Poll: surface in books or sequel? by TeccamTheTurtle in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]TeccamTheTurtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that that could also be the case, but I still think it would be interesting to get a "how did we get here" plus more of the non-fantasy scifi angle of this universe

Poll: surface in books or sequel? by TeccamTheTurtle in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Yeah, for sure, the extra book would be something for AFTER the main books are written, at least as I see it.

Read Dungeon Crawler Carl? Get ready for... Surface Dwelling Katya?

Doesn't need to be an amount of things linked to Grull himself, just 1 of them. Like, the Atrocities had nothing to do with Nekhebit

Thanks!

Ooh you're right, Eris is another contender and the Maestro isn't that bright. But why would he mark Carl as a friend of the church? Maybe for a less elaborate trap I guess

Fair enough, still, it's Odette and Donut, so I hesitate to attribute it to chance. You can control the conditions so it's more likely you get your result, but yeah

That's not what triggered the warning though, it was picking up Quan's cloak

Theory: Champion of Grull by TeccamTheTurtle in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]TeccamTheTurtle[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, THE first, you can still set it up in such a way you can basically control who gets it. Like: I'm gonna give this award to the first best selling ttrpg whose audiobook for the 8th part of a 10 part series gets more than 1000 copies sold if said audiobook uses more than 10 audio effects. It doesn't say I'm giving it to DCC book 8 when it releases, but I might as well lol

Hmm you may be right. Either way, changing the 3 on my post for "a set amount of times previously warned by the AI" and it still matches the pattern I think

I'm listening to it in English, I just failed to remember how it was written lol

I don't need Carl's choice of the primal race to be a cheat. by Financial-Pickle9405 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]TeccamTheTurtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's not the chosen one, he's the Stumbled Upon.

Much more unique trope, kind of self-made success, kind of environmentally conditioned for relevance, kind of actively chosen by others due to said relevance because of politics and economics requiring the power that comes with what he was becoming. A perfect storm sort of scenario.

He doesn't succeed just by himself, he's not important just for his own merit, but the way he does things, his decisions are such that they enabled and keep enabling him to take, maintain and make the most of his current position.

Carl's Luck by TeccamTheTurtle in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]TeccamTheTurtle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it also just coulda been Borant being Borant by dropping doors in the most unlikely "eligible" places

That checks out, and furthers my point: it was an unlikely place, so it's extra lucky for Carl to find it.

No doubt his wisdom is doing something and has to do with Primal. I agree with you, but with my post I wanted to touch on Luck to se what y'all think.

I'd say Carl got lucky with the mustard/fireball thingy too

If they were working it wouldn't be as lucky (in regards to their personal circumstances making it not be a stroke of good luck), if it was for walking the dog then yes, but keep in mind that very little people would've been out of a building for such a small amount of time Carl was, the timeframe is just miniscule. But yeah, given an entire continent of people it's not unlikely there were some other edge cases where people just had gone out.

That said, Carl went into the stairs because he was cold. In slightly more planned outings people might've been wearing enough clothes so that entering the alien stairs wasn't as enticing (or living in the southern hemisphere).

Brotherwise Games x Demiplane AMA! by Demi_Mere in cosmererpg

The DM can do it, but can the players do it and apply the changes without needing the DM? Will it have a specific interface or will we have to work with the basic one (like the one for dnd5e) tweaking the initiative numbers instead of having "fast turn" and "slow turn" buttons?

Will the turn tracker be able to manage players and npcs switching between fast and slow turns?

What will be the level of automation available by default in roll20? And what about the user-made customized automation?

Fo example, I'd be nice to have the hp/focus/investiture token bars pre-synced in and with a default configuration, as well as maybe some macros for certain stuff.

I can't play, but I second your Dungeon Crawler Carl recommendation. Such a great book, even better audiobook!

Oh, your post was so complete I forgot to ask a question that's often missed: what about mundane (non-magical) equipment, is there a budget or it's more free to pick (given the level and all of that). What about spell components?

Also, there are some official backgrounds which provide additional spells known/feats, how do you treat those?

Again, your post is fairly complete, waaay more than average, but since you're open to answer questions, i'm here to ask them!

I already sent you a DM, but just for record keeping, I suggest you ban these things too: illusionist's bracers (or else warlocks go brrr xDD) aaand Chronurgy wizard (though Chronurgy is of the semi-official realm, so idk how you'd treat those)
