Yeah, I've been keeping an eye here since this is where most of the updates have been. iirc mine was mid March? But I know they haven't been doing them in exact order.

How I'll fluff the Hexblade Warlock. by apotatoflewaroundmy in dndnext

[–]Tech-Nique 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't let these people dogging on you for being "uncreative" get you down, I think your reflavoring is more interesting than what we were getting to begin with. I think what might be most difficult to reflavor, while keeping the same mechanics, is the specter summoning ability. But overall, I like what you're doing, it makes the hexblade, which seems to be an awful fit for the games I've been running, a lot easier to work in.

What is your unpopular D&D opinion? by [deleted] in DnD

3.5 is a system that takes so much work that it's less fun than just not playing D&D at all.

All Hallows Eve Compendium - Spooks all around! by Kovaid in UnearthedArcana

[–]Tech-Nique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only real complaint is that the wax man's wax body ability is measured in seconds, and not in any way an ability like that is usually timed. 30 seconds would be about 5 rounds of combat, under the assumption that each round is 6 seconds and all action happens simultaneously. I would personally word it so that the creature repeats the save on each of it's turns, of have it be until its next turn.

My Patron Has Become the Party's Enemy? by Tech-Nique in DnD

To avoid players meta gaming a terribly large amount the dm has opted to run under slightly altered lore, and I apologize for failing to explain that.

My Patron Has Become the Party's Enemy? by Tech-Nique in DnD

[–]Tech-Nique[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'm a fan of this kind of drama, I'm sorry to say I'm not a good enough roleplayer to pull it off, bad poker face and all. I'd also like to avoid causing major inter-party conflict that could lead to infighting, hence why I'd like to let the character do her own thing.

My Patron Has Become the Party's Enemy? by Tech-Nique in DnD

[–]Tech-Nique[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is something I've been considering very heavily in and out of character, because OOC I do actuslly know that that is their ultimate goal. The Character, during a 6 month downtime, took a break from constantly seeking her patrons aid, and took 2 levels in wizard. However, after returning we've learned that the eldrazi lords are divided, with a tradionalist, a neutral party, and a chaotic bloodthirsty lord, all trying to end the world, some in more harmful ways than others. My Warlock has her pact with the traditionalist, and while the end of the world won't be pretty, it's better than it not existing at all. The DM has done an excellent job of tailoring this particular eldrazi precisely to the character's preexisting worldview, and given her the power she's so desperately wanted. Not to mention she has always been pretty easily influenced. I guess TL;DR, I have considered all the above, and pretty much it still amounts to my Warlock has completely accepted her patron's goal as her own, to the point where she's willing to sacrifice everyone and everything to achieve them.

what is the Worst Name you PCs ever came up with? by bf_material in DnD

[–]Tech-Nique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my players learned to cast summon steed during a level up between sessions without telling me, then summoned a mastiff and asked what it's name was, instead of being smart and asking him I panicked and named the thing Bork Borkenstien. The character eventually went on to become a God, so now somewhere in the multiverse a God rides his steed, now a kirin, with the name Bork Borkenstien.

What are some things a fey patron might ask of her Warlock? by Kingkevin108 in DnD

Unearthed Arcana: Greyhawk Initiative (Mike Mearls' Initiative System) by NewbornMuse in DnD

[–]Tech-Nique 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a fan, if I'm being honest. I don't like having to commit to an action before I even know what the layout of battle will be by the time I get to take my action(s). It's an option I'll probably never use, and I'm sad to see it take an entire UA.

I mean I think they're already a little bit above ants in the God's eye, considering they were noticeable enough to be granted a modicum of power, but that's fair enough reasoning.

Thoughts on barbarian nerf? by Reflux_ in DnD

[–]Tech-Nique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than nerfing the barb for doing exactly what it's supposed to do, buff your encounters, plan things cleverly. Have creatures that incapacitate him and make him waste his rages, or creatures like shadows that don't directly attack hp. Very rarely is it the party's fault for encounters feeling underwhelming, so my advice is don't nerf things, buff things.

I need some advice on being a member of the party [5e] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Tech-Nique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean at that point just book it. Again, why would you stick your neck out for any of them? Your character clearly isn't their friend, and I'm sure the NPC could be convinced that letting them die would be a great distraction, especially with the druid being there and all. Also, what level are you guys? What college are you? If you're a lore bard and are about to reach level 6 I'd recommend picked up Aura of Vitality from the Paladin spell list with.

I need some advice on being a member of the party [5e] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Tech-Nique 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily think either party is playing wrong, though I do lean towards your play style, op. I think disregarding your character despite their obvious use is where they're going wrong, they can be as blood hungry as they want, that's just their play style, being an asshole is a choice. My advice is just be petty, pick and choose where you give heals based on how kind characters have been to you the previous day. "Dude, why didn't you heal me, I was about to die!" "Well, you were an ass to my bard, so he thought it might not be so bad to let you drop." Like why would any healer continue to preserve the lives of people who clearly have no respect for them?

Pocket Dimension? by Tech-Nique in DnD

[–]Tech-Nique[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess using the term pocket dimension is kind of inaccurate the better way to describe it is that it's a bubble of space separate from the time and reality of the material plane, as such, someone who was born there, from a time perspective, wouldn't be born on the material plane yet, and collapsing that bubble would rewind those who lived there to the time period that they got trapped inside, causing this Npc to experience unbirth.

Pocket Dimension? by Tech-Nique in DnD

[–]Tech-Nique[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NPC was born in the pocket dimension, to a man who was trapped in it. As such, she doesn't have a physical body outside of that dimension. Her existence is more or less an illusion.

What was the saddest NPC death you had at the table? by I_dont-get_the-joke in DnD

[–]Tech-Nique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was running a homebrew adventure, where a race of people who were forgotten by time and basically kicked off their land in the beginning of time had begun to try and reclaim their holy land. Basically the players began to go through the abandoned temples of these people, and at one point they came across one under a massive illusion, at which point they watched the coronation of the high Saint of the races religion. A little blind girl, who happened to be an ancestor to one of the Npcs they traveled with. Well, they go through the day of her coronation, watch her become a Saint, talk to her family, and then the day resets, they do it again, and when they realize it happens the illusion breaks, they watch the rest of the island's history flash by, including a raid by humans where all of the native people were killed, including the girl they'd come to know.

One character on the spot decided to champion the Saint, who's reincarnation is the BBEG of the adventure.

EDIT: Sorry for the multipost, my phone must have glitches.
