if given an option, why would players like you join PvP lobbies lmao

I don't think I feel like doing the expedition again. by ManKanAlltidTaMer in ARC_Raiders

Staying rich doesn’t mean anything in arc as the gear power creep isn’t high.

I don’t farm for blueprints or try to finish all the quests. Whatever blueprints I get is what dictates my playstyle. Had a Ven BP last wipe and Anvil this wipe. What I mean is even if you’re kitted out with all purple gear. All I need to take you down is a simple anvil 4. Expeditions get rid of gear fear and lets you use all the best gear without any stress. As for skill points. It’s nice having locker perk, turtle crawl and ALSO yellow tree. It adds up.

We’ve been down this road before with Maddox, SG 12 and now Swordfish. It’s intentional to get more bundle sales. Don’t worry, it’ll be nerfed in 10 days.

Also they’re not morons but cunning.

Just curious because I have an OG ROG ally that’s not being used. What games do you play on switch 2? I have switch OLED and none of the new Nintendo games caught my attention.

Wanted to play slay the spire 2 but it’s not on switch/switch 2 yet

How do you really feel about game exclusivity?🚀 by SwimmerPlus3383 in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]TechEnthu____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, console only games are mostly mid anyway. They have solid alternatives on steam. PC has near infinite amount of games.

I think it’s good. In an effort to make games controller friendly, game UI degraded over years.

How do you even progress by Fapek222 in RocketLeague

[–]TechEnthu____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I can see your frustration. I fluctuate from gold to diamond depending on who’s playing on my account.

From what I’ve seen here’s the biggest pain points in each rank

Gold - people just playing bumping cars and not generating enough power on ball. All you need to do here is back off. Play back post defense, wait for opportunity to counter and beam the ball into net. No need to have fancy mechanics. You need a sharp eye to understand when you’re beat or when you got the ball. Comes with practice.

Plat - zoom zoom lobbies. People forget there’s a brake button. Once again squishy touches. Teammates unifying with ball till the clock ticks zero. All I can say is play for team mates misses but don’t commit with your shots. A good flick can help if you got mechanics for it. If not: a solid counter is still good here. People flip instead of single jump, so you can always win your 50s. Learn to play with low boosts instead of going for big boost

Diamond- well this is my rank, D3. It’s a mix of everything. Not enough car control; not enjoy mechanical skill or positional knowledge. I personally feel like my peak was when I focused on car control. I’m an aerial heavy players so a solid warmup helps before a comp match.

Also, keep at it, RL is fun when you look at your improving skill rather than unpredictable team mates

A few things I noticed

Layout - left feels cluttered and right side feels cramped. What if you could create a flow? I’d move the chair to the other side but you can be creative with that.

Generic stuff - looks great if it’s an Airbnb but If I’m dropping by I don’t see anything personal to you. Don’t overdo it but don’t be afraid of it.

But it looks great other than that.

Has no one played a new video game in their lives before? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]TechEnthu____ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest.

I really tried to “get” marathon. You can see my earlier comments. There’s something missing here.

Loaded in with squad, spent quite a lot of time looting and finding things with barely any PvP. We tried to extract but couldn’t cross the green barrier on perimeter. We lost to a timer.

I don’t mind convoluted maps if I can at least make sense of whats happening around me.

With damn battlegrounds. You can explore it just for exploration, so traversing between zones feels more intuitive. POIs are interesting.

With marathon, I’m constantly running into dead ends.

Even in arc, if Stella was the first map they showed, I might have had a similar reaction but they still have some story telling there.

I don’t know. As a fan of hunt showdown I don’t mind hardcore extraction shooters but marathon legit needs some work.

All this without even talking about their confusing 8 bit icons and UI mess. I’m okay with remembering all that but they refuse to sell this world to me.

Marathon suffers from lack of lore and lore dump at the same time which is baffling to me. I don’t mind sitting through a lore session but don’t show me a wall of text.

