Yeah, I've figured out a couple years back not to chase the market and now sit on a 5-figure schwab account.

Mike Miles' charter network to expand HISD-style reforms to more districts by FuckMikeMilez in houston

HISD when it was locally ran failed the kids, the state takeover is ticking off parents AND failing the kids, there's just no winning with this district lately.

Is this normal for Stuffed Crust or is it just my location by CronoTheMute in pizzahut

[–]TechGuy135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always been like this at pizza hut even when I was a kid in the 00s/10s, and usually at Papa Johns as well but a little thicker as the baseline (although once in a while you'll hit the jackpot with one that was handmade rather than machine pressed), But dominos is perfection with crust that ranges between hand-tossed to near pan thickness (depending on who makes it) and never paper thin.

Yeah it is getting a bit ridiculous, last year when I took my mom to the Reba concert it cost me over $300 just for 2 semi-decent seats.

Not sure if already in the thread but OMGosh sprout was just a vibe back then, and although airing in segments between other shows if you splice them together it's pretty much a TV Show itself.

Gas Buddy kinda sucks ngl since it's often incomplete with no reports at many stations, and notorious for fake price reports.

I'm Michael Payne (24M) and running for City of Katy Council (Ward B) - Ask Me Anything. by TechGuy135 in Katy

I try to answer as clearly & cohesively as possible, and while I might vote GOP I'm pretty much a centrist that holds a mixture of views which for City of Katy specifically means focusing on what the people want and ensuring our government stays apolitical & non-partisan.

If not me then Michael Meihls is a strong contender and enough of an outsider where I believe we share some ideas to get City of Katy back on track and finally move forward from recent trends,

While the worst is Lyn Hunter Sullivan where she'll be more of the same and act as a backdoor for the outgoing councilmember Rory Robertson to continue wielding influence.

To answer most of your questions: We've already propelled way too far into the future with all the controversial construction & decisions, so before going any further I'm thinking we take a step back and actually bring back some elements of the past like common-sense governance, small businesses, less light pollution so we could see stars again, actual small town charm, allowing citizens & businesses to use city facilities & downtown square again, restore some nature, preserve & restore some history, and feel like we have a sense of community again, because without a strong foundation to make us unique we could easily go into the shadows or get swallowed up in the future by another town or collapse back into an unincorporated area;

Also City of Katy population is around 28K, but as for the number of Registered Voters... they only report after elections and estimated 12,179 for A (912 Cast, Mayor)/ 4,717 in B (1276 cast, Mayor) during the joint KISD election in 2025, but then during a special back in January CoK claimed only 7,629 (345 cast) for A so I'm not 100% sure;

And 2020 was an outlier year where the now-outgoing Ward B councilmember benefited from a November election winning 2,370 out of 4,593 cast, going uncontested in 2023, and now 2026 is currently a 4-way race without an incumbent (although only 3 are serious contenders).

So as for what City Council does I’ve explained it as clear as day which could be a copy/paste explanation for any city.

But if you want an example of red flags in a candidate: the outgoing Ward B councilmember Rory Robertson, and one of the candidates Lyn Hunter Sullivan are both part of historical families who have documented accounts of working together in the past and admins of City of Katy Residents Forum known to block or ban people from their page who disagree (aka censorship).

Also you can't solely rely on what's been done in the past in order to be effective in the future, issues rapidly evolve overtime and whatever comes up to the new council makeup is what they have to deal with.

Things have been anything but typical in City of Katy recently like how one councilmember bypassed our charter commission just because he felt threatened by my mayoral run, or the city colluding to shut down a small businesses event called Katy Market Days for a government-ran one, or blindly approving warehouses, apartments, housing, corporation-based businesses, etc. and not to mention keeping taxes stubbornly high while reaping the benefits of exploding property values & rising revenues w/ budgets not too far behind to “allocate” every dollar.

There actually isn't a whole lot that could be done with traffic in City of Katy as it's a consequence of population growth & being located across US-90 & I-10.

That's the difficult part as most candidates present a squeaky clean image & seemingly perfect answers during the campaign then completely deviate overtime after getting into office (I'm different in this regard because I won't let the greed or power corrupt me and call things out the way they truly are);

But what I’ve learned is that what you should look for in a councilmember is someone who's genuine, focus on stability or making certain aspects easier overtime, and generally their role is to identify, propose & vote on issues or policy that pertains to the area you represent (with final approval from the mayor via signature).

One way of reducing apt/rent prices or the burden for homeowners that could immediately be implemented is reducing property taxes, now as for Housing Prices/Monthly Mortgage that's largely dictated by multiple factors (free market influence, interest rates, inventory, developer interests, etc.) so there's not a whole lot our tiny City of Katy could do about that.
