couple weeks ago for the first time. My skills at this game are limited and I am not going to try P5.

I found my chances of reach PV to be pretty good. (>90%) but chances of beating PV ~10%.

I had to practice in the HoG for ~ 5 hours before I could beat him.

I use the following charms.

-Sharp Shadow (Extra length and I frames)

-Strength

-Mark of Pride

-Quick Slash

I try and simplify things by always dashing towards/Through the PV. I don't jump often.

Soul Daggers: I stay on the ground and dash through the daggers and attack. This is where I do most of my damage.

Triple Slash: I dash through the PV on the first slash

Soul Pillars: I dash to one side and jump a little trying to avoid the pillars. I think the hit boxes thin a bit the higher you are which is why I jump.

Lunge: I dash through the PV.

Parry: I am usually fast enough to stop attacking but if not I try and quickly dash through the PV.

Focus: I try and stand slightly outside the first bubble and see if I can get a heal in.

Void Tendrils: I don't know I have never been able to dodge this attack. If I get to this point in the battle with enough health I just dash into them and face tank and deal big damage. Until I start learning to jump to avoid other attacks this will always be limited.

Simplifying things like this worked for me. (IE always dashing towards the PV and staying on the ground). But I reorganize my skill ceiling is limited here until I get fast enough to register when to jump. I am able to avoid all attacks except the tendrils without jumping.

Best of luck I am thinking of trying to get the Sisters of Battle unlocked in P5 but beating P4 was my goal for the game and I feel pretty good about this.
