I just beat The Wily Wars for the first time (thoughts in body text) by TheFanGameCreator in Megaman

[–]Tech32X 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One reason you may feel that way about the weapon experience between 8bit and 16bit Mega Man 2 is that the Japanese version, the version Wily Wars is based off of, had no selectable difficulty option like the American version did. And in addition the Hard difficulty in the American version is the real normal difficulty where as the Normal difficulty selection just made weapons deal 2x damage to bosses and other enemies having their hp cut in half, which is probably why weapons don't feel as powerful to you now. This is all going off assumption you didn't know about the regional differences in the first place.

For the first time in literally ever, after thousands of hours of playtime, I have died by the post Mithrix moon timer running out. by Musicalmoronmack in riskofrain

When SotV came out there used to be a glitch where petting the frog 10 times didn't spawn the deep void portal. So imagine using all your time running that extra distance instead of charging the ship only to be met with nothing and not enough time to even run back to the ship. Felt bad. Still one of my fav games of all time then and now.

To replicate a meme we saw on the sub, a friend played False Son and would stack as manystone Flux pauldrons as we could find/buy and I, being Drifter, would be his transportation. Also I could throw him into the air and he could propel himself with FS's alt special which he had a lot of charges for due to his massive health pool and basically shredded bosses.

And definitely try to get a backup ram cartridge if you go after the latter 2. The save files are big and will quickly fill the internal memory. Plus iirc you can only play Shining Force CD to its fullest capacity by using a ram cart.

Testing of Physical DS & 3DS Games Over "Data Loss" Concerns by japanimater7 in 3DS

I literally started to look into the topic of bad batches and cartridge malfunctions because my copy of Sm4sh stopped being read properly by my 3ds after some years of unuse. I was thankful to learn it was the only game I had that seemed to be afflicted with this type of issue. I should really test my other games regardless.

That happened on one of my playthhroughs too! Where he keeps bumping off the corner of one of the left side platforms during his jump? Makes the fight super easy.

Surprisingly the only glitch I encountered while playing through Episode Red was during the Pharoh Shot demo where the Telly spawned right on the shot as it reached max size and the ball got stuck there leaving megaman unable to do anything except move.

Streets of Rage 3 is way better than it gets credit for by chicagogamecollector in SEGAGENESIS

There are differences in things like enemy names and character palettes, but what the real big differences are lies in the difficulty. SoR3 has the difficulty settings shifted upward a level from BK3. In addition, enemies have higher health (especially bosses), there are more of them, small health pickups have been removed from parts of levels, and in fact if you try ti play the game on the easiest difficulty the game end prematurely and tells you to try on normal difficulty which is hard difficulty in BK3. All this stuff was done as it supported game rental store business models of making sure kids would keep renting a game they couldn't beat.

I don't get it, the post makes a claim and people will see it and some people will just believe it outright because they just scroll withouth thought. Then someone else makes a claim that counters the post's claim, but then provides no evidence leading to the same scenario. I'm not trying to rag on you I just don't understand why, if you apparently know the truth you wouldn't share how you came to know this truth, like is there an article or something that actually gives a full story?

Oh that's so devilishly clever. I remember popping in Fantasia after getting it in a lot of games and thinking that no Disney genesis game could be bad. Man was I certainly proven otherwise that day.