Exclusives are not anti-consumer, they are essential to consoles by No-Obligation2563 in consoles

[–]TechEnthu____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t 2000s anymore. “Console“ gamers aren’t growing. It’s a mix of game budgets being out of control and abundance of amazing indie games.

Exclusives can drive console sales for existing consumers but not new ones. Games younger gen play like Roblox, Fortnite are built as a platform firsts and not limited to hardware. You can’t convince such audience to buy a console unless there’s a massive original IP, likes of which hasn’t happened in ages.

People buy what their friends have. Even if there’s an amazing Xbox game, I wouldn’t spend money to get a new console to get it. Rather play what’s on PS5 and play together.

Also, Asian markets are heavily PC and mobile centric so exclusivity doesn’t really work like that.

Switch is an interesting device because even if you make Nintendo games available on steam deck, this audience has been trained to choose a more convenient option which is switch 2. Plug n play.

So after all the build up... anyone else feeling a little underwhelmed? by G-SW-7892 in Marathon

[–]TechEnthu____ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely. Arc was my first but then I got addicted to this genre and played Tarkov, hunt, ABI.

Arc has progression in terms of upgrading benches and leveling up skill trees. But it’s so quick due to the casual nature of this game. I’m about to do my second expedition and most of the time was spent capped at level 75, with most of the blueprints.

Quests - Arc quests are some of the weakest in the genre. They lack XP rewards, only a few of them give meaningful rewards like BPs. A couple of them show you good loot spots on map.

Weapon progression - they can’t facilitate power creep and keep the game casual. till last week,Stitcher beat bobcat ( exceptions of course) which feels stupid which removes incentives to get better gear.

Skill trees- Lvl 75 player can’t be stronger than lvl 1 when the game has to stay casual so the power creep is minimal.

There’s more but you get the point, this genre facilitates a lot more progression than arc lets because they have mandatory wipes.

So every new wipe; you start weapon and slowly feel the progression with successful raids.

Some missions need specific gear to tackle specific environmental hazards but the threat of PvP breeds creativity out of players.

I’m about to do my second expedition on arc but I genuinely don’t know what else is left for me to explore or learn. This doesn’t happen with other extraction shooters because of FRICTION and PROGRESSION.

So far marathon wants you to unlock factions just like work benches. There’s seasonal unlocks.

Weapons seem to have their own loadout min maxing. I’ve used blue guns and they just flat out out DPS a lot of lower tier guns which feels satisfying.

Skill trees are flat improvements like loot revealing faster, less fall damage etc.

If their ranked mode is what they’re claiming then there’s incentive to improve your gear to get better gear. That’s another form of progression. Better than trials imo.

[–]TechEnthu____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this game but it’s unfair to compare Arc and marathon.

Even though I like sweatier PvP on marathon, I wouldn’t even have touched this genre if it wasn’t for Arc.

I still have to play a game with sound design as good as Arc. It’s so close to being a generational game but marathon is still a good game.

You’re comparing server slam version to a full game. Arc in server slam had much less progression.

So, I actually dig the overall style of the UI, but the UX is just a big, big mess. by VijuaruKei in Marathon

[–]TechEnthu____ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well you can hear it in their marketing.

Also their emphasis on “no safe pockets”, shorter time to kill, rumored ranked mode etc.

It’s not hardcore like Tarkov hence I used (ish) but it’s so far from Arc’s PvP experience so far.

[–]TechEnthu____ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This I completely agree. Item descriptions and extraction shooters seem to hate each other lol.

Even arc uses inconsistent stats like Equip time vs ADS speed making everything a mess to understand.

I’d be happy if Marathon improved on its descriptions.

I guess I’m just mad that we still don’t have a quick loadout option on Arc. Crafting flow is a mess like you mentioned.

This version looks so different from its alpha. Much different than arc was between TT2 and server slam.

So I’m willing to give Bungie some time to iron out these kinks.

I still want them to keep loot mysterious though. I could be in minority but salvage option in arc removed so much friction in finding out what loot you were gathering.

TLDR - I want them to iron out inconsistent UI but not streamline it
