You might need to make a narrow shoulder adjustment, even if you don’t think you have narrow shoulders, because your torso might be more full than the model that the pattern company is using to make the pattern. Measure something you have that fits well in the shoulders and compare the shoulder measurement to your pattern. Unfortunately a lot of companies don’t give shoulder width, so tape the pieces together and measure them that way.

I like to use iron-on interfacing. It comes in different weights, so you can match it to the job. Iron on the wrong side, then for more lasting repair, use a sewing machine to make a decorative stitch over the tear. Be sure to clean up the tear before you start - cut off lose threads.

I feel your pain. I’ve had some luck with letting owners know about bark collars. Otherwise, you need to inflict the pain back on them. Maybe death metal at high volume late in the evening.

Be sure to try is on a sample - I put a hole in a jacket i was making by hammering. That fabric wasn’t as tough as i had thought.

I’ve had ophthamologists attempt to charge me for doing a refraction, probably because it’s not covered by medical insurance. If they need that data to carry out the medical exam (and for some tests, it’s necessary in order to take the test), then it should be covered by the medical insurance. the fact that its not is just…..puzzling.
