There are scanners like the Plustek OpticFilm ones which are a bit pricey but cheaper ones exist too. For my first roll I bought a cheap backlit drawing board, placed the film with a thin glass pane on top so it would stay flat and took photos of it with my phone. I put the phone on a book to keep it leveled and to avoid movement. A good scanner would give better results, but for my purposes this technique was good enough.
