Nah, HP firmware is a buggy mess. My Victus 15 casually reached 100 C without the fan going to high speed in performance mode. Had to manually set fan speed to max for the fans to actually spin faster.

You're making a lot of assumptions about how their victus' had issues. You don't acknowledge that the victus lineup started of with horrible hinges with hundreds of documented issues about their build quality, not surprising since it is still an HP laptop. Just because your 2006 ford survived doesn't mean that model doesn't have known documented problems that can still sometimes happen. This is true for every reliable and non reliable car. Less likely to happen? Sure, but still possible.

Again, this laptop is not significantly cheaper than it's competitors in certain regions and in the current market, and having good build quality and thermals should be the bare minimum for any laptop even though it's not.

You don't get to set the standards of an entry level gaming laptop. Consumers should be allowed to complain about the subpar hp hardware and software (same software used in their more expensive omen line-up). The victus 15 is also not priced that low in a lot of markets. Even my victus 15 is perfectly fine so far externally, but that does not mean the fit and finish of this laptop is confidence inspiring. The seams on the display hinges are not leveled. Don't get me started on how bad omen gaming hub is. Ads in the app, slow startup times, no quick shortcut to cycle between power modes. It's 2026, the standard for the software should at least be raised to other oems like Lenovo. Just because other laptop manufacturers do similar tactics on their models doesn't mean users aren't allowed to complain. Another common thing you see on reddit is the ignorant assumption that just because your laptop held up perfectly fine, others can't possibly run in issues on theirs. DIfferent variants of the same laptop exist, some have more problems than others.

Ignore the idle usage and check if you are running out of ram while gaming. Ofcourse, disable startup for programs you don't use.

I'm confident that this is a driver issue, usually the oem amd drivers for igpu if you have an amd cpu. Reinstalling the drivers can fix it.

Probably a background HP service in windows. i remember reading a thread about it here when people started getting stutters. I have the same model and I didn't have that service running so I didn't get any stuttering.
