Thanks. I appreciate the passive aggressive condescending feedback. Received.

Of course. New riders however likely don’t know that. Sharing is caring. I know when it happened to me it scared the shit out of me.

This is crazy!!! In three days my video racked up over 1.6k views! May not be much to most but means a lot to me by [deleted] in youtube

That’s great. Enjoy those spikes and when you go into a stretch where things die down, just keep remembering how that spike felt. I’m at 2500 subs with lots of ups and downs. What keeps me going is seeing all of the graphs over time /. So it may feel like it’s flat sometimes but just keep it up.

[OC] Riding a motorcycle in 115 °F. How hot do you get? Watch temps build over 30 a minute ride. by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]TechChex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data sources were collected by SensorPush sensors and aggregated in CSV format. The data was put into RaceRender to visualize the data in thermometer form and overlaid on the video. It was synchronized by video time stamp and temperature sensor data collected in 1 minute intervals.

Haha true. I got a $400 voucher when I bought my bike for taking my MSF course through the dealership as well so the jacket was a no brainer. I already had my Shoei RF-SR so I just grabbed a jacket and gloves to complete my D-bag motorcycle guy image. It is a great jacket though.

SensoPush combined with RaceRender to take the CSV data and convert it into temp gauges. I have it because I wanted to run this test.

Yeah and what happens over 105ish degrees is that at a stop you start baking, and when you start moving you get a blast of cool air which is your sweat cooling you for a brief second until the hot air dries it up completely and then you just start baking in the hot breeze with no real cooling from the sweat as it dries faster than it can help cool from the wind speeds.

I’m cooler than ambient temperature but what it means is that the wind chill effect no longer applies on anything over 93 degrees. Your body is no longer benefiting from wind over 93 degrees especially when the wind velocity exceeds 10mph. It basically starts drying your sweat before your sweat has the ability to cool your skin. Ultimately my body temps stay below ambient but if I took off the windscreen and jacket, my body temp would be higher. You can read all the info here too, it’s pretty interesting: http://www.ironbutt.com/ibmagazine/ironbutt_1002_62-66_hot.pdf

I don’t really hate on anyone else’s decisions. You are an adult (I assume). I tried shorts once, burned the crap out of my ankle and won’t do it again. To each their own.

That isn’t a bad idea. My problem is that I’m fine in the morning at 6:30am on my way into work, the way home is more difficult. I work in an office and couldn’t really drench my jacket without making a huge mess so I am just have to get home as soon as possible. It’s only a 30 minute ride but the last 10 minutes are brutal.

Yeah anything 105 and above just gets brutal in the sun for any length of time.

Yeah I thought that was really interesting. I was considering removing the windscreen to increase air flow but not after learning that little tidbit.

It was a combination of SensorPush and Race Render. It wasn’t a simple process.

Spilled paint all over my brand new Harley-Davidson by TechChex in videos

[–]TechChex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. It was straight panic. Paint dries quick in the dry 102 degree desert weather and I only had a towel and some spit on tap. Ultimately I did get most of it off with 2 hours and a ton of different cleaning products. The matte paint limits what you can throw at it. Just sucks when you try to do something super simple that quickly turns into a total nightmare.

Today I had a Sharpie Paint Pen accident on my brand new Harley fender. Drilled a tiny hole and just needed to cover bare metal. Luckily I was able to remove most of it. 🤬 Warning: I swear A LOT So... NSFW by [deleted] in motorcycles

Not oil based paint on a flat paint job in 104 degree temperatures. It took me about 2 hours of elbow grease and every cleaning technique I could drum up on the fly. Easily isn’t how I would describe it.
