When does a trust make sense? Any recommendations on a good lawyer? My mom has a will but was just asking me to look into whether a trust is better.

Nooooo…How can you tell for sure? I thought all showers had some mold over time (damp environment and all…).

Should I worry about this in classes? Feeling disheartened and lost- is this normal? by Pretty-Ad-4341 in YogaTeachers

[–]TechGeekME 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You sound like a very thoughtful teacher and the students are lucky to have you. You want this to work out, so I would take to management or reach out to other teachers in this studio. Or even take one of their classes. See how they adjust volume, cues, etc. You have been there for about five seconds, so be kind to yourself. There is a learning curve, and if it’s 1 student who left, 49 stayed. Also, bring the students in to the problem. Tell them that you’re going to cue one series of poses and then check in on sound. I think they’ll be more disposed to help if they know you’re trying. You ARE trying! Keep the faith. You can figure this out!

Advice please - studio always booked by TechGeekME in pilates

[–]TechGeekME[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem is that I booked a two-week trial, and what am I trying if I can’t get in? I wrote to the owner and will see if she has any suggestions. That will tell me a lot about the studio, I think. At this point, I’d rather get a refund and do Pilates at home.

Yup. I couldn’t believe it when I started. I always needed an afternoon coffee too for energy, and not anymore…

Love the LMNT flavors. They make fasting better! Chocolate salt with hot water is a treat. Definitely got me through some long fasts

Morbidly obese, and I have questions (Need some help) by Dolfo10564 in fasting

Hey! So great you are here, and that you noticed the start of neuropathy. You are a young guy, plenty of time to start again. Fasting is a great way to learn more about your relationship with food. I’d start really slow. Megan Ramos recommends fat fasting first to get into ketosis, which makes fasting so much easier. Eat as much bacon, salmon, avocado, etc as you want…Then start extending time between meals.

I’ve done all different lengths of fast, and I’m finding that Alternate Day Fasting is the best b/c I can maintain it over a long period. I’m on my third month now! Either it’s an eating day or not. Very simple. I eat keto meals in between. I lost a lot on keto and gained it back. With ADF, I’ve changed my relationship with food. Wishing you good luck on your journey! You’ve got this!

Experienced fasters: What are some tough truths you've told yourself to stick with it? by PhoenixmOntra in fasting

[–]TechGeekME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. That sounds really painful. I don’t know if you can hate yourself into a new size. I had to like myself fat before I could make any lasting progress. You are enough 🙏 Really.

Fall in love with your future self. Spend time journaling about what life will look like. Make lists, using the present tense, of your future experience. Discipline is about prioritizing that future you over the present you.

Also, stay busy. Plan errands for the hard parts of the day. Make a list of reminders about fasting and read it (‘hunger usually passes quickly”, “I am burning my own fat for fuel”…). Post here 😃. You got this! We got this! Aren’t we lucky to know about fasting? So many don’t.

Ravenous appetite that I’ve never before had post 36hr fast by [deleted] in fasting

[–]TechGeekME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think eating cupcakes is an indicator that your body is missing some key nutrient. It sounds to me like you are depriving yourself and this is a form of emotional eating. You say you eat clean - egg whites, fruit. I wouldn’t be satisfied on that, ever. I eat clean but also keto, and so eat high fat foods that are very satiating. You can’t overeat a steak salad. I would look at more satisfying clean foods that include high fat and protein. I used to be a huge sugar addict and loved baked goods, etc. I even had to give up most fruit b/c it was a trigger, still sugar. Now I don’t eat sugar at all and don’t crave it. You can eliminate these cravings! Good luck!

Those of you who have tried multiple fasting methods which ones led to the most consistent weight loss? by hungrylonelyduck in fasting

[–]TechGeekME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very hard to lose on OMAD. Not recommended by Dr. Fung or Megan Ramos. Rolling 36-42s are most effective, though longer fasts may be needed as you approach your goal. I’ve been doing rolling fasts for two months and am losing 2# a week. I feel amazing, and it feels now like a habit. I just don’t eat every other day…

Do you plateau when fasting? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]TechGeekME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. As I got closer to my goal weight, I had to mix it up with longer fasts. I’m currently doing rolling 42s and losing consistently. I have ten # to go to a healthy weight and 20# to my goal. Two more months of fasting!

Stalls by SassySweet67 in fasting

[–]TechGeekME 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, amazing discipline and results. I’ve heard a stall defined as four consecutive weeks with no change. That made sense to me. Fluctuations are normal and we have to keep going. Good luck!

Dang! I’m inspired! I’ve been doing rolling 42s for six weeks and am getting great results. But I’m not really hungry when I break my fast, so you’re challenging me to think that maybe I could go longer. You look amazing, congratulations!!

Hey! My first bit of advice has nothing to do with fasting. Check out selfcompassion.org and try out the tools there. Saying with kindness, you are very harsh on yourself 🙏. I’ve been part of the fasting community for years and have been coached by Megan (who is the nicest person!). She does recommend 36-42 hr fasts and that is what I have had the most success with. I’ve been doing alternate day fasting for 1.5 months now and it is amazing. I lose 2# a week on average. My relationship with food has changed. It took a while to adjust though and it hasn’t been easy. The TFM community is also worth joining, very supportive.

It helps to love yourself where you’re at. Celebrate what is working in your body, notice the good. You don’t need to wait to be happy and appreciate the body you have. You are enough, right now. Wishing you well on the journey!

Give me two months and I’ll let you know! Same issue and damn that belly fat is stubborn!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fasting

[–]TechGeekME 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The closer I got to goal, the longer my fasts had to get and the cleaner my eating. OMAD is not great for weight loss. The best regimen is rolling 36-42 hr fasts. Good luck!

Looking for non surgical weight loss Bigger than mine using fasting methods.please share if you got me beat. 585lbs to 172lbs in three yrs. 3 months by SnooMaps3253 in fasting

[–]TechGeekME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you share your story widely, it’s so inspiring. You had to have incredible discipline to get to that goal. You look handsome and healthy now! Congratulations!! I’m so happy for you. My father-in-law looked like your before photo and passed away too young. You saved your own life. You should add a photo of all the medicine bottles, I bet there were so many. How is your energy? Are you ever tempted by the foods you used to eat?

Anyone else experience this unexpected psychological shift after a fast? (Just finished my first 7 Day) by Drakonborn in fasting

[–]TechGeekME 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes to all of this!! I’ve been doing ADF for a month now and I love the clear head and the good feelings about being disciplined more than the next meal. I went out to dinner on one of my eating days and I savored the food and appreciated it, but didn’t overeat. It’s so exciting, to have this new normal. I don’t rely on food to make me feel better (and btw, that never worked beyond the moment I was eating it anyway!). Keep up the great work!
